[The Gaia Branch in America]
Within a large meeting room in the Gaia headquarters, Cersai waited patiently for the delegates from Radagan to arrive. Cersai had received a letter from Riyala a few hours ago asking for a meeting to discuss the recent happenings concerning Jason and the Overlord, and Cersai had accepted the offer for a meeting since there were a lot of things he also wanted to ask the Radagans. The door to the meeting room opened, and Cersai watched as Riyala entered with two guards flanking her on either side. Riyala had a stoic look on her face, and there was confidence surrounding her that showed Cersai that she was a woman who wielded power. Anyone who saw her would think she was completely unfazed by everything that had been happening, but Cersai knew that all this was just a front. Every leader could recognize the techniques that they used to reassure the people that they were leading that everything was okay, and Cersai could tell that this was exactly what Riyala was doing because he was also doing the exact same thing.
Riyala was dressed in the usual long robe worn by the Priestess of Fire, and once she was close enough to Cersai, she inclined her head slightly in greeting before she spoke.
"Thank you for accepting this meeting on such short notice, Mr. Cersai. I know our two worlds have not had the best history, but I believe this conversation is necessary to facilitate our plans for the future."
Cersai stood as he spoke.
"I should be the one thanking you for reaching out to me, Priestess. I haven't fully understood everything that happened over the past month, and I think we need to talk about what we'll do concerning the payment to the Overlord. From what I heard, things went quite badly during the trial, didn't they?"
Riyala's brow furrowed in slight anger as she remembered the trial, but she managed to calm herself, and she shook her head before speaking.
"No, the trial did not go in our favour. And things have only gotten worse after Jason was branded as an Enigma and forced to go into hiding. Tell me, is this room secure from any outside listeners?"
Cersai frowned in confusion for a moment as he wondered what Riyala could be trying to talk about that she needed such secrecy, but he eventually decided that it would be best to just follow her instructions, and he put his hand to his ear and spoke to someone on the other side of his comm.
"Secure the room."
[Yes, sir.]
Doon!
A sudden pulse of mana surged through the room, and Riyala could feel a dome of magic settle over them! The magic was a sensory disruptor that would prevent anyone from listening in on their conversation while also erasing any other magical or electronic signal that tried to act as a listening device. Riyala nodded once Cersai explained all this to her, and she then spoke.
"The real reason I came here was to tell you the plan that Jason created before he left on his journey across the Primordial Expanse to try and figure out the truth behind the Overlord's actions. For the past month, I have made sure to stall the Overlord by pretending to consider his offer for a trade deal. The Overlord intended to take the Yellow Ashen Mountain away from the dragonborn in exchange for clearing the debt owed to him, and I recently denied the request."
"What? You denied it? But why? It was a good deal, wasn't it? From my information, those mountains are just filled with dragonstone mines, and you have many other mines that you can use to sustain your world until the timeline is completed."
"No, those mountains are of great importance to my people both religiously and financially. Giving them up will have far greater consequences than simply the loss of a few dragonstones. We cannot hand them over. Instead, we have promised the Overlord that he will be paid his ten billion gold coins."
Cersai ran a hand through his hair and let out a huff.
"This isn't ideal. I understand that Radagan can acquire that much gold in such a short time, but Earth doesn't have such a large amount of gold. It'll be difficult to acquire all of it, and even then, it will still take a while to gather everything."
"Yes, I am aware of Earth's lack of gold as a natural resource. That is why Radagan is willing to take on your debt and pay the full ten billion gold coins as one lump sum. Yes, I know that this is surprising. But we are aware that we owe a great deal to Earth and its fighters for the safety of our people, so we do not shy away from repaying that debt. We can arrange a contract for Earth to pay back the amount owed with no interest over a longer period, but before that, we need to delay this deal even longer. Jason and Gina are currently on a journey to a distant world to acquire new evidence against the Overlord, so until they return, it falls on us to ensure the Overlord does not receive even a penny from either of our worlds."
Cersai was still slightly confused about all of this. Cersai had also been told some of these things by Agiel during her report earlier, but Cersai also knew that neither Agiel nor Riyala was telling him the full truth because neither of them trusted him as much as they trusted Jason. But as of this moment, Cersai couldn't see any reason why he shouldn't go along with Riyala's idea. It was true that Earth couldn't just put out all that gold at once, and Radagan taking on their debt would help them greatly, but it was also true that pushing the collection date as far back as possible would give Jason enough time to finish whatever he was planning, and it might end up with them not even having to pay anything at all! Cersai took in a calming breath, and he gave Riyala a nod to tell her that he was in, and Riyala nodded back to him thankfully before she began to lay out the plan.
"First, we will have to invoke a section of the Primordial Treaty that allows a world to delegate for an extended period of time before presenting a payment plan to the Overlord for approval…"
The meeting between Riyala and Cersai continued for the next few hours, and Riyala laid out her plans and intentions to make sure both Radagan and Earth were on the same page about how they would handle the situation. Cersai was able to understand everything that Riyala was telling him, and his extensive knowledge of the Primordial Expanse and the Treaty allowed him to add his own input at random intervals about how they could extend the payment even further. By the time they were done, they had laid out a three-month plan on how they would make sure the Machina couldn't get their hands on any gold coins from either world, and they could only hope Jason would have something ready by the time the three months were over.
