No matter how far Jason listened or travelled, the only thing that greeted him was silence and cold. Jason couldn't help but wonder why the Overlord hadn't done anything about this for so long. If the Overlord knew that a monster like this was out there and had been tormenting the world for so long, then why hadn't he sent his army out to kill it?
'Is this beast so strong that even Rubik would be scared of it?'
Even though Jason didn't like Rubik, he still knew that Rubik's power was not something you could overlook. Rubik was the real deal as far as power was concerned, and Jason could only imagine what sort of beast would make a man like Rubik move with caution. Jason slowed down as he reached the edge of a large cliff that looked out over a vast horizon that was covered in a blanket of cold fog. Jason looked from left to right, and he saw that the cliff didn't have any region that wasn't a steep drop, and he looked down again and felt his heart almost skip a beat as he wondered what he would find beneath all that fog. Jason let out a sigh in irritation. What was he hesitating for?
'Are you scared? Heheheh. It's fine to admit to being scared, but no student of mine is going to be stopped by some mere fog, you understand!? Use your Qi and – OW! What the fuck is wrong with you!?'
Jason raised a brow when he heard Esdeath cry out, and he heard Gina commanding Esdeath to shut up before she finally spoke to Jason.
'Ignore that idiot, babe. We don't know what's down there, so maybe I can come help out? I can fly you down so we'll see what's there before dropping.'
Jason chuckled slightly when he heard Esdeath grumbling about irritating women in the background, and Jason told Gina that it was fine. Esdeath had actually been giving Jason some good advice before Gina interrupted, and Jason knew that he could go down there using his Qi. Jason had been training in how to amplify his Qi for a long time now, and apparently, one of the most common ways for young cultivators to learn how to control their Qi was by learning the art of [Qi Levitation]. It was an art form that allowed you to surround your body in an aura of pure Qi, and you would then be able to move around by controlling the Qi surrounding your body. It was a very advanced technique that even some of the high-level disciples wouldn't learn until years into their training! But since Jason's potential in cultivation was so unbelievably high, Esdeath was able to bring the topic forward, and Jason learned it as if it were just any other technique.
Jason reached for the Qi inside him, and he felt a calming sensation settle over him as a blue aura surrounded his body. Jason looked down at his hand, and he clenched it to feel the power inside of it before he finally took a step over the edge of the cliff and floated in the sky. Not bad.
'I'd better get down there before I run out of Qi.'
This was the only downside of this technique as far as Jason was concerned. It consumed so much Qi and stamina to keep it active that Jason couldn't use it for more than thirty minutes at a time before he would have to deactivate it. But even that was already extremely impressive because from what Esdeath had told Jason, the advanced disciples in the Eastern Mountain Sect could only use this skill for five to ten minutes at a time before they would collapse from Qi Exhaustion, so Jason was not lacking behind in his training at all! Jason slowly began to descend into the thick, cold fog below the cliffside, and he kept his guard up as he prepared himself for whatever he was going to find down there. Jason still hadn't felt any specific mana signatures since he arrived in this world, but Jason could tell that there were many ways for a beast to hide their mana signatures and prevent detection, so he couldn't let his guard down.
'Besides, everything around me is saturated in mana, so it's possible that my senses are being tricked.'
Jason narrowed his eyes as this thought crossed his mind. The fog all around Jason was saturated with mana since they had been created using magic, so it was almost like this entire world was drowning in mana. In this sort of condition, it was very possible for Jason to miss out on any weak mana signal around him since it would be drowned by the much stronger mana in the air. Jason allowed that thought to go to the back of his mind as he finally began to break through the fog and arrive at another part of the world. This time, Jason found himself in what looked like a large town. There were various large and small buildings scattered across the area, and there were even roads and carriages that were being pulled by Centaurs, but just like every other part of this world, this town was also completely covered in ice! And the centaurs and carriages were all gleaming with the dull silver sheen of frozen statues.
Jason calmly landed in the middle of the town, and he made his way forward without bothering to pay much attention to the frozen creatures around him. But as Jason walked, he couldn't help but notice the small area at the side that had various young centaurs that had been frozen. The centaurs over there were gathered around an older-looking female centaur, and they were smiling up at her as she handed out treats to them. They had all been frozen eternally in that state, and Jason was certain that they never even knew they were under attack before they died. Jason let out another breath of cold air, and he sped up slightly to get out of the town. But as Jason walked, he was surprised when he saw something strange a little further down the road. There was a weird portion of the town that had been crushed by a massive force to form a deep depression in the ground. From a distance, it didn't look that large, but as Jason got closer, he noticed that it was nearly as large as an entire pond! The area looked like a massive creature had just stepped in it and left behind a massive… footprint.
'Oh for fuck's sake.'
Jason felt his eyes widen in shock as he took a step back to really take a look at the large depression, and it was only after taking a proper look that Jason realised that this wasn't just some depression! It was a footprint! A footprint of something enormous! The entire footprint measured about a hundred meters in length and breadth, and from how fucking deep it was, Jason knew that the creature that made it had to have been extremely heavy! The chances that this footprint belonged to the Beast of the Apocalypse were very high, and if that was the case, Jason's desire to never run into that thing just rose slightly.
'Holy shit, that thing is huge. I think I finally understand why you were so worried about it. The last time I saw a monster this large was when we found the underground lab of those demon sect bastards and had to fight their artificial god. The monster down there almost destroyed our entire sect in one night.'
Esdeath's voice came through Jason's mental link, and Jason hummed as he surrounded himself with Qi and floated off the ground to take a look at the horizon. Jason could see that the footprints led towards the eastern part of the world, and Jason was sure that –
SCREEEEECCCHHHH!
'What the fuck!?'
