The hour that followed Jason's realisation was filled with questions and inquiries from Jason to both the little boy, Prince Kai, as well as the woman who was there with him. It turned out that the woman's name was Fritz and she was the personal guard of Prince Kai as well as his caretaker. Kai had run away from home a few days ago, and Fritz had gone to look for him with a few other guards from the royal palace, but she somehow ended up being kidnapped along with the Prince, and since Fritz was only an S-Rank, she wasn't able to break out of the cage that they were put in. But Fritz had already sent out a signal to the royal army, and she knew that even if Jason hadn't come, they would have been rescued very soon. Jason was able to erase all the doubt about whether or not this boy was related to him after he got answers to most of his questions, and now Jason was just trying to come to terms with it.
Jason already dealt with the rest of the bandits, and he resurrected all of them before he commanded his subordinates to help the various victims who had been kidnapped return to their own worlds. The victims were taken through the shadows, and once they were gone, Jason could finally focus fully on his half-brother.
'It's still so weird to think that I have a half-brother. This is the last thing I expected to find on this journey.'
Jason released a calm breath as this thought crossed his mind. Right now, Jason was standing together with Gina at the side with a small frown on his face as he tried to organise his thoughts. Jason didn't know what he was going to find in this forest when he first came to this world, but the last thing he expected to discover was that he had a half-brother. Jason couldn't believe this. But what was even more unbelievable was when Gina told him that she already knew about this. Apparently, his mother told Gina that his father had multiple other wives all across the Primordial Expanse, so that meant that Jason had a much larger family than he once thought.
"I'm sorry I didn't say anything, babe. Mira just told me about it a few weeks ago, and she made me promise not to say anything since she wanted to be the one to tell you herself."
Gina had her head bowed as she apologised for keeping this a secret from Jason. In truth, Gina had known that Jason had other half-siblings and step-mothers out there for about three weeks now, since Mira told her, but Mira also told Gina not to say anything to Jason since Mira wanted to be the one to tell him. Gina had completely forgotten about this since she was so focused on their journey, but if Gina knew that things would get this complicated, then she would have just told Jason about this once she found out! Jason ran a hand through his hair and released a calm sigh before he just shook his head and told Gina that it was alright. Jason could understand why Gina didn't say anything since it wasn't her secret to reveal.
Jason glanced to the side to watch his half-brother talking excitedly to the dark-skinned woman, Fritz. Even though Kai had only just escaped from an attempted kidnapping, he didn't even look like he was bothered at all by what happened! Kai had an extraordinary amount of energy inside him as he spoke animatedly with a smile while hopping in place and waiting for Fritz to finish putting a cape around his shoulders. Jason couldn't help but grin slightly when he saw the boy. Kai's personality reminded Jason a lot of his little sister Maya, and Jason wondered if the two of them would get along.
'Well, I guess I should be thankful that Mom already knows about this. I really can't imagine how that conversation would have gone if she didn't know.'
This thought crossed Jason's mind, and Jason released a calm huff and smiled as he thought about the look of shock that would have crossed his mother's face if Jason suddenly brought Kai to see her. Even from this distance, Jason could see the obvious similarities between him and Kai! They had the same facial structures as their father, and their hair was the same shade. Jason was sure that his mother would have immediately found out that Kai was somehow related to Richard with just a glance! Jason raised a brow when Fritz finally finished putting on the cape, and Kai suddenly started running towards him again! Kai ran up to hug his leg and spoke with a smile on his face.
"Fritz says we'll be going home soon! The army is coming to get us!"
Jason hummed as he looked up at Fritz, and he watched as she walked up to them before she gave Jason a small nod. Fritz was still a little skeptical about Jason. Even though Fritz knew without a doubt that Jason was an Avaran because of the Magic Essence she could feel flowing off him, she wondered what sort of relationship there was between Jason and Kai. Fritz knew that there was every possibility that these two were brothers, but she didn't want to say anything since she didn't want to get Kai's hopes up unnecessarily. Fritz spoke to Jason once she was close enough.
"The army was already on its way to intercept the bandits, but now that you've taken care of it, they'll just escort us home. I was wondering if you'd like to come back with us. The Queen would be happy to greet the warriors who saved her child."
Jason released a calm sigh when he heard this, and he thought about it for a few seconds. In truth, Jason was still in the middle of his journey, so he really didn't have the time to make detours to other worlds. But at the same time, Jason knew that this would be an amazing opportunity to learn more about his father and his extended family. From what Jason could see, Fritz had likely been born sometime within the past ten years, so there was a chance that Fritz's mother would know what direction his father had gone in after he left here. But could Jason really make this detour?
'You should do it, babe. If you can find out more about your father, then you should take the chance.'
Gina's voice floated over to Jason through their link, and Jason gained a small smile as he realised that Gina had gotten a lot better at reading him! Jason didn't even mention what he was worried about, and Gina was still able to figure it out easily! A hand tugged at Jason's trousers, and Jason looked down to see Kai staring up at him with wide, yellow eyes. Kai was pouting desperately to try and make sure Jason agreed to come with him, and Jason felt his heart melting at the sight of it! Jason reached down with a grin and ruffled Kai's hair playfully before he spoke.
"Sure, I'll come back with you."
"You will!? Yeah!"
Kai exclaimed happily when he heard this, and Fritz smiled when Kai suddenly turned to her and began pestering her for the army to get here as quickly as possible! Jason could only smile at the enthusiasm of the child. Jason had still not told Kai that he was his half-brother, and Kai was already this excited, so Jason could only wonder how crazy Kai would go if he learned that they were actually related. Jason's expression suddenly turned serious, and he glanced towards the east as he got a message from some of his subordinates travelling across dimensions.
