Bastard Homunculus: Reborn in the Corpse Pit

Chapter 257: The Multiverse Tournament (Part 27)

"Your ability looks pretty interesting, I wonder how much force it'll take to break through?" Mused Aurora, as she and Aster took their places in the arena, the countdown starting as the barrier formed.

"Guess we'll find out soon enough," Responded Aster, letting out a slow exhale as he thought to himself, "I need to try and incapacitate her as quickly as possible, I can't afford to let this drag on. Trying to kill her is probably a bad idea...if I fail, she's bound to kill me instead."

The instant the countdown ended, Aster drew out his blades and whipped them across, unleashing slashing waves of telekinesis towards Aurora.

He activated Telekinetic Zone as she leapt over the slashes and shot towards him with immense speed, lunging forward as she closed in and driving her right fist forward.

Her fist collided against his Telekinetic Zone with immense force, pushing him back about a meter along the arena, before she pulled back as Aster began to try and drag her in, straining slightly to resist the telekinetic force drawing her in.

She swung her right arm across as she backed away, firing out a rapid dark slash, which collided against Aster's Telekinetic Zone, cutting in a few centimeters before petering out.

"She's just testing the waters, she isn't putting any genuine effort into her attacks...despite that, her attacks are clearly effective. I doubt my defense will hold up once she goes all out," Aster thought to himself with a grimace, before firing out a barrage of piercing telekinetic beams towards Aurora.

She zipped away to evade them, racing across the arena on all fours with immense speed, before she rushed in towards Aster from the left, weaving across the space to evade an incoming volley of telekinetic blasts.

Dark energy swirled around her claws as she closed in and leapt forward, slicing through the force field, before her claws steadily came to a halt by Aster's left bicep, nicking his skin and drawing out a trickle of blood.

She grimaced slightly as Aster compressed the space around her arm, starting to pull her in before she wrenched free as she jerked her arm back with a sharp twist, wincing as she felt a twinge of pain across the middle of her forearm, before backing away and getting some distance.

"Okay, that's more dangerous that I thought. If he managed to get my entire body trapped in that force field, I probably won't be able to escape, I was only able to get my arm free by leveraging the rest of my body. But if that powerful grip was applied to my entire body, I wouldn't be able to muster enough strength to break free...well, at least not before he manages to choke me out," She thought to herself, narrowing her eyes at him slightly.

"Huh, she's keeping her distance. Does she actually regard my Telekinetic Zone as a threat? But she's way too strong, she'll break free before I can fully drag her in, like she just did. What do I-...?" Frowned Aster, before tensing and taking an instinctive step back as a burst of dark energy erupted around Aurora, forming her cat-shaped dark cloak around her body.

She crouched low before springing forward with a powerful leap, cracks spreading out across the arena as she zipped through the air with immense speed, whipping her right arm across as she closed in.

The Telekinetic Zone slightly slowed her down, giving Aster just enough time to react and shuffle across to the right, before he gasped in pain as she inflicted deep gashes across his left arm, blood streaming down before he spun around as she slipped behind him, opening her mouth and firing out a devastating blast of dark energy.

Aster's Telekinetic Zone skidded back several meters across the arena as the blast collided against it, before Aurora leapt forward again with immense speed.

A choked gasp rang out as she grabbed Aster's throat before he could react, driving him down and slamming him onto the arena, the back of his head thudding against the floor and dazing him, his Telekinetic Zone fading as his concentration got disrupted.

"Best give up. If I feel that force field appearing again, I'll extend my claws right into your throat," She warned him, tightening her grip slightly, nicking the sides of his neck with her claws and drawing out trickles of blood.

"Yeah, don't have to tell me twice. I surrender," He sighed with a wry smile, holding up his arms.

Aurora let go of him and stepped back, before he sat up wearily and got back onto his feet, grimacing as he glanced at the shredded skin across the side of his left arm, blood dripping off his fingers onto the arena.

"That's the first semi-final done, and we have our first finalist, Aurora Pretorius!"

"Hm...I'm supposed to stop those assholes from getting the time travel device, but at this rate, I'm going to end up winning it for them. Well, it's fine, I can just kill them once we're back in our world, before they can use it," Aurora thought to herself with a shrug.

As she and Aster got teleported back up to their teams, Raven began healing Aster, who let out a quiet sigh of relief as the pain faded.

"Don't think I've ever seen you lose so one-sidedly, even the Undead King and Leptar didn't overwhelm you to that extent, not to mention that you're stronger now than you were when you fought them," Remarked Raven warily.

"I mean, it'd probably go the same if I sparred against you in your Dark form," He pointed out with a sigh.

"Well, what's important is that you're alive. Now, we just need you to survive the remainder of the tournament, Raven, and then we can return to our world unscathed," Chimed in Jules.

"Yeah, I suppose so. I've got my work cut out for me, though...I'm about to face an impossibly powerful opponent, and if I win, I'm up against another impossibly powerful opponent," Responded Raven, standing up as he finished healing Aster, letting out a slow exhale to compose himself...
