Wait a second…

Wang Yao’s eyes brightened, he had guessed something.

“Is it because the spirit gathering array is completed and so the nimbus has gathered here? Therefore, these sensitive animals have come here due to the temptation despite the risk of getting killed?”

In reality, the situation was close to what he had guessed.

The array was completed, and the nimbus had gathered from all directions.

An ordinary person might not perceive anything, except that it was more comfortable and the mood more relaxed up on the hill. The animals were different; their senses were far more acute. They could clearly detect the changes on the hill. Hence their basic instinct to chase for gain and avoid harm was triggered; they knew that if they came close to the hill, they could reap great benefits. Even if there were two big predators, these animals still came, hoping to obtain a slice of the pie.

“It looks like San Xian and Da Xia are going to be very busy.”

In Lianshan County, in a particular shop.

Cough, cough!

A man was vomiting in a toilet bowl. There was fresh blood, and there seemed to be something moving in that blood.

After he finished coughing, he took a bottle of the decoction and drank it all up in one gulp.

Yes!

Clutching his stomach, he walked into his house and fell onto the bed, staring at the ceiling.

He was Wei Hai, and he would be going to Jing City the next day. His wife had made an appointment for him with a medical specialist.

After he was stricken with this strange illness and endured a lot of suffering, his mentality underwent a change. At first, he was optimistic and hoped that his illness would be treated. The doctor’s response was positive as well.

“This illness can be treated. You can recover and won’t relapse.”

After the surgery, the illness exacerbated, and he did not feel well. The doctor had changed tune too.

“The illness’ focal point has shifted and has started to expand. It needs medicine to control.” There was no absolute confidence this time.

Sometime later, the doctor suggested, “This isn’t working; can you try and see an overseas doctor?” There was no confidence to speak of.

“Relax yourself, and don’t think too much. It will come out alright in the end.” This implied that there was no way to treat him at all.

“Spend more time with your family.” This was a euphemistic way of giving an ultimatum.

“You don’t have much time. Eat what you like, and if you have unfulfilled wishes, get them done as soon as you can.”

The process had caused him to fear hospitals and doctors as the result of the diagnosis and check-ups felt like a death notification to him.

“You still have a year’s time.”

“You still have three months.”

“One week…”

At that thought, he shivered and tried hard to suppress those thoughts. The more he thought about it, the more fearful he got.

He had actually already written his will.

His flight was in the afternoon. He would reach Jing City at night; the intention was to stay there for a night and go to the specialist the next day.

Might be for nothing…but there might be a turning point?

He had two thoughts, and the former thought was more dominant. Nevertheless, he also had the mentality of leaving it to chance.

What if there is a way? What if there is a miracle?

In this world, there can only be so many what-ifs, and there can only be so many miracles!

The next day, the sky was an azure blue, and there were numerous clouds.

Guo Sirou personally went up to Nanshan hill. She intended to try one last time, hoping that she could persuade Wang Yao. However, the result was the same.

“I won’t be going for the moment.”

“When you do change your mind, please notify me immediately,” Guo Sirou smiled and said. She did not force him.

“No problem,” Wang Yao smiled and said.

She took the decoction that Wang Yao prepared and left. The fee for the medicine was transferred to Wang Yao’s bank card.

After returning to Haiqu City, they did not spend any more time there and immediately took the plane back to Jing City.

“I hope this medicine is effective,” said the middle-aged man named Gu.

They had come in hope but left in disappointment.

“What is that young man thinking? Did he treat old man Guo by fluke, but in reality, did not have good medical skills. Therefore he did not dare to go to Jing City, fearful of being exposed?” This thought had surfaced more than once.

Meanwhile…

“Uncle Gu had gone back to Grandpa Shu to tell him everything,” said Guo Sirou to her grandfather.

“Okay.”

In Jing City, great prosperity was displayed, and there was an incessant stream of traffic.

At the hospital entrance, an emaciated middle-aged man stood outside, hesitant to enter.

This was one of Jing City’s renowned hospitals. The hospital facilities were advanced, the medical skills were abundant, and it housed a multitude of specialists in various fields. This hospital was well known in the country, and therefore, numerous patients from all over the country had come to this hospital seeking medical attention.

An appointment with a medical specialist could fetch a very high price.

The middle-aged man stumbled; it was as though his legs were filled with lead. A mere distance took ten minutes to cover like he was carrying a mountain.

“Professor Shu.” Upon seeing the specialist, he tried to squeeze out a smile, but he looked more awful than when he was crying.

“How are you feeling recently?”

“I feel the same.”

“How about this, let’s do a system check-up and find out how your condition is?” the doctor who looked to be in his 40’s asked.

“Okay.”

After conducting a series of pertinent checks, it was already in the afternoon.

“Huh? Have you been doing any treatment lately?” Professor Shu asked in astonishment after looking at the results carefully.

“Why?!” Wei Hai heard him and stood up from his chair immediately.

“Sit down, don’t be anxious. The check-up results showed that your condition is improving,” Professor Shu remarked. “This is good news; why are you so worked up?”

“It’s improved?!” Wei Hai was stunned. “Professor Shu, are you lying to me?!”

“You came all the way here to see me; why would I lie to you?” Professor Shu smiled and said.

“It’s improving; it’s improving, that’s great!” This was the best news Wei Hai had heard in many months.

“Did you go overseas for treatment?”

“No,” Wei Hai replied. He had thought about going. However, he was afraid he might not make it and die overseas. He was plagued by multiple fears, and so, the plan was delayed. In retrospect, it was fortunate that he did not go.

“You received treatment within the country?”

“Yes.”

“Where is this place? What hospital and which specialist?!” It was Professor Shu’s turn to be astonished. He was well aware of the condition of the patient before him. The rare parasites were incredibly potent and difficult to remove. He was a specialist in this field, and this hospital was one of the top ones in the country. If there was indeed a place that had better health care than this hospital and could effectively treat the patient, he really wanted to know about it and even visit the place.

“Sorry.” Wei Hai shook his head. He remembered Wang Yao’s special reminder.

“Folk prescription?” Seeing Wei Hai’s reaction, Professor Shu made a guess.

“Traditional Chinese medicine,” Wei Hai pondered a while before answering. He had considered that Professor Shu was a specialist trained in western medicine; hence it was fair to say that although he knew traditional Chinese medicine, he would not be as well versed in it as western medicine.

“Okay. No matter if it’s traditional Chinese medicine or western medicine, the objective is still the same, to treat the illness and reduce the patient’s suffering. You can continue with the treatment,” said Professor Shu. He was not like some western doctors that were repellent against traditional Chinese medicine. Conversely, he thought there were many good points about it, especially when it came to treatment of certain terminal illnesses. There were some unique features that western medicine was unable to emulate.

“So, you don’t need to look into it anymore?” This pleasant surprise was too sudden, and Wei Hai could hardly believe it was true.

“Why, you don’t believe me?”

“No, when do I come for a follow-up?”

“Come back in two months’ time. Before you come, give me a call,” said Professor Shu.

“Okay. Thank you. This is my little token of appreciation.” Wei Hai took a red packet from his pocket and gave it to Professor Shu.

“No need for this,” Professor Shu smiled and declined it. “When you go back, do rest more. And quit all the things I told you last time.”

“Yes.”

When Wei Hai left the doctor’s room, he felt much lighter. His body felt more comfortable, and he had a smile on his face.

When he arrived, his body was heavy. When he left, his body was light.

“It’s improving; it’s improving!” When he walked out of the hospital, he started sobbing quietly. Passers-by were all shocked and stared at him. After all, it was rare for a man to cry in public.

“What’s wrong with this guy?”

“Is he crying in sadness or in happiness?”

“Why do you care so much? You have an unknown object in front of you.”

“What?”

Bang!

In a particular area in Jing City, in a remote courtyard.

“He’s not willing to come?”

“Yes. I did not see him. Miss Guo did not allow me to see him. I’ve only brought back a bottle of decoction.”

“Alright, let Xue try it.”

“Hey, he did not absolutely reject the idea. It’s just that he did not want to come to Jing City for now.”

“Go.” The old man waved his hands. “My pitiful granddaughter!”

All his grandchildren were boys, and when he finally got a granddaughter, she was the apple of the family’s eye. She was deeply treasured by her family; hence it was unexpected that she had gotten this illness. The whole family was heartbroken.

Sigh. The old man in his 70’s let out a sigh.

….

Hahaha, ah!

In a high-class hotel, a man cried and laughed at the same time. Fortunately, the hotel’s soundproofing was quite good, and the people outside could not hear him; otherwise, they might notify the police.

Ah!

Wei Hai lay on the bed and looked at the ceiling. Ever since he had the surgery, he had never been this happy before.

“I will get better and watch my kids grow up daily. I will see my son and my daughter marry, and I can see my grandkids.”

In the endless darkness, a lamp lit up. It was hope.

Thousands of miles away, in Lianshan County, in Renhe clinic.

“Young lad, you’re great! It was really like you said. After I changed jobs, my body became better!”

The old man in his 70’s came to the clinic to express his gratitude. He was the old man who had headaches due to his job at the martyr memorial park. After he quit his job, he felt a visible improvement in his body within a week. He then realized that the young man’s words were true and not said carelessly. Hence he came specially to thank him. He had come before but did not see Wang Yao; this was his second time.
