The academy bell then rang.
Headmaster Dave Vorn's voice was reverberating across the sky.
"I welcome all our honored guests. Tomorrow will be when the Inter-Racial Competition begins. All of you rest, prepare and also meditate. This competition will shape the whole political future of the continent."
And with that, all the delegations scattered and when to their assigned quarters.
The demons are the ones who took the eastern hall.
The elves were the ones who settled in the garden sector, at the center of the academy.
The dwarves were the ones who took the western hall.
And the dragon's just went into isolated training, staying near the northern hall.
Adam was also preparing for the tournament, and also about to know which people will be fighting with him.
That's when he heard a voice call out to him.
"Human."
Adam turned to know who called out to him.
Ardyn was the one who was standing behind him.
The whole world then went quiet.
The true dragon was starring at him deeply, his eyes were burning like dying stars.
"It seems your hiding something from everyone," Ardyn said softly, "I sensed it briefly, however it shall show in due time."
Adam met his gaze firmly, he didn't answer nor did he flinch.
Ardyn then stepped closer.
"At the tournament, your secrets will be revealed."
A faint smile touched Ardyn's lips.
"And when that happens, everyone will know what you are."
The then turned and walked away.
Deep Within The Depths Of The Academy.
The ground was trembling.
And far beneath Silford Academy, and far below the sealed corridor and the forgotten ruins, there was a massive stone door that pulsed with black-red lines.
That was something that thrashed behind it.
It was something massive.
It was something ancient.
And it was very hungry.
And a monstrous voice whispered.
"Feed..."
The chains began cracking.
The first link.
Two.
Five.
And the beast that was beneath the academy was stirring awake.
And Kyrexis was ready.
It Was Now In The Middle Of The Might At Silford Academy.
Professors War Room — Strategy Meeting.
Adam and the team that were going to be partaking in the competition and several other instructors were all seated around a glowing crystal table.
Professor Veyra was the one leading the whole meeting.
"The demons will be the ones to target you first Adam, and the Elves are simply observing you. And the dragon's will watch, as always."
Adam didn't deny it, but he wasn't afraid either.
"So, who do you think I'll face first?"
"It'll start tomorrow morning," she answered, "It will be Humans vs Demons."
Finn groaned and Grace just cracked her knuckles.
Eve just sighed and Adam nodded once.
The tension in the room was thick but all of them were filled with silent determination.
Demons — Their Private Chamber
Dark torches were lit the the room as Azazel, the demon prince smirked.
"Tomorrow, I'll crush that interesting human first."
Serik curious, raised an eyebrow. "Why him first?"
Azazel's grin twisted even more.
"Because his calm demeanour annoys him, I despite that. Acting calm in my presence."
Brian just slammed his fist together.
"Finally, a worthy opponent!"
The Elves — Their Quiet Calculations
Eryndor the crown prince faced his team.
"Observe the human named Adam, if anything strange happens report it immediately."
Katherine frowned. "I wonder why your so focused on him."
Eryndor just looked away slowly. "There's something inside him that urks me."
'The power I received back then, flinched the moment I saw him.' he thought.
Katherine narrowed her eyes, and looked at her brother with suspicion. 'Somethings wrong with him, I don't know what it is yet."
The Dwarves — Betting.
Bramndor was sitting at a table with a huge jug of liquor in his hand. "Things are getting interesting, it smells like something big is about to happen."
Dragg was also holding his own liquor jug. "Your sense of smell has always been on point, this won't be boring it seems."
Bramndor grinned even wider. "Yeah, it won't."
Dragon Envoys — Meditating Alone
Ardyn sat in a circuit formation of runes, his eyes were closed.
But his throughts weren't calm, they were chaotic.
"That man, his aura felt familiar. That aura shouldn't be possible."
His heart was pounding.
"Why does he have her scent, my father said she perished long ago."
Deep Below The Academy — The Cult Was Moving
In the forgotten caverns beneath Silford Academy, there was a different gathering that was occuring.
There were dozens of cultists that knelt before a grotesque crystalline cocoon, it was pulsing with corruption mana.
The leader then raised his hood, half his body was still grotesque but it has healed faster than before.
Only half his face was left to seal.
This was:
Lord Nythrax, Apostle of Kyrexis
Rank: SS+
Affinities: Corruption, Darkness, Tainted Arcane
This was the apostle that battled Adam's mother way before.
His voice began to echo
"When the Inter-Racial Competition begins it shall bring forth chaos, and that chaos brings opportunity."
He then placed his palm on the crystal.
"With the beast sealed below this academy, the relic of the old war, it thirsts."
The entire carven started to tremble.
"Tomorrow, the nations will start to class, and then the first phase of unsealing shall begin."
All the cultists bowed deeper.
"All hail the devourer below."
Adam was walking alone through the academy garden, the moonlight was reflecting off his yellow-golden eyes.
He then stopped his walk by a stone pillar and he breathed deeply.
This wasn't out of fear, but it's because he could feel that everything was shifting at once:
The demons wanted to break him cause of his calmness.
The Elves who wanted to dissect him and uncover his secrets.
The Dwarves who were enjoying the spectacle and were waiting for the chaos to unfold.
The dragon envoy who had sensed his blood and was waiting.
And the cultists who were plotting beneath the academy.
The seal was weakening and the tournament was about to explode.
Adam then looked up at the moon. "Tomorrow everything will begin."
He tightened his gloves. "If they are so eager to challenge me, I'll show them why I'm still number one."
And then...
Adam felt a presence near him.
Someone was busy watching him, but Adam didn't turn around and simply said:
"You can come out, I know you there."
And from the shadows emerged...
Selena von Celestine
Water and Lightning
A-rank low
Her golden eyes were reflecting the moonlight while she approached.
She flashed him a warm smile.
"You seem uneasy."
Adam couldn't even deny it.
"You've always been observant of me."
She then stepped closer to him and sat right next him, she leaned her head against his shoulder. "Well I've known you ever since we were young, so I know how you act even if your hiding under that calm facade of yours."
Adam just let out a deep sigh. "I can't hide anything from you huh?"
Selena made a light giggle. "Just be careful tomorrow Adam, I don't think the demons are all you have to worry about."
Adam gave her a hat pat, he felt warm inside when she was worrying about him like this. "Yeah, thanks but I'll be fine."
Selena blushed slightly when Adam patted her head. "Hmm, I'll always be hear for you."
And they both sat there in silence for a while, enjoying the peace before the storm unfolds.
