How to Make the Perfect Demon Lord

Chapter 56: Attention players. The Reincarnation Games are temporarily stopped until further notice ::Part 1

Smoke covered the battlefield, trees near the explosion shattered into pieces as if they had never existed in the first place.

All the people in the stands rose from their seats in fear. For once, they felt like they were inside the games themselves. Because what now stood in front of them on the battlefield was something none of them had ever anticipated.

A loud ring echoed in Jamie's ears — the sound crushing, refusing to give him time to regain his senses.

He shook his head, trying to reboot back into action, but it proved useless.

"What happened…?"

he muttered, not even a little aware of what stood before him — only that its shadow covered him.

Dramatically, he raised his head.

Only to see a large beast, tall in the way giants are spoken of — its head nearly touching the skies above them.

Horns covered its face.

Small holes acted as an excuse to be called eyes.

And in the center of its face — a crystal.

The very thing that had fired the blast.

Its teeth were large.

Sharp as knives.

Whatever it was…

It didn't come to play with anyone.

But oddly enough, above all its ugly form, Jamie felt something strange — an urge, a pressure in his chest, like he had met the beast before.

"ROAR!!"

Watchers screamed. Some tried to run. Elf or human, no one had ever seen something so forbidden before.

Pew!

It fired another beam — not at the crowd, but directly at the man himself.

Jamie Noter.

BOOM!!

The blast crashed into the ground at the exact same spot.

Luckily — the elf of the Grid Lions reached him.

She grabbed him mid-impact.

Saving him from what would have been his corpse.

Thud. Thud.

Phu!!

She skidded across the dirt, losing balance, dust curling from her feet — Jamie resting on her shoulder.

"Wait! Why did you carry me? I'm your enemy!"

Jamie muttered as he jumped off her shoulder.

"That no longer matters!"

she spoke, her voice sharp, gaining Jamie's attention.

"Are you deaf or something? Can't you hear the announcement?!"

Confused, Jamie focused through the ringing in his ears.

For seconds… silence…

Then finally — the voice.

[Attention players. The Reincarnation Games are temporarily stopped until further notice. Please wait for extraction.]

The alarm looped endlessly.

"ROAR!!"

The beast turned its head, scanning — searching.

For something.

Or someone.

"For now, we just have to hold our own!"

she said.

"Meaning we have to work together if we are going to survive,"

Jamie finished.

Pew!

The beast fired again.

And once more — it aimed at Jamie.

BOOM!

The impact slammed into the forest floor, tearing a hole as Jamie dashed away.

Dust swallowed everything as they reached their new position.

"What does this thing have against me…?"

Jamie thought.

[All Watchers]

People screamed as they rushed from their seats — running from the very place where they had once celebrated violence.

"No way! I'm not going anywhere without Jamie!!"

Bray shouted, shoving through the flood of people exiting the stands.

He wasn't the only one who refused to leave.

In the VIP section, none of them moved.

Their eyes stayed glued to the battlefield — unwilling to interfere, but desperate to witness the chaos.

Cator's eyes slid toward the goddess… and then to the other overseers.

Everyone knew who could have done this.

But no one dared to challenge the goddess.

She had inexplicable power.

[When should we extract them, Goddess?]

Medusaa asked respectfully.

"Wait a few minutes first,"

the goddess replied.

"Don't you find this view amusing? We get the chance to see what the powerful newbies can do. Let's savor it as much as possible… We may not get candidates like them again."

She smiled — enjoying every second.

Pew!

BOOM!

The beast fired again.

And once more — not at anyone else.

But at Jamie.

As the dust settled, so did his thoughts.

"If it wanted to kill me… it would have done it already. There is something happening beneath all of this. The real question is… what?"

he wondered.

Sympathy stirred in his chest.

His resolve hardened.

He needed to understand this creature — its motives — before it died.

"Kill it!!!"

Some players screamed, activating their skills as they rushed and flew toward the beast.

"No— wait! Don't attack it! We have to understand it first!"

Jamie muttered, so low no one could truly hear him.

"People handle threats differently,"

the elf said.

"Besides… clan masters are watching. Nobody wants to look weak."

Jamie's eyes widened.

She was right.

No one would listen.

No one would stop.

If he didn't act now — it would die before he ever heard it speak.

Pew!!

Jamie moved — vanishing.

Extraordinary speed.

He rushed straight into the flying chaos.

Pow! Pow! Pow!

He punched the incoming attacks mid-air — sending them off course instantly.

"ROAR!!"

The beast roared — its crystal blazing even brighter.

There was no doubt.

It was about to fire again.

And Jamie Noter…

…was standing right in its path.

Pew!!

It fired.

The blast burned hotter than anything before.

It saw a chance to kill its prey.

And it took it.

Suddenly—

The world changed.

The forest vanished.

Now he stood inside the same white room.

The one with the chair.

The one with the ropes.

But this time…

He wasn't the one tied down.

He was standing.

Watching.

Someone else sat in the chair.

"Whose… that?"

he whispered as he moved closer.

Slow steps.

Slow breath.

Then—

The figure lifted her head.

It wasn't a boy.

It wasn't even human.

It was the demon they had met before, Emma Rider.

Tears streamed from her eyes.

Veins bulged.

Blood leaking from her body.

Jamie shivered.

She had once been beautiful.

Now she looked broken.

Not dangerous.

Just… hurt.

A beautiful being turned into something ugly by pain.

She lifted her head fully.

Slowly.

Her voice cracked.

"Save… me… Jamie…"

BOOM!!

The beast outside exploded into pieces. Blood started to fall like rain from the skies.
