The sky was ironically clear, and it looked like it was going to be a quiet day. But it was quite the opposite for the demons who lived in the barony and the demonic viscountcy.
Outskirts of the barony.
-Fight.
-Stop the humans.
-For our families.
The demons of the barony were mostly of the insect lineage, however, the barony only had a few warriors and demonic mages in the fourth rank, so the confrontation with the humans was proving to be practically one-sided.
Blood and hemolymph stained the ground, and the heads, limbs, and bodies of demons fell 10 to 1 compared to humans.
A tall demon with brown skin, sharp green eyes, two red antennae, and long arms and legs wore an elegant black and dark green uniform and held two purple sickles with which he had already killed some mercenaries in the fourth and fifth ranks. He was the only reason the remaining demons continued to fight, but he soon realized the futility of the struggle and exclaimed:
"Humans, we will surrender if you let the demon women and children go."
Liken, who commanded the attack, was disappointed that most of the demons were of the insect lineage, because humanoid demons were the most sought after in the slave market, especially beautiful demon women.
"At least I should have some fun," thought Liken, who had remained in the rear with his trusted subordinates, since the enemy was not strong enough to force them to participate in the confrontation.
"Lower your weapons and we will grant your request!" exclaimed Liken.
"Swear it by the mana that gives you your power," said the demon of the sickles, who was the baron of the demonic territory that was being attacked.
"Demonic scum, I tried to be considerate and you demand an oath from me. You are nothing but a plague. Kill them if they resist, capture the rest so they can see the result of their leader's insolence," ordered Liken maliciously, as he never had any intention of reaching an agreement.
In the end, a little over an hour after the attack began, the demons who defended the barony were almost wiped out, and the remaining ones were forced to watch as their wives and children were tortured, killed, or imprisoned to be turned into slaves.
Since the mercenary Liken had no interest in the demons of the insect lineage, he killed the demon baron's son and wife in front of him, then cut off his limbs and locked him in a cage.
The mercenary Liken did not achieve victory alone. With him was Baron Sed, who merely ordered his men to kill the foolish demons as best they could.
Demonic Viscounty
Although the demonic viscounty had a relatively stronger military force than the barony, they could not avoid being completely overwhelmed by the humans led by General Alphens and Count Morgan Whithe. The Count was the main reason why the demons fell so easily, as he was the only member of the Duke's Military Council to participate in the battles against the demons, and his power was overwhelming and decisive.
After every last demon defending the viscountcy had fallen dead, the soldiers entered the demon city and found in every residence the poisoned bodies of demon women and children who had chosen a dignified end to avoid falling into the atrocious hands of the humans.
••••
The demonic vehicles advanced toward Mount Marrac.
Selef watched the outside world from the window next to his seat, while Isirid rested her head on his right shoulder as she slept.
Selef felt a tingling sensation in the cursed mark around his forearm. He looked at Derio, who was sharpening his swords, and then at Leyla, who remained silent.
Selef closed his eyes and recited in his mind the prayer he had created to activate the cursed energy he now possessed.
"Curses are real.
They project intentions.
They are songs of envy,
suffering, and pain.
Resentment never dies.
Tell me, why do you resent?"
The moment he finished praying, he felt hatred, anger, resentment, and fear coming from the borders of the land of demons. Beyond that, he clearly heard the cries, hatred, and resentment of thousands of demons dying and suffering.
"Mother, I'm scared."
"Damn humans."
"Anyone, help, please."
"May you perish horribly, damned humans."
"I hate them. I hate them."
"Die, die."
Selef understood even more the impact of the conspirators' actions.
[Anger trait activated]
[Host's strength temporarily increased by +40]
Selef calmed down; that was one of the benefits of the intelligence attribute, it allowed him to increase his self-control. He deactivated his cursed energy, and the murmurs he heard stopped.
At his side, Isirid watched him. She knew the characteristics of cursed energy well, as her grandfather was a feared expert in the cursed arts.
She wanted to ask him if something had happened, but she also knew she mustn't be careless with her words. Selef smiled, kissed her on the forehead, and then nodded.
Seeing him nod at last, she understood that something had happened.
"Those conspiring demons should be labeled as false demons. Not a single one of them should be left. They sacrificed cities by handing them over to humans. They cannot even be considered demons," thought Selef as he looked at the sky from the window.
He knew that distracting himself from his goals would only result in chaos, so he decided to continue as planned. Even so, he couldn't help but feel some pressure. Now he knew that the enemy was not planning to hold back a single card in order to achieve its goals.

The demonic vehicle continued on its course, and when the sky was reddish orange, they arrived at Marrac Mountain with only two hours to go before nightfall.
The students from the different classes got out of the vehicles and gathered in orderly rows and columns near their class teachers to listen to the instructions that Professor Dervec Sej would give.
