Reincarnated as the Death God's Vessel

Chapter 71: The Night That Dark Bleeds

The face of the soldier's panic made Lidien smile, then he walked towards the Beastfolk chasing the soldier, who was panting heavily.

"Prince of the Blood Rose Clan, surrender all your troops if you don't want us to massacre all of them."

The Beastfolk stared at Lidien intently, waiting for his movements... alert.

Then, he giggled... and turned into a maniacal laugh as his eyes turned crimson, looking at the joke of a beastfolk in front of him.

"Are you threatening me? Bring me back to your Matriarch... looks like she doesn't know the weight of her actions."

Then before he could walk towards the Dark Wolf Castle, Lidien stared at his soldier, smiling at him menacingly.

"Tell me everything about why they're chasing you."

The soldier gulped and followed Alva and Lidien meekly.

Dusk was swallowed by the night before Lidien, along with Alva and his soldier, could get inside the Dark Wolf Palace.

The scent of the Xocoatl was too strong, as he watched all the Elders and even the Matriarch drink the tea... dedicated for nobility as if it was just a simple commodity.

Lidien couldn't help but smile, and faced the Matriarch with his resolute gaze.

"Free my soldiers, and I'll assure you we will leave this Territory without making any unnecessary fight."

The Matriarch shook her head and gently sipped the tea she was holding, leaving her face with a satisfied smile.

"No... We cannot let you leave the territory, as long as we do not know that you are safe..."

Lidien gripped his hands, as he stared at the Matriarch and all the Elders smirking at him.

"Me? Safe? Why? Do you have the right to tell me that?"

Then, the Matriarch laughed... so loud it reverberated inside the Throne hall, as she mocked Lidien.

"Idiot Prince... you didn't even know your Mother brought you here as a Sacrifice... you didn't even know that your own soldiers were spreading havoc, killing my soldiers to make us hate you and kill you for being here..."

Then, it was the Soldier of Lidien who shouted back, not at the Matriarch but at the Prince who was staring daggers at him.

"No! It's a lie my Prince... we didn't kill anyone! It was them... the Beastfolk suiciding in front of us!"

Lidien then smirked and stared at the Matriarch, his smile turning from ear to ear.

"See... it was your own people killing their own! Tell me where my soldiers are, and I'll see to it this will just be a normal day for us."

No one could stay silent, as everyone shouted at Lidien how foolish of a prince he was, that he became so delusional he believed what his assassinator was plotting against him, without him knowing.

But his soldier continued to reason out... telling all the details he saw before the beastfolk died.

"My Prince... believe me, it was them dying in front of us... We were just drunk, and I admit we were holding our weapons because of the heated arguments... but he really did die on his own."

Then Lidien crouched in front of his soldier, kneeling as he himself banged his head on the wooden floor.

"Tell me exactly, how did the beastfolk die..."

The soldier stared at Lidien's crimson eyes, his snot falling along with his tears, a fear for his life as he stared at the infamous Heart Eater.

"H-he... transformed... and for a second, he was bigger, stronger... then his muscles just... locked. He started convulsing, coughing up thick, black blood... th-then... just like that... H-He died."

Lidien chuckled, a low, dark sound that cut through the Elders' shouts. All pretense of the frantic prince vanished from his face, replaced by the cold calm of a general. His eyes slitted as he disregarded their explanations entirely.

Then, he tapped his soldier's shoulder... and smiled at him before saying.

"Alva, go free the soldiers... we won't wait for Mad Dog."

With just a nod, Alva morphed into her Beast Form, making her eyes turn emerald bright, and her hair and bristles turn snow white... that couldn't be hidden by her Leather Armor.

"Snow Fox!"

Then, Alva... grabbed the arms of the Soldier and immediately killed the two Dark Wolf Soldiers guarding the Entrance, beheading them flawlessly without a fight.

It was too sudden...

That even the Matriarch couldn't comprehend how hot-headed the Blood Rose Clan's Prince was.

Then, as she saw Lidien morph into his Blood Form, a distinctive feature of a Demon of Wrath... she concluded the reason.

Lady Rose offered the Hot-Headed Demon of Wrath as a Sacrifice, ensuring a fight would really break out along with the incitement of his own soldier.

The Matriarch clapped, a slow, grim sound that echoed in the suddenly silent hall.

The puzzle pieces of Lady Rose's ruthless gambit were finally coming together.

She saw now there would be no avoiding war.

"In the end," she whispered, a grudging respect in her voice,

"you won the initiative, Lady Rose."

As she raised her hand, everyone stopped and stared daggers at Lidien, left alone inside the Dark Wolf Palace.

"Let your death be the Mark of our Glorious Return in the Savage Expanse."

As she brought it down, hundreds of present Dark Wolf Soldiers attacked Lidien simultaneously without transforming themselves.

Lidien, in a fraction of a second, pulled tens of daggers from his space ring and randomly threw them in front of him, piercing everyone who was unluckily hit.

As he leaped back to widen the gap, he activated his Incite of Blood... making his eyes zigzag, analyzing everyone's movement.

Then he smiled, as his claw met one's heart that came unprepared for belittling him.

"Foolish dogs..."

Lidien activated the Incite of Blood to its absolute limit. His verve seized control of his own circulatory system, flooding his muscles with oxygenated power and launching him into a blur of motion that the eye could barely follow.

Slashing the heads of tens who got near him first, splashing blood everywhere... bathing him crimson as he laughed maniacally, tasting the coppery blood that touch his lips.

"Ahhh... I miss this feeling..."
