After minutes of flying around, destroying the beautiful environment of the training world, Saquin finally calmed down.
He hovered gently in the sky...
"Ha." He sighed.
Fun time was over, now it was time to get to work. Again.
He did not come here just to see the effect of the skills, he also had to understand a bit of its essence.
It was also why he had primarily started with Skills instead of Abilities.
With Skills, it would be a lot much easier to understand how they function, even if he does not crack it down completely, he would still have some things figured out.
He flew down and sat on the bare grass.
Time to get his thoughts aligned.
First, he had to ask himself.
What is the difference between a Skill and an Ability?
He did not need the World Will to answer this, from the little he had come across, the answer was already available to him.
Abilities are what you can do.
Innately.
When it comes to Abilities, you are born with it. It is generally what you are capable of doing, but with Senar backing you up.
Take him for example, his Ability { Unliving } is literally just his inherited knowledge and powers derived from his Unliving side packed into one title.
His { Might } is just the system way of representing the fact that he had practically infinite stamina and an incredible physical potential.
His { Regeneration } is the system way of taking notes of his Unliving part endurance and healing factor.
All these are things he already possessed without both Senar and the System.
The System just help qualify and facilitate them. It has no concrete power over them, hence the fact that even though it can only awaken latent Abilities and not just grant one in a wimp.
In fact, Saquin was sure that Abilities dropping as loots were rare and that they were not truly the Abilities themselves.
It was most probably the System grasping the essence of said Ability, probably due to the death of the owner, and then copying it into a sequence.
If the one who wanted to assimilate it was not innately capable of achieving what was proposed by the Ability sequence, it would not work.
This conclusion made him remember his own situation with his bloodline.
A unique Bloodline.
What does being Unique entail?
It literally means you are one of a kind. You might not be the strongest but what you possess was something different.
It is not like you possess something entirely unheard of, but, it is something that is not just the same as any other.
If the bloodline flowing in him has this property, it would be a hassle for it to accommodate something more of the normal frequency.
Only other bloodlines with the unpredictable frequency can flow together with it.
The Empowered World was really fascinating.
Talk about the ranking of things.
Supreme. It is definitely the highest. It most likely represents a level that had transcended the normal range and is now in a field of its own.
But how does this even work?
Saquin took his [ Dead Cold ] Ability as the case study.
Since it was an Ability, it had to represent something he could naturally do. In other words, Dead Cold represents his Affinity of Ice, of low temperatures, the dead variant.
Since it was a Supreme, it means his natural Affinity/talent for the cold had reached a level that exceeds normal calculation. It had reached the highest peak possible.
But
Something to note was, even though the System was the giver or controller of Abilities, it was still the System.
It knows more of your Ability than you do.
So, to take Dead Cold as a case study again.
[ Dead Cold (Supreme) { Zombie-based } -- A dead body is cold. You are cold to both the touch and the environment ]
The conclusion:
"I have been using this Ability the wrong way."
Drawing aid from the System, it is easy for one to infer the direction or specific attunement that an Ability possesses.
The words used to describe Dead Cold were vague to say the very least, but it was all that was needed.
A dead body is cold.
This is to show that I possess this Ability as a result of being part Zombie, an Unliving.
You are cold to both the touch and the environment.
Here was the explanation of what the ability itself does.
At the time he had Awakened, he had not paid much attention to the explanation. After seeing his Ice Affinity up to and then this Ability, he naturally assumed what it did.
But he was wrong.
He used the Ability like it was the skill [ Ice Manipulation ].
This was fundamentally wrong.
To better understand how it was wrong, one would have to take a look at his Type. It was a no brainer his human side was of the { Space-Walker } Assassin. So, his Zombie part is of the { Brute } Fighter type.
And since as he had discovered earlier, it was your Ability that determines your Type.
Meaning his core Zombie Ability was an on hands type of Ability that was capable of pushing him into the brute zone.
Following this train of thought, it was easy to now understand the system explanation and see that it was absolutely right and concise.
If he wanted to use Dead Cold the right way, he had to get up close and personal...
Saquin stood still for a moment.
Then.
His form blurred as he flipped up into the sky.
A form flashed past his sitting position spot not a second later.
Saquin's eyes followed the form.
It was a beast.
It looked like the famous earth beast of the olden age, before the First Fall, a lion.
Well, a lioness.
As this beast was lacking the mane.
The lioness beast managed to control itself before it went on an unwanted journey due to Saquin's immaculate dodge. Its body spun mid air to face Saquin, it was ideal to keep its eyes on its prey at all times. Using its jagged inches long glowing claws to dig into the ground, making it come to an abrupt stop.
Saquin was fascinated by the beast's capabilities. He was sure that its movement just now should not be possible, the beast was going too fast prior to its sudden stop. Such maneuverability should not be physically possible without sustaining some sort of internal injury.
Then, there was the hold on the ground too, in a normal situation, it was meant to slide backwards for a while before the claws did their job.
But, Saquin did not really want to waste his time on the beast.
So.
{ Unliving Breath. }
A torrent of ice-fog shot towards the beast.
The beast responded to the attack in kind... By dodging.
Boom!
Due to the fact that the beast was too close to Saquin, his breath ended up being close too.
He had to blink away to ensure that he was not affected by his own attack.
Just.
The beasts did not let him rest for a second before it was on him again.
It was fast.
But not as smart.
Saquin dodged a claw strip to his head deftly as his punch found its way to the beast abdomen.
To Saquin's surprise, the beats tanked it, no stress.
"Tch." Saquin scoffed as he dodged the beast's lunge. This time, taking advantage of the opening, three consecutive punches hit home.
Just to do about nothing.
The beast was fine.
And it was not relenting in this battle.
Saquin weaved through all the beast's attacks easily. Occasionally, he delivered a couple of punches on it but it seemed immune to physical damage.
Martial Body Movement.
Saquin moved in on the beast, he danced through its claws range and reached his destination.
Its tail.
He picked the beast up and slammed it into the ground with his full strength.
Bang!!!
The result was a crater holding a beast with the slightest bit of a nose bleed.
Rawwrrrr!!!
The beast lets out a violent roar as it wanks its tail free of Saquin's grasp.
But Saquin was not done.
Not yet.
{ Unliving Breath. }
Another one.
This one was a hit.
The beast's body drew a trench into the ground. An over twenty meter frozen one.
Saquin's expression soon squeezed up.
The beast was still alive.
It was barely injured.
And that was not the most annoying part.
It was fucking healing.
"Annoying." Saquin spat out as he moved.
His form blurred as he appeared before the beast.
He was tempted to use his Dead Cold Ability, but he still decided not to. He would only use it after he was completely sure of how to really use it.
But one Ability down did not mean much to Saquin.
He grabbed hold of the beast and slammed it down.
Again.
And again.
Till.
Bang.
He heard the crack.
Its skull.
But the beast was not ready to go down just like that.
Rawwwrrrr!!!
Another roar.
A purple mist drifted off the beast body as its body size began to expand.
Before Saquin knew it, he was standing in a crater with a three meter tall, savage lioness beast radiating enough baleful Aura to fill a city.
"Eh."
Saquin signed.
"Truce?"
