Unliving-Living

Chapter 65: Insane Improvements...

Saquin stared at Viva with a new found respect.

He knew that as a Divine Beast, she was not to be trifled with. After all, she was the user of the broken ability of damage absorption, but this?

This is the same as having multiple lives.

But what really inspired the awe was not the ability itself. No, it was the fact that Viva had it. After possessing a broken Ability like damage absorption, and her other support type abilities like her purple beam, she also had such an ability.

He now believed what the World Will was telling him. Divines were truly of a different breed.

But, still...

It changes nothing really.

He would still kill the beast.

Viva shared the sentiment. She did not even consider that she was at death's door just moments ago when she lunged at him with full force.

Saquin pushed his left foot out and took a lax stand as he watched the beast reach him in no time.

Putting force in his left leg, he shot forward as his body tilted to the, evading the beast.

Slice!!!

Crystalisse was employed to cut a gash straight from the side of the beast's head to its tail.

Rawrrrr!!!

Viva roared in agony.

Saquin did not relent.

This time he was not planning on leaving the job to the poison. He spun on his heels, his form twisting with his motion. Using the built up momentum, he let go of [ Black-Ink ], sending it into a throw.

The shapeshifting weapon had now taken the form of a spear, which was promptly pierced into Viva.

The weapon pinned the now 5-meter tall beast to the ground.

Saquin never one to miss an opportunity, especially one he created himself, moved in. Crystalisse glimmered in the natural light of the mini world as it approached Viva's eyes with unmatched speed.

If this attack was a hit, her brain would be pierced through, poisoned and also frozen, it would be a guaranteed death, no revivals.

Alas, as we have learnt through the fight, a Divine would not go down so easily.

Poof.

Saquin's dagger pierced nothing but aura as Viva's form dispersed into purple aura.

{ Spatial Awareness }.

Saquin did not miss a beat as he Blinked away from the spot.

Viva's claws came down and delivered judgement upon his former spot.

He paid it no heed as his dagger was already going for the kill once more.

Viva at this moment knew that Saquin would not relent in his offence and most likely would succeed in attacking with that dagger of death again. This time though, it would make sure she was dead. So.

Boom!

She detonated the purple aura around her.

Saquin was thrown back from the immense force as it rocked his mind.

Bang. Bang. Bang.

He went tumbling through the ground for a distance before coming to a stop.

Voom!

Without catching his breath he sprung up to his feet as his eyes were trained on Viva again.

[ Frozen Gaze ]

He used the Ability without a moment wasted. His vision sharpened and extended as his eyes carried in them, the weight of death.

Rawrrrr!!!

Viva lets out another roar, this one way more deafening than the others.

It rocked the whole surroundings for kilometers to come as the immediate kilometer surrounding her experienced something akin to a small earthquake.

Saquin felt the ground tremor from the vibration just as the sound reached him.

He gritted his teeth in agony as blood dropped down his ears, but he did not avert his eyes.

Viva was in just as much agony as he was as she could feel herself freezing straight from inside out. And so, she held the roar. As a lioness, her roar was not as powerful as that of a male, but there were certain perks to being a Divine.

And so, the two engaged in mutual destruction.

That was till Viva received another surge in power from her accumulated damage. There was still poison in her system from Saquin's Crystalisse attack, but she could deal with it better now that she had experienced it before.

But still, she had to end this fast or else...

And so she decided to up the tempo with the mighty human in front of her.

Tinnnn!!!

A siren-like sound pulsed through the booking sound of her roar as...

Bam!!!

A purple beam burst forth from her as she switched up attacks.

The purple beam carrier with its tremendous power as it approached Saquin. At first, he thought to dodge by blinking, but then decided against that as he had the urge to test out something.

And sure enough he was right, not that he thought he would be. It was just a hunch and it turned out to work.

The beam was stopped halfway from Saquin as he blew it apart by responding in kind to the attack with his own,

{ Unliving Breath. }

An explosion followed the collision which was then pierced through by another purple beam. This time it was stronger and faster, but most importantly, Viva was holding the blast. In other words, she wanted to see who would win in an exchange.

This was when Saquin indulged her by testing out his hunch.

He used [ Frozen Gaze ] to fight the attack off instead of { Unliving Breath }. And it worked.

The visual at the point of contact of the two Abilities was a scene to behold.

Viva's purple beam, looking away from its deadly aspect, was a beautiful sight to behold due to its natural blend of different shades of purple. It looked like a stream of purple energy pooling together but also dispersing at the same time.

The sight of this beautiful beam being held at bay by a half sphere blue film of some sort was truly a rare sight...

The two became locked in another exchange... With Viva trying to attack directly and Saquin's Ability trying to freeze that very attack but failing, hence stopping it in its tracks.

The exchange did not last very long before the two pushed out violently, letting the two forms of attack dissolve into a detonation.

Saquin had not used an energy attack, but he had also expanded a great deal of Senar, meaning, the attack may lack substance, doesn't mean it lacked energy.

Speaking of energy, it seemed the two were not close to wearing themselves down as they continued with their crazy battle...

This time it was back to close range.

And the sequence of events goes thus:

Viva performed another [ Life exchange ], opting into a new body to get rid of the poison Saquin had afflicted on her.

This time though, Saquin noticed that her purple aura had dimmed significantly.

He noted that there seems to be a price to pay for cheating death like that.

He did not have time to get more into his thoughts as Viva launched an attack again.

Saquin, with the notion that she was weaker, engaged her. And sure enough, he was right, she was weaker in power.

It was too bad that the awakening inheritance was interfering with results as Viva actually got stronger even with the drop in overall power. Her claws strips were more precise, her lunges deadlier, her beam attacks were used in close range at undeniably good timing.

But,

Saquin was also seeing improvements...

The first aspect was in the aspects of his skills.

{ Ice Manipulation } and {Assassination King } most especially got the MVP treatment.

Each of them integrating with him better and better with each passing moment.

Another highlight of the fight is the fact that Saquin grew much more comfortable with Senar.

His control over the energy deepened in response to Viva's growing speed.

His control peaked when Viva actually stopped increasing in size and started a downward spiral in size. She got leaner and leaner as her speed increased by leaps and bounds.

With her increased speed, her attacks started grazing him, leaving marks all over his body, especially those parts not covered by Feathered Royalty. The marks promptly healed but it was not a great feeling, so he hardened his control of Senar to be able to create Senar Skin. A layer of protection against outside conditions.

But soon enough, he still had to evolve as Viva was not stopping. She was growing stronger as fast as someone falling off a cliff. By this point she was showing downright immunity to Crystalisse poison.

Saquin knew he could actually tweak the poison's properties a bit and still use it to kill the beast, but he reframed. He was starting to enjoy the fight, plus, he was seeing improvements that would otherwise have taken him months in this single battle.

So, he switched from tactic Assassination, to tactic brute beating.

This was when he started employing his Cores. They might not be as strong as his Soul-Bound, but they could hold their own, especially with his Senar constantly coursing through them.

But soon enough, he soon reached an impasse in improvement as he had gotten most of what was possible from a single fight.

Also, he had reached the maximum control level a Senar Initiate could achieve. It was how the power system functioned, there was a limit, and there was no bypassing this limitation, even for a Divine.

At the end of the road though, he realized that he was not done yet...

There were still his Abilities to better...

It was a good thing that [ Might ] was now showing its use as Viva continued to grow stronger.

With the activation of [ Might ], he realized that he was also a monster.

His physical capabilities kept on climbing higher and higher, thereby helping him keep up with the ever growing Viva.

Though he could tell, she was approaching her limit in improvement.

He was too.

And at this trajectory, it was a guarantee that she would end up being physically superior to him.

But he had no fear, after all, he could feel it...

His main Abilities are starting to truly awaken and integrate with him.

Starting with...

[ Prince Of Space ].
