Chapter 1266: Phantom Ship

"Green Wood, what were those things that bit us?" After three Japanese men were carried into the infirmary, the short and stout Japanese man asked the Onmyoji.

The Onmyoji had not yet spoken when the Samurai shouted irritably, "What else could it be, it must be sharks."

"It's not sharks," the Onmyoji calmly and assuredly replied, "it's phantoms."

Just then, two Japanese police officers walked in to question them about the earlier incident.

The three Japanese men suffered great losses; a wonderful tour turned into a nightmare, but when the police questioned them, they remained tight-lipped. By now, they were fully aware of Wang Xiaoqiang and his companions' powers, far beyond what they could contend with, and any thoughts of revenge would have to wait until they were back in Japan.

Then the police came to question Wang Xiaoqiang and his companions. To avoid trouble, Wang Xiaoqiang casually said it was a joke, and he accidentally fell into the sea. Seeing his attitude, the police were helpless, as the saying goes, if the people don't complain, the officials won't pursue it, so the matter was dropped.

Soon after, night fell upon the sea, and the cruise ship lit up. With such a huge cruise ship, once the lights were on, it looked like a city at night, truly magnificent.

Suddenly...

A huge black object appeared ahead. The navigation staff discovered it first and quickly reported it to the sailing personnel. The cruise ship's speed immediately slowed, and they carefully examined the object, finally confirming it was a giant sunken ship.

Only a small part was exposed above water, while the majority was submerged. But even that small part looked like a mountain peak. If it hadn't been discovered in time, the cruise ship might have collided with it, with unimaginable consequences.

"Oh my God, such a huge sunken ship..." the captain exclaimed.

"Captain, how did this sunken ship suddenly appear?"

"You're asking me; who am I supposed to ask? Maybe it was always here, just never noticed by anyone..."

"Captain, there must be a lot of treasures on this sunken ship. Should we send sailors over to explore it..."

"It's dangerous at night... those sailors might not agree easily."

"Captain, quite the opposite; I think they'd be eager for it."

...

On the deck, tourists also looked ahead at the sunken ship like a mountain peak, exclaiming with wonder and discussing loudly, speculating which historic sunken ship it was, guessing whether there were treasures aboard.

"Doesn't it look like a ghost ship... it looks too much like it... has anyone seen the movie..."

"Ha, Boer, your imagination is really wild; can you take movies seriously?"

...

Looking at the sunken ship ahead, Wang Xiaoqiang suddenly remembered the things that bit during the day and instructed Zhao Feiyan and True Person of Taiyi next to him, "Expand your divine sense to check if there are any life forms on this sunken ship..."

Zhao Feiyan and True Person of Taiyi followed the instruction and extended their divine sense, discovering no fixed-shaped life forms on the ship but finding some constantly changing-shaped entities. These entities were clearly the things that bit the three Japanese men during the day.

Upon this discovery, they were surprised. Then they informed Wang Xiaoqiang, who listened and couldn't help but say, "Could that be so-called phantoms?"

"Since there are ghosts in the world, phantoms must exist as well," True Person of Taiyi said.

"It's said phantoms are vengeful spirits. If someone dies with resentment, their spirit can become a phantom after death..."

"Yes, with such a large sunken ship, surely many people died unwillingly and with grievances when the ship sank, thus becoming phantoms. These phantoms are filled with resentment and have a sense of revenge, wishing other ships to sink and many people to die, becoming their kind. Furthermore, these phantoms seem to enjoy eating human flesh, which is why they acted against us during the day. Also, this sunken ship must have been deliberately moved here by these phantoms, blocking the cruise path when it's dark, to hopefully sink the cruise we are on..."

After Wang Xiaoqiang finished his analysis, he turned his gaze to True Person of Taiyi and asked, "Does this theory make sense?"

"That's likely the case, but it requires further observation," True Person of Taiyi replied.

By this time, the cruise ship slowly came to a halt, stopping only fifty meters away from the sunken ship. A spotlight was cast on the sunken ship, revealing it was indeed a ship, very large in size, and upon seeing it, all the tourists on the cruise ship expressed their amazement.

They only saw the sunken ship, unaware it was continuously moving, albeit slightly. Actually, even if people noticed this phenomenon, they wouldn't be excessively alarmed or pay much attention, as the ship was in the water, not fixed, and bound to move.

After the cruise stopped, a small boat was promptly lowered into the water, with four sailors putting on life jackets and oxygen tanks. Fully equipped, they seemed prepared to dive and explore the sunken ship.

"What are they doing?"

"Greedy enough to eat an elephant; they're thinking of finding treasures on the sunken ship."

"Isn't that going to their deaths."

Wang Xiaoqiang said, "You all stay on the cruise; I'll dive to the sunken ship to take a look..."

"Little Qiang, I'll accompany you," Zhao Feiyan said.

"No need; it's not pleasant in sea water." Wang Xiaoqiang patted Zhao Feiyan's fragrant shoulder, "Rest assured, I'm the Undying Golden Body; I won't die."

As he spoke, Wang Xiaoqiang silently dove headlong from the deck into the sea with a splash, then swam towards the sunken ship.

Wang Xiaoqiang released all the Five Elements Spirit Spring from his body, as he had no Qi Refining Cultivation. Without it, he couldn't open his divine sense; he could only rely on his eyes and physical body to perceive as he swam towards the sunken ship.

The lowered boat finally landed on the water, and four sailors entered the water, also swimming toward the sunken ship.

Wang Xiaoqiang knew they were in danger, but those ship staff and sailors wouldn't listen to him, so he didn't make the unnecessary act of warning them. Besides, Wang Xiaoqiang wasn't a great do-gooder; he wouldn't swim ahead of the four sailors to protect them.

Why should a greed like theirs be rewarded!

Originally, docking the cruise at this moment was irresponsible to all tourists, driven by greed for treasures, disregarding everything. Why should Wang Xiaoqiang worry about them.

The four sailors swam to the sunken ship first, circled it, and after ensuring there was no danger, they dove under the water to explore the ship and search for treasures.

Seeing the "phantoms" hadn't bitten the four sailors surprised Wang Xiaoqiang. Hence, he followed them, dove underwater, and started treasure hunting, which, for someone of Wang Xiaoqiang's stature, was no longer about treasures but an adventure, a leisure pursuit. Life was too mundane; seeking some excitement was needed. (To be continued. If you enjoy this work, we welcome you to visit Qidian (qidian.com) to vote for recommendations, monthly tickets.
