Superpower Small Farmer

Chapter 369

"Little Qiang, should we go back?"

"Hmm, Qingcheng, then let's enjoy a few more days outside before heading back."

"No problem, after all, it's you who's paying. It wouldn't matter if it were a few days or a few months..." Ye Qingcheng, who seldom traveled, had decided to have a blast this time since she had found a boyfriend with a deep cultivation base and wealth, leaving her overjoyed. She also decided to commit and entrust her life to him.

"Hey, how about we go to Heavenly Pool to see the Water Monster today?" Ye Qingcheng suggested.

"Sure, but is there really a Water Monster in Heavenly Pool?"

"Of course, I've seen it before, though it was with Divine Sense, which ordinary people can't see..."

"Er..." Wang Xiaoqiang thought about how his Divine Sense only covered a range of five meters, so he probably couldn't see it, but having heard that the scenery of Heavenly Pool was quite good, he agreed.

While heading to Heavenly Pool on the Flying Boat, Ye Qingcheng tirelessly explained the origins of Heavenly Pool to Wang Xiaoqiang.

Heavenly Pool, once known as "Turquoise Pool," is a natural scenic area centered around a high mountain lake. It is 37 kilometers from Fukang City Area, and 97 kilometers from the capital of the autonomous region, Urumqi. The Heavenly Lake of Tian Shan scenic area has a planned total area of 548 square kilometers, consisting of 8 major scenic regions, 15 scenic clusters, and 38 scenic spots, and is a typical mountain-type natural landscape of the arid northwest region of China.

Heavenly Lake of Tian Shan is located 100 kilometers northeast of Urumqi, on the north slope of Bogda Peak. The lake's surface is at an elevation of 1910 meters, is 3.5 kilometers long from south to north, and 0.8 to 1.5 kilometers wide from east to west, with a depth reaching 103 meters at its deepest point. The lake is surrounded by spruces and reflected by snow peaks, presenting a spectacular sight, and it is a famous spot for both summer retreat and tourism. The origin of Heavenly Lake has two theories: one suggests it was formed by ancient glacial erosion and end moraines damming the lake, the other by landslides and damming. The Sangong River flowing out of Heavenly Lake is the main irrigation source for agriculture and animal husbandry in the foothills' Fukang County. The Heavenly Lake of Tian Shan scenic area, with its high mountain lake at the center, snow peaks reflected, surrounding spruces, and mirror-like clear water, provides a scenically picturesque view.

It is said that Heavenly Pool was originally a precious mirror of Gold Star Taibai. Queen Mother of the West had two daughters with the beauty of blossoms and the moon, and it was difficult to tell who was more beautiful. At a certain feast of peaches, Gold Star Taibai pulled out his treasure mirror and claimed that it could reveal the more beautiful one. The younger daughter took the mirror and glanced at her reflection before shyly passing it to her sister. The elder sister admired her reflection from every angle in the mirror, becoming increasingly convinced of her own beauty. At that moment, the treasure mirror spoke: "I think the younger sister is more beautiful." Out of anger, the elder sister threw the treasure mirror down into the Turquoise Pool, where it fell to the mortal world and became Heavenly Pool. Another legend tells of a fire demon in Changbai Mountain, spewing flames and smoke, scorching all the plants to dryness. The fierce flames covered the daylight, and the people suffered unbearably. A girl named Azalea, to subdue the wicked fire demon, plunged into its belly with a block of ice, using it to douse the fiery blaze. After the fire was extinguished, the mountaintop turned into a lake. This is evidenced by the modern poem "Heavenly Literature Peak of Changbai Mountain": The long mountain wraps in silken luminescence, as Heavenly Pool shrouds mist to the poet's delight; the clouds unveil with gentle sun's emergence, as Mother Wang bathes unnoticed from sight.

Changbai Mountain, like a jade dragon, stretches out on the northeastern frontier of China. It is famous both at home and abroad for its beautiful and fertile landscapes. The main peak's Heavenly Pool on Mount Paektu is a renowned volcanic lake, with its deepest part reaching 373 meters and an average depth of 204 meters. Heavenly Pool has long attracted numerous visitors with its crystal-clear waters, boiling hot springs, and thundering waterfalls, but since August 1962 when someone spotted two Water Monsters chasing each other on the lake's surface with a telescope, its reputation has grown even more. The authorities established the "Heavenly Pool Water Monster Observation Station" by the lake. Researchers conducted long-term observations and captured valuable data, confirming the presence of unidentified creatures roaming in the water, but the specific species remains unclear. After conducting several tests on Heavenly Pool's water, they concluded that there are no living organisms in the lake. If there are no living organisms, what would a Water Monster feed on? These series of questions add to Heavenly Pool's mystical and beautiful allure, drawing more and more people to visit. Reporters have also captured footage of suspected Water Monsters at Heavenly Pool, but upon closer inspection, they turned out to be speedboats from Korea.

On a noontime in August of the year 51976, by the azure and serene Heavenly Pool at the base of Heavenly Literature Peak, towering into the clouds of Changbai Mountain, a group of tourists from Beijing, China, sat on the ground, picnicking. Suddenly, a girl let out a piercing scream: "Look, the Water Monster!" Everyone turned back in shock, only to see a fierce Water Monster resembling a dark-furred brown bear crouched behind a rugged boulder by Heavenly Pool, its eyes staring intently at the nearby crowd. Startled by the scream, the monster sprang up in horror and, with a splash, jumped into the water. The normally tranquil Heavenly Pool suddenly rippled in a V-shape, and the Water Monster vanished in an instant. This was the Heavenly Pool Water Monster that had been rumored for so long, and it unexpectedly leaped from the water to the shore in broad daylight, with numerous eyewitnesses unanimously affirming this fact.

According to statistics, from 1962 to 1980, a total of more than 20 people had witnessed the Heavenly Pool Water Monster on 5 separate occasions. Their descriptions summarize that it had a head larger than a bull's, a protruding mouth, a long neck, and a bulky body (over 3 meters). On June 17, 1981, the Heavenly Pool once again revealed a strange animal. At 2:40 p.m., the director of the Hengshan outpost of Changbai Mountain Nature Reserve, Li Changyou, and four others were taking photographs on the mountain, when one of them suddenly pointed to a blue streak in Heavenly Pool and shouted, "Look, a white thing has come out." People looked in the direction and saw a white spot prominent against the blue lake. Through their telescopes, they were amazed to discover a Water Monster about 2 meters long, with a big round head like a leopard's. Aside from its forehead and crown being pure white, the rest of its visible body was egg-yolk colored. It had a slender body, and the part that floated above the water looked like a phoenix-tail fish dragging a tail behind, seemingly basking in the sun.
