```
Six-Headed Savage Python, a single serpent's body, six serpent heads.
A fully-grown Six-Headed Savage Python is four hundred meters in length, with each head measuring twenty meters. Every head varies slightly in size from the others, but the difference isn't significant. Each functions independently, akin to six siblings, all commanded by the Snake Heart. Under the Snake Heart's control, they collaborate in attack and defense, moving and acting as one. However, sometimes, one would slack off, like just now—five heads participated in the ambush on Wang Xiaoqiang, but the sixth head was lazy. Had it not slacked, Wang Xiaoqiang might not have been so lucky to jump down from the tree.
A Six-Level Demon Barbarian's strength parallels a Sixth Transformation of the Immortal cultivator, wielding formidable demonic power. Given the python's exceedingly enormous size, and its bizarre form, Wang Xiaoqiang felt a hint of intimidation while looking up at it. Still, amidst the trepidation, he didn't lose his composure, nor did he immediately flee the scene. Instead, he spread out his Spiritual Energy Protective Shield, then drew the Penglai Immortal Sword from his Sumeru Ring and held it in his right hand, ready and on guard.
Indeed, his actions were extremely wise. Had he fled alone, he wouldn't have gotten far before the Six-Headed Savage Python would have caught up with him and devoured him.
The Six-Headed Savage Python, after noticing its target had jumped down from the tree, did not immediately pursue him. Its six heads coiled around the treetop, hissing sharply as if the six snake siblings were whispering and discussing together...
A Six-Level Demon Beast is equivalent in strength to a Sixth Transformation of the Immortal—a formidable opponent Wang Xiaoqiang was not equipped to handle, despite possessing the Penglai Immortal Sword. Facing such an immense beast, Wang Xiaoqiang's heart was filled with apprehension.
Suddenly…
Whoosh…
A musty wind swept across, startling a flock of birds. Low-Level Demon Barbarians hidden throughout the forest roared, voices filled with trepidation as they scattered in all directions, followed by even more commotion in the woods.
Wang Xiaoqiang's heart trembled. He immediately dashed behind a massive ancient tree that would take ten men to encircle.
No sooner had he hidden himself than a massive tiger-like Demon Barbarian appeared majestically among the trees.
Shadow Flying Tiger?
Wang Xiaoqiang shrank behind the tree, rubbing his eyes before looking again to see the demon's body—ten times larger than a regular tiger, with distinct black and white stripes and large white wings on its back, though the wings were folded at the moment. Its body alternated between light and shadow,
in the light, it was a living, breathing Demon Beast,
in the shadow, only a dark outline was visible. Just then, the great demon passed by the tree where Wang Xiaoqiang was hiding, scrutinizing him with a narrowed gaze:
Yes, it's the Eighth-Level Demon Beast, the Shadow Flying Tiger!
As Wang Xiaoqiang confirmed the identity of the beast, the Shadow Flying Tiger, sensing the fluctuations of Spiritual Energy, discovered him behind the tree. It halted, raising its head, and roared softly at Wang Xiaoqiang from behind the tree, then, unexpectedly, turned its fierce gaze onto the Six-Headed Savage Python upon the tree, eyes seething with rage.
Wang Xiaoqiang released his Divine Sense and immediately realized that the Shadow Flying Tiger was carrying cubs in its belly.
The Six-Headed Savage Python did not possess the cunning of the Armored Rage Fox or the agility of the Two-Headed Arrow Leopard, and certainly, it lacked the warmth and Spiritual Wisdom of the Shadow Flying Tiger. This creature was from the more cold-blooded class of demon beasts, its ferocity rivaling the Heavenly Silkworm Frog and Blood-Eyed Crystal Frog.
Still, when faced with a Demon Beast far stronger than itself, it harbored a sense of awe and fear. Thus, upon spotting the intimidating Shadow Flying Tiger beneath the tree, it did not recklessly descend to fight the prey it was escaping from.
The Shadow Flying Tiger didn't immediately charge to battle the Six-Headed Savage Python because it was in a high-risk state of its own, and for the sake of its unborn young, it could only resort to this threatening stance.
The Six-Headed Savage Python didn't descend immediately largely because of the tiger's imposing presence. With its undeveloped Spiritual Wisdom, it couldn't discern that the Shadow Flying Tiger was pregnant; otherwise, it might have actually dared to descend and engage in battle.
Wang Xiaoqiang didn't let his emotions get the better of him. The size of the Six-Level Demon Beast's body was too large; if it were to coil around him, he couldn't imagine the force it could exert, with its road-like girth. And with those six heads, if they all attacked from the six directions—above, below, front, back, left, right—he wasn't sure there would be a seventh direction to escape to.
Moreover, he couldn't be certain that the pregnant Shadow Flying Tiger at his side would come to his aid if a fight broke out.
On the contrary, if the Shadow Flying Tiger and the Six-Headed Savage Python attacked him together, not even ten lives would suffice for him to survive the encounter.
So, he neither fled nor launched an offensive, but he also didn't let his presence diminish, seeing four of the six snake heads turn towards him, their green eyes emitting a savage glow. He waved the Penglai Immortal Sword in his hand, putting on a show of force.
The standoff lasted for a while, but eventually, it was the Six-Headed Savage Python that backed down. Its long body unwound from the tree and, once on the ground, all six heads lay low as they swiftly slithered away.
Seeing the Six-Headed Savage Python retreat, the Shadow Flying Tiger did not pursue.
Wang Xiaoqiang didn't pursue either. Man and beast, as if in perfect unspoken agreement.
The Shadow Flying Tiger turned its massive head and gave Wang Xiaoqiang a soft growl, void of any hostility. Then, the tiger lowered its head—as if nodding in acknowledgment.
```
Wang Xiaoqiang was baffled, with a look of utter confusion on his face.
Struck by a sudden idea, Wang Xiaoqiang took two wild fruits out of the Sumeru Ring. He tossed one to the Shadow Flying Tiger which opened its mouth and sucked in the fruit, chomping down heartily.
Wang Xiaoqiang also started nibbling on the other Red Fruit. While nibbling, he observed the Shadow Flying Tiger, and a novel and bold idea sprouted in his mind.
Seeing the Shadow Flying Tiger had finished the wild fruit, Wang Xiaoqiang promptly took out another two from the Storage Ring and threw them towards it.
When the Shadow Flying Tiger had swallowed six wild fruits, it let out a low cry towards Wang Xiaoqiang and walked slowly to a patch of short grass where it lay down.
Gazing at the huge Demon Tiger in the moonlight, Wang Xiaoqiang was torn. He didn't know whether he should stay or leave.
Before, he had fed the tiger wild fruits. For some reason, the Demon Tiger appeared during his moments of danger and alerted him with a loud cry when he was under attack by the Six-Headed Savage Python. The Shadow Flying Tiger then used its imposing presence to keep the Six-Headed Savage Python at bay. Afterward, he gave it more wild fruits. Although the tiger bore no malice towards him, it was, after all, a Barbaric Demon!
While Wang Xiaoqiang was in the throes of indecision, the Shadow Flying Tiger let out another roar at him. It lowered its head slightly, as if beckoning Wang Xiaoqiang to come over.
Wang Xiaoqiang steeled his heart and walked over.
He sat down next to the body of the Shadow Flying Tiger, staring intently at it while remaining on guard.
At this moment, the Shadow Flying Tiger closed its eyes, seemingly about to sleep.
Seeing this, Wang Xiaoqiang relaxed a bit more.
The bold idea that had emerged in his mind was to sit by the side of the Shadow Flying Tiger, not to sleep, but to cultivate.
If he wanted to sleep, he could easily release all the Spiritual Spring in his body and sleep on top of a tree, avoiding the eyes of most Barbaric Demons.
But cultivation was different. The intense fluctuations of Spiritual Energy would attract Demon Beasts from miles around, which could be even more dangerous than sleeping in a tree.
Cultivating by the side of the Shadow Flying Tiger, taking advantage of its presence, he wouldn't have to worry about sudden attacks from other Barbaric Demons. However, during cultivation, he dared not guarantee that the Demon Tiger wouldn't harm him.
Even amongst brothers, there's a lack of trust and covert competition, let alone between a human and a Demon Beast. Even though the Shadow Flying Tiger had saved him, he couldn't let his guard down.
After much contemplation, he still couldn't come to a decision. Eventually, he gave up on the idea. Seeing that the Shadow Flying Tiger had begun to snore, he decisively walked to the nearest large tree, climbed up, sat on a horizontal branch, and began to cultivate.
He cultivated until the early morning hours before finally falling asleep on the tree.
With the Shadow Flying Tiger keeping guard, the night passed without incident.
The next morning, Wang Xiaoqiang awoke, jumped down from the tree, and saw the Shadow Flying Tiger still asleep in the grass beneath the tree. Wang Xiaoqiang took out six wild fruits and tossed them beside it. The tiger awoke with a start but, seeing Wang Xiaoqiang standing by, it calmed its surprise and anger, picked up a Red Fruit from the ground, and began to eat. Wang Xiaoqiang also swallowed two fruits before setting off to hunt and collect demon crystals.
In the evening, Wang Xiaoqiang returned to the forest and saw the Shadow Flying Tiger was still there. He took a plump Tri-horned Sheep out of the Sumeru Ring and tossed it to the Shadow Flying Tiger.
The Shadow Flying Tiger seemed very excited, it let out another low cry towards Wang Xiaoqiang, lowered its head, then promptly began gnawing on the Tri-horned Sheep.
Wang Xiaoqiang took out ten Leafless Fruits from the Storage Ring, threw six to the Shadow Flying Tiger, and kept four for himself.
The Tri-horned Sheep was something he had nabbed while hunting a Two-Headed Arrow Leopard, and the ten Leafless Fruits were picked up by chance. He put them all into his Storage Ring to bring back.
And so it went, man and tiger kept each other company, both seeking a living.
During the day, the increasingly corpulent Shadow Flying Tiger rested in the forest while Wang Xiaoqiang went around hunting demons and gathering their cores, occasionally bringing back some prey and wild fruits for the Shadow Flying Tiger.
At night, Wang Xiaoqiang cultivated in the tree while the Shadow Flying Tiger kept watch below. No danger presented itself.
Indeed, it was a case of a man using a tiger's might, and a tiger borrowing a man's efforts. (To be continued.
