BEYOND THE BLAZE

Chapter 108: 108

The test continued; Akirion got out of the blaze and went back to the others. The guards and others clapped their hands, but their happiness wasn't there. They were all astonished and stressed out.

Akirion's group clapped their hands with a glow of smiles on their faces as they showed true happiness beyond their grin.

Elina ran to him and held his hand; a bit of a smile curled his lips, but he was mostly annoyed by the way that pyropuppet exploded since he wasn't expecting it to do that and show a lot of power. He only wanted it to fall down; then he would be a winner, but without any control, he lost what he planned.

The other two girls spoke first before Elina did, as they said:

"Congratulations, Akirion!" Emma and Emily spoke at the same time.

Elina added, "Congrats, Akie." They all congratulated him, their faces and eyes showing happiness.

Akirion stood with them, waiting to hear from the examiner.

A woman, wearing a guard uniform, with brown hair, went towards Akirion; her shoes thudded on the ground, echoing around the hall.

"Congratulations, Mr…. Sir, Akirion." She said, her eyes glaring at Akirion.

"No, you aren't supposed to call me that, Madam. You can call me Akirion only; that's enough for me." Akirion said, disagreeing with "Mister" or "Sir."

She responded with a smile as she got relieved since she didn't know what to use, either Mister or Sir. "Oh, okay, thanks for attending this exam, and you have shown your skills; thanks for that. And congratulations for winning the test."

"Thanks, madam!"

"You are welcome."

The nice lady had a name tag on her shirt, on the left side, on top of the shirt pocket. The name was unclear since it was written in numbers instead of words. Akirion was curious to see her name.

So he glared straight at the left side of her chest as he tried to understand what was written, but he was only embarrassing himself and the nice lady who was carrying a book and pen, taking notes of Akirion and his group as they took the test.

"Hey Akirion, what are you staring at? Elina whispered as she realized that Akirion was glaring exactly at the woman's chest.

"Huh, nothing really!" he replied but kept on glaring at her chest.

The woman looked at his eyes and observed that he was looking at her chest. She got shy; her face turned red a bit as she thought that he was glaring at her medium-sized boobs.

She held the book with both of her hands and slowly closed her chest as she got a bit shy and embarrassed.

Elina hit Akirion's thigh with her fist as she tried to get him to realize his mistake of staring, but Akirion only rubbed where it hurt and continued glaring.

Suddenly, a soft, cute voice echoed behind a book, "Sir, you, you are glaring at me too much!" The nice lady said from behind a book, her face as red as she blushed a bit.

"Oh, sorry, sorry, I didn't mean to stare. I, I…" Akirion apologized, but Elina got in.

"What, glaring at a woman's chest? Don't you think it's disrespectful?" Elina asked with an angry face.

"Ahh, sorry, I'm really sorry, madam. I was only looking at your name tag; it's unclear. I only see digits instead of words."

"Ohh, that's my work name; it's 02. It's not understandable, right?" She smiled; her eyes got back to normal since she understood that she was only overthinking.

Akirion responded, his eyes shining with innocence as he glared at the lady, "Since you've said it, I guess it's clear enough, and I guess my ears heard something like that before."

"Yes, maybe; we all call each other with numbers, not our real names."

"That's good."

'Mhh, so I was shy for nothing; he had no bad intentions.' she thought, her eyes glaring at Akirion's face.

"Okay, Elina, you are up next; the wind pyropuppet is ready." she loudly said to Elina.

Elina replied, "Ohh, okay, I'm on it."

Elina headed to the wide space, her eyes narrowed, glaring at the pyropuppet that was far away, like 50 meters away.

"You've got this, Elina!"

They all repeated the same line as they helped Elina emotionally as she felt that she had support.

'Wait, isn't she supposed to get rules? Who knows, maybe fire magic powers are the only ones that have got rules and stuff.' Akirion thought as he opened his ears to hear the rules.

Elina reached her line and had a minute before starting.

She then received a start notice. She took a deep breath and created a gust of wind to blow away the pyropuppet.

Embarrassingly, the pyropuppet slowly shook, and it didn't get any power from falling.

Suddenly, she initiated another attack, her eyes glaring exactly at the doll.

She created two vacuum blades that shot the pyropuppet down. She turned around in victory and went to her friends.

She got the congratulations, and then she waited for the next exam taker.

Emily was called next as a water user.

She headed to her space and dealt with her doll; she completely washed it away and got over with it.

She got back and received her congratulations; her eyes shone with the happiness of victory. She was only waiting for Emma to deal with hers, and the test was going to be over.

Emma stepped forward and charged towards her pyropuppet and got over it within time.

She used green plants to bind it up, and then she pulled it apart and finally destroyed it.

The pyropuppets were simple dolls that were weirdly created, with a different creation for every doll. It was more like a scarecrow but different since it had something inside, so it was mostly different.

They were also different in magic types. There was one for fire, water, wind, earth, and nature. Thunder was rare, so they didn't have one, so they only concentrated on the popular ones.

"Okay everyone, it's time to receive your pass and rank cards." 02 said.

Akirion and his group were very happy; their eyes shone with happiness as they got ready to receive their cards.

Their cards were proof of contract signing in order to be able to register their names inside to start their jobs, and they were also given the rank cards.

The other guard came with the guards with her hands, and before she said a word, 02 called Akirion.

"Hey, Akirion. You didn't finish your test; you said that you are a sword user too, isn't that right?"

Akirion replied with happiness, "Oh yeah, I am!"

She continued, "Good, do you see that space at the end?" She said as she pointed at the corner of the hall.

Akirion glared at the corner and headed there without a second thought; within minutes he was there, his right hand went to his back, and he grabbed the sword that was behind him.

He took out his expensive sword out of his scabbard and pointed at the pyropuppet. He only took a deep breath, and silently, he charged at the pyropuppet and got it in pieces.

Everyone gasped as they saw Akirion swiftly finishing the doll as if it was nothing.

They all had their right hands on their mouths as they all observed Akirion, who got out with his face filled with rage.

They congratulated Akirion, and then the other lady started to give out the cards, both contract and rank.

The ranking cards were for tracking what the team was like. If the team was strong, it had many opportunities to get called for many missions, like the rescue mission or the attack that happened in the city, and that had money too. It's more like another rescue mission, to rescue the citizens who got attacked.

And as for the leader, the leader had to be more experienced than the others.

They were seven ranks.

E rank—the beginner, lacking combat skills, and mostly it was mostly for punch fighters who lacked skills.

D rank—mostly newbies of magic got this rank, and also swordsmen too.

C rank—mostly for the newbie leaders.

B rank—it's mostly for those who quickly leveled up but are still a newbie.

A rank—going straight to the experienced.

R rank—strong and experienced

S rank—mostly experienced.

So Akirion and his groups received one of these ranks.

"Hey Akirion, you've got yourself a newbie leader rank, the C rank," the lady who was giving out the rank said.

The others congratulated Akirion, "Wow, congratulations, Akirion!"

He replied, his face filled with a smile, "Thanks."

"Good luck becoming a leader on your first day!" 02 said.

"Oh, thank you!"

"Elina, you got a D rank, and to be precise, not wasting time, all of you received the D rank." The lady continued to call out the names.

The girls got happy for becoming second in the list.

02 added, "Note that you will level up your rank as long as you keep killing monsters and saving the city."

"Ohh, okay," they all responded.

"So, now, it's time to register your names inside!"
