The red Audi parked in the parking lot of Shengshi Hotel. Lin Feng and Cao Ying exited the vehicle, instantly drawing the attention of many onlookers.
"He's handsome and she's beautiful. They're like a golden couple, a match made in heaven," some murmured quietly.
Noticing the glances cast their way, both Cao Ying and Lin Feng offered faint smiles.
"Teacher Cao, isn't this the moment you're supposed to take my arm so we can walk the red carpet together?" Lin Feng whispered.
"Drop dead!" Cao Ying softly rebuked him, then reached out and harshly pinched his waist.
"OUCH..." Lin Feng yelped quietly. With people watching, he maintained his composure, continuing to walk beside Cao Ying toward the hotel's entrance. However, he couldn't help but grumble, "Are you a snake in disguise? You pinch so hard!"
"That's what you get for taking advantage of me!" Cao Ying retorted stubbornly.
...
"Miss Cao, your private room is ready. Please follow me."
At the entrance of Shengshi Hotel, a tall, attractive waitress in a red cheongsam saw Cao Ying and quickly greeted her with a smile, welcoming both her and Lin Feng inside.
Wow, even the waitresses know her. Could she be the owner's daughter? Lin Feng wondered.
The elevator stopped on the seventh floor. The pretty waitress led the way, with Lin Feng and Cao Ying leisurely following.
Lin Feng noticed the waitress's graceful figure and curvaceous behind, unable to resist a second glance.
Noticing this, Cao Ying silently cursed, "Pervert!"
Lin Feng chuckled and asked, "Aw, are you jealous?"
Cao Ying shot Lin Feng a glare and retorted, "Who would be jealous of you? Hmph, so full of yourself."
"Miss Cao, here is your seat."
Unexpectedly, Cao Ying hadn't booked a private room but rather a quiet spot by a window on the seventh floor. Unlike the bustling lobbies on the second and third floors, this area was more elegant and tranquil. Its setup was more akin to a European-style restaurant.
After Cao Ying and Lin Feng were seated, Cao Ying gestured for Lin Feng to order. However, he responded, "It seems like you're a regular here. You order."
Cao Ying simply smiled, not refusing but not saying much either, directly telling the waitress, "The usual."
The waitress returned the smile. "Absolutely. Please wait a moment, Miss Cao," she said before turning and leaving with a sway of her hips.
Lin Feng stared blankly for a moment, realizing he had underestimated Cao Ying. Her air of familiarity with Shengshi Hotel was undeniable.
"Why didn't you book a private room?" Lin Feng asked.
"Isn't this place great? We can overlook the busiest section of Jiangzhou. Plus, not just anyone can enter this VIP hall; you need a Shengshi Hotel VIP card. I like sitting here because I can see Huangpu Park."
As Cao Ying spoke, she glanced out the glass window, adding, "And we can see Jiangzhou University too. Isn't it lovely?"
"Do you come here often?" Lin Feng asked again.
"Not really. I used to come here a few times with my father. Hey, we're here to eat. Why are you asking so many questions?" Cao Ying suddenly retorted, looking pointedly at Lin Feng.
This girl is pretty good at keeping her family situation secret, and she's quite alert, Lin Feng thought, pursing his lips. But from what she just said, her dad must be quite somebody.
The VIP hall was sparsely filled, with just a few scattered tables occupied, making it rather peaceful. At the table next to Lin Feng and Cao Ying sat two men in their twenties, dressed in trendy, flashy clothes. One of them, a man in a floral shirt with shifty eyes, kept glancing at Cao Ying.
Shortly after, their food arrived. Cao Ying preferred light dishes like stir-fried potato strips, boiled fish, and stir-fried pork with black fungus—common dishes found in most Chinese restaurants. However, once Lin Feng tasted them, he had to applaud the chef. The flavors achieved by the Shengshi Hotel's chef were incomparable. This clearly showed why even a simple plate of stir-fried potato strips could sell for 38 yuan.
"Do you want alcohol or a soft drink?" Cao Ying asked. "I suggest a soft drink—students should refrain from drinking alcohol."
"Not even red wine? I was hoping to try Lafite," Lin Feng replied.
"It's not that I won't let you, but let's wait until after your university entrance exam. If you do well, I'll treat you to Lafite—any wine the hotel offers," Cao Ying said gently, looking at Lin Feng.
"Why can't I? Afraid I'll misbehave if I'm drunk?" Lin Feng chuckled.
"Misbehave your head!" Cao Ying retorted. "Can't you have a decent thought for once? Alcohol can numb the nerves and is bad for memory and learning ability. I'm saying this for your own good."
"Alright, I'll have a soft drink—fresh orange juice."
Watching Cao Ying's serious expression, Lin Feng didn't argue. He muttered quietly, Keeping such a tight leash on me... is she my Mom or my wife?
"What did you say?" Surprisingly, Cao Ying's hearing was sharp enough to catch his quiet muttering. She blushed and looked annoyed.
"I said you're like my Mom." Lin Feng chuckled, only saying the first half of his sentence.
"Such a smooth talker..." Cao Ying shook her head helplessly.
"Excuse me, Miss, would you mind if we joined you for dinner? This meal's on me."
As they were talking, the two men from the neighboring table walked over. The man in the blue T-shirt spoke to Cao Ying with a grin.
Lin Feng was rather annoyed as the two strangers approached and started hitting on Cao Ying. Damn it, can't they see I'm on a date with her? How dare they try to pick her up right in front of me!
However, Lin Feng didn't immediately intervene. Instead, he calmly observed Cao Ying's reaction. She must have encountered many men trying to hit on her; I wonder how she deals with these lechers?
A flicker of disgust crossed Cao Ying's face; she was clearly displeased by the men's abruptness. After a moment's hesitation, she replied, "I appreciate the offer, but I'm quite capable of paying for my own meal here. There's no need for you to treat me, thank you."
Her reply was so crisp and perfectly polite. Truly befitting a highly educated woman, Lin Feng thought, thoroughly impressed. Any guy who marries her would really luck out. She's presentable in public and capable in private... I just wonder if she can warm the bed too?
"Hey, Miss, we mean no harm. My name is Zhao Liang, and this is my cousin, Ma Enhua. My cousin would like to get to know you, maybe become friends so we can all hang out more often. Heh heh."
As Zhao Liang spoke, he and Ma Enhua pulled up chairs and sat down beside them, acting as if they owned the place and completely ignoring Lin Feng.
Ma Enhua, who had just sat down, immediately stood up again. "Miss, hello. I was wondering if I could get your number so we could hang out sometime when you're free?" he asked, his intentions perfectly clear.
