Chapter 23 The Giant Wild Boar

But who would have predicted that, when faced with the glaring stare of the tiger, the wild boar not only showed no hint of fear but instead stood its ground, strutting provocatively, eyes wide open in a direct confrontation with the South China Tiger.

Such a scene left Ling Zhenfei dumbfounded.

The distance between the wild boar and the South China Tiger was only two or three meters, but Ling Zhenfei could distinctly feel an intense aura of battle.

He knew that a struggle between titans was about to erupt between these two fierce beasts…

Under the tree, the wild boar and the South China Tiger were engaged in a tense standoff.

Huff! Huff!

The wild boar's eyes stared ferociously at the South China Tiger, with a heavy breathing, like a barrage of thunderous mountains, and sharp tusks aimed like knives at the tiger.

The boar's demeanor was incredibly fierce, especially that malevolent gaze which resembled a berserker, ready at any moment to shred its challenger to pieces.

Although the body of the South China Tiger was much more robust than that of the wild boar, it seemed to lose its momentum under the fearless boar's glare and even appeared to shrink back, hesitant to attack.

Roar!

As with the battle between armies, so too is the fight between wild beasts a matter of morale.

At this moment, the wild boar's momentum was at its peak, sharp as a blade; suddenly, it bared its teeth in a piercing roar, its body swelling suddenly, ready to strike.

Thump!

The South China Tiger was clearly taken aback by the boar's overwhelming presence, retreating a few steps and, astonishingly, turning tail and running.

Witnessing this from his hiding place in the tree, Ling Zhenfei was rendered speechless.

He had anticipated a fierce fight between the wild boar and the South China Tiger, hoping to gain from their mutually inflicted wounds while they were both injured.

Yet he hadn't expected that the South China Tiger, king among beasts, would turn out to be so craven, so thoroughly intimidated by a wild boar that it fled!

Huff! Huff! Roar…

After driving away the South China Tiger, the wild boar let out several triumphant roars, seemingly celebrating its victory.

Ling Zhenfei knew that after its howling performance, the boar was likely to remember the two ducks above the trap.

Next, it would be his turn to deal with this gluttonous creature!

Huff! Huff!

Sure enough, no sooner had Ling Zhenfei's thought settled, than he saw the boar cease its howls, its bloodshot eyes focusing, hooves ready as it pounced toward the bait above the trap.

The wild boar might have been ferocious, but its intelligence was not something to be admired.

At that moment, it only had eyes for the two delectable live ducks, never considering that going after them could cost it its life.

Splash!

Before the wild boar's snout could touch the two ducks, its hooves found emptiness, and its bulky body plunged into the pit.

Although the trap wasn't very deep, Ling Zhenfei had placed several sharp spikes at the bottom. As soon as the boar fell in, the spikes pierced its hooves, causing it to let out a frenzied howl of pain.

Whoosh!

Ling Zhenfei had been prepared; seeing the wild boar wounded, he immediately leaped down from the tree, with a sharp stake in hand like a Long Spear, aiming precisely for the boar's heart.

Despite being impaled, the wild boar's thick hide and musculature prevented the spike from penetrating its heart; the muscles tensed and trapped the stake within, leaving it unable to pierce through.

Roar…

The wild boar, seriously injured but not yet dead, had its ferocity fully provoked, bellowing like thunder, desperately struggling.

The brute strength of the creature was immense; just one ordinary person, or even three strong men, would likely struggle to subdue this wounded beast.

However, after inheriting the legacy of the Medical God, Ling Zhenfei's physical condition had become exceptionally strong. Dealing with such a fierce beast was naturally not a problem for him.

A fierce shout came from his throat as he quickly channeled his Inner Strength between his arms and thrust the Long Spear forward with great force.

Thump!

Under the force of the sharp spike, it swiftly pierced through the wild boar's tough hide and flesh, chilling its heart with a thorough penetration.

Woah...

The wild boar let out a pitiful wail, struggling in agony as it drew its last breaths. Finally, it collapsed on the ground, dead.

"You brute of a beast, you're truly not easy to deal with!"

Seeing that the wild boar was finally motionless, Ling Zhenfei put down the spike and dragged the boar's corpse out of the trap with a rope.

The boar weighed around two to three hundred pounds. It was fortunate that Ling Zhenfei was exceptionally strong, plus he had borrowed a dilapidated tricycle from Li Ermeng in the village before coming here.

Otherwise, transporting such a massive creature down the mountain would have been simply impossible.

Ling Zhenfei exerted a lot of effort lifting the boar onto the cart, preparing to leave the mountain. Just then, his eardrums trembled as he heard the sound of car wheels grinding against the ground from the small mountain path.

Could it be... was there a car coming up the mountain?

With this thought, a wave of suspicion couldn't help but rise in Ling Zhenfei's heart.

The mountain road was rugged, and although it was passable for vehicles, this place was a deep forest rarely visited by humans throughout the year. It wasn't just cars; even the villagers' ox carts from the foothills wouldn't travel this way!

When something is out of the ordinary, there must be demons at play. As the sound of the wheels drew nearer, Ling Zhenfei felt something was off, quickly hiding the tricycle loaded with the wild boar and climbing up a lush tree.

Hiding among the dense branches, Ling Zhenfei looked towards the source of the sound, using his Perspective Divine Eye.

He saw an off-road vehicle heading his way, driving through the forest.

The off-road vehicle continued until it reached the outskirts of the woods, where there was no path left, and stopped.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The car doors opened, and out jumped a stout, surly-looking man, followed by two lackeys.

The brawny man had a cigar clenched in his mouth. As soon as he got out of the car, he took several puffs of smoke before waving his hand fiercely at his subordinates.

His underlings understood, opened the trunk, and dragged a middle-aged man out.

What's going on here?

Although Ling Zhenfei knew that these people entering the forest couldn't be up to any good, witnessing this scene suddenly still shocked and confused him.

While he was puzzled, he saw the burly man and his lackeys dragging the person into the forest, coincidentally just below the tree Ling Zhenfei had climbed.

The man had been unconscious all along, clearly having been drugged and kidnapped into the mountains by these goons.

"Wake him up!"

The brawny man flicked the cigar ash and gestured with a wave of his hand, immediately prompting one of his men, who understood, to grab a bucket of cold water and pour it over the man on the ground.

The man on the ground looked to be about fifty years old and was dressed respectably. It wasn't hard to see that if he wasn't a wealthy businessman, he was certainly someone from the upper echelons of society.

"Where am I? Who are you? Why have you brought me here?"

The middle-aged man was jolted awake by the cold water, and as he lifted his eyes to see the fearsome-faced burly man and his henchmen, he appeared utterly terrified.

"Lin Zhengnan, President Lin, heh heh, take a look, the feng shui treasure land I've chosen for you isn't bad, right?"

The burly man smoked with complacency, moving forward with a sly grin, and as he pointed to the quiet surrounding jungle, he laughed sinisterly, "Look, green mountains and clear waters, so tranquil. If you die here, we bury you beneath the soil, and I guarantee that even after a few hundred years, no one will be able to find you. Hahaha..."
