F-Rank Puppeteer!! But I’ll be Queen, and I’m not a narcissist!!!!!

Chapter 143: Different Types of Naivety

A few minutes later, Esther returns to the living room. Although Faye isn't with her, I can sense Faye's presence in the mansion, and apparently, she's in the dining room.

"Evelyn, that girl is currently having a snack to give us some space," Esther says as she approaches me. I'm sitting on the sofa in the room, watching her with a slight smile.

"You said you wanted to talk to me about something?!" I ask, trying to stay calm. Esther sits in a nearby chair and crosses her legs.

'...' I briefly stare at her lovely legs before returning my gaze to her eyes.

"It's about your use of magic; it's quite poor. So, I want to know, would you like me to personally teach you about magic usage in addition to your regular classes?" Her question surprises me.

"Why... would you help me with this..."

"...Because we are married..." She says it in a way that doesn't sound entirely honest, as if it were a lie, but it also isn't a complete lie because if it were, I wouldn't have even noticed.

'She... wants to get closer!!?' I smile, thinking this is her way of wanting to be nearer to me. Of course, I haven't forgotten how she humiliated me before the marriage, but I can easily forgive that for now.

"I want to! I'd also like help practicing relic creation!" I've always had some problems with the magic part; magic didn't exist in my original world.

So, all the magic I use now is purely the body's reflex and instinct. I myself barely know what I'm doing when I use magic; it just comes out naturally.

"That's good. I'll have plenty of free time for the next few months thanks to the marriage. And if I don't take any more missions from the Demon King, I can help you... why are you looking at me like that?" she asks, confused.

"Hehehe, it's nothing," I say, seeing that she's implying she'll stop what she's doing just to give me attention.

'I hope... this isn't all fake...' I don't know if I should trust her too much, but it seems pretty genuine to me.

"..." Esther stands up from the chair for a moment.

"I have to go. Since I'll be spending more time with you, I need to finish all my errands first. We can start your lessons, practice, and studies a week from now... until then, behave yourself." She leaves the room, the sound of her footsteps echoing softly.

"..." I just wait, confused by her sudden departure. About 20 minutes later, Faye arrives in the room, and I understand that Esther isn't coming back.

"Hi, Lyn!" Faye says, and I see Syl'Vyr and even Eve behind her.

"You made a new, really cute friend, Evelyn-chan!" Syl'Vyr says as she enters. Eve looks somewhat tired but has a calm smile on her face.

"Evelyn-sama, congratulations on your new creation. She seems to have quite a lot of... capability. She used a buff on me while we were coming here, and I feel much better," Eve says as the three of them approach.

"Isn't that amazing!? You have to see Faye's status; it's really good! She has abilities between the Fourth and Fifth Tiers! She's definitely a Rank S healer," I say excitedly to them.

"Yes, with the three of us, the party is quite well-balanced," Eve says, nodding. I nod my head in agreement.

"Did you gain extra memories?" I ask, noticing that the two of them are acting as if Faye has always existed, even though Faye was created less than 40 minutes ago.

"Yes, we know Faye, and she seems to know us too, Evelyn-chan! Besides, she's really sweet! Like a little stuffed cupcake," Syl'Vyr says with a silly smile on her face, while Faye looks at her with an enchanted expression.

'I already saw that Eve changed her behavior when Syl'Vyr was created, and now that Faye is born, both of them changed... could it be that the more puppets there are, the more extra memories they gain?' I think about this briefly while watching the three of them interact.

'Eve also doesn't seem angry about Faye calling me just 'Lyn'... why?' It's a bit strange. I don't really understand my own powers well; I have no idea how my magic works in this regard.

"So, Evelyn-chan, what was that about?" Syl'Vyr suddenly includes me, catching my attention, while Eve and Faye look at me.

"What are you talking about?"

"That! That! That woman threatened me! For real! It wasn't just an empty threat! I know how to recognize murderous intent when it's so blatantly directed at me!!"

"And we weren't even doing anything serious! You know how playful I am! Putting my hand on your chest was just meant to be a joke; it's not exactly normal for someone to threaten to kill another person over that!" Syl'Vyr speaks seriously while Faye and Eve look confused.

"She did what?" Eve asks, now alert.

"H-Hey, calm down, that was... well..." There's no way to defend this. Esther herself admitted she overreacted and apologized, but the threat still happened, though I assume it was out of jealousy.

"Eve, what happened is simple! Evelyn-chan was nervous, so I thought I'd play a joke to calm her down, but Esther came in right then and saw, and her first reaction was to literally threaten to squeeze my head until it exploded!!"

"And it wasn't a joke or just a simple threat; it was for real! I got goosebumps all over! My tail twitched and my ears drooped in discomfort! I didn't even want to stay in the room after that threat!" Syl'Vyr speaks, making it sound really awful.

"...Evelyn-sama, did she hurt you? Did she threaten you?" Eve quickly asks, worried.

"Lyn, Lyn is hurt? Need healing!?" Faye also gets nervous, though she doesn't really understand the current topic, probably because she knows nothing about Esther, and she offers to heal me.

"Guys, it was nothing! She didn't do anything! She even apologized while I was giving her a kiss! It's just that the nobility's rules are very strict, and she lost her cool a little, but she apologized!" When I say she apologized, Faye seems calmer.

However, Eve and Syl'Vyr look at each other as if they've heard something absolutely unbelievable and incomprehensible.

Meanwhile, I feel embarrassed, but I admit I gave her a kiss; I thought that if I did something "wrong" and offered a kiss, maybe her anger would subside.

"..."

"She... was just jealous. I think she isn't good at expressing her feelings, so can we please just drop this?! I want to talk about something else! Like our battle formation!"

"Now that you three are here, we can make a really good and efficient formation, and..." I start to steer the subject towards something more important; the three of them need to start training together so there's no confusion during a fight.

"So, you like toys too, Grace?" Augustus asks me while I sip a cup of hot chocolate. I came along with him on the mission he received from the Demon King.

The reason I came is because almost all the candidates for the throne were going off to do something, and I didn't want to stay in the castle, so I decided to follow one of them to help and ended up choosing Augustus, who's a cute boy.

"Of course I do! It's a lot of fun! In the human kingdom, we have lots of toys, sports, and tools for entertainment!" I tell Augustus with a smile, and he opens up to me a little more.

I had to be very insistent to get him to start talking to me and be a little less wary.

"That is... pretty cool... your kingdom seems great," he says, not even imagining that it isn't that great. The human kingdom really does have many fun and fascinating things to do.

But the nobles are pretty dirty; wars among themselves are frequent, the power struggle is unpleasant, and the treatment between commoners and nobles is extremely discriminatory.

Obviously, the demons have their own problems that I can easily see, so I guess no one is perfect, and all I can do is try to see the positive points and talk about the positive points of my kingdom.

Of course, I won't talk about the bad points; it doesn't make sense to say what's bad about the human kingdom like this.

"Maybe one day we can go somewhere together if you want to visit the human kingdom, you know, once everything works out between demons and humans," I say, confident that I can show him the best places.

"...Hmmm... maybe... but it's complicated, isn't it? Demons and Humans aren't very close; wouldn't there be problems?" he asks curiously while I shake my head.

"Of course not! As long as you're with me, everything would be fine! Besides, maybe peace will really happen! I'm learning a lot about you demons, and you're also being very receptive."

"And even the Demon King is being better than I thought he would be! Maybe in about 3 to 5 years, we can establish peace treaties and start thinking about cultural exchange or something like that," I start talking about my dreams of peace between the races.

"You are... overly confident. You know my father is only accepting you here because he wants to use human resources for the war, right? Why would you make your people join with another people just to fight someone else?" He asks an excessively honest question.

"Hmmm, it's because I believe I can fix that! I'm not here to help the Demon King get more resources for a war; I'm here to improve the lives of people in need!"

"Once all of this works out between humans and demons, I'll try to get humans, demons, and beastmen to live in peace too!! And then the angels as well!" I say audaciously.

"...Sounds nice to be like that..." Augustus says only that and falls completely silent and closed off again. I just sigh, realizing he won't talk anymore for today.
