The Smiling Death

Chapter 171: Easy Kills (1)

Few minutes before Adelia came.

BOOM!

An explosion erupted exactly where Amon and the others had been standing, but they all managed to dodge in time. A few nearby students, however, suffered minor wounds from the blast.

The passenger cabin was far too small for all of them to fight freely. Two hundred seats packed together, all filled with students.

The space was cramped, dangerous, and any reckless attack could kill the wrong person.

Two hooded men lunged at Seraphina with inhuman speed, daggers gleaming in their hands.

Seraphina did not remain still. She stood in the narrow aisle between two rows of seats, Amon positioned just beside her, while the others formed a protective line behind.

Her sword moved swiftly—sharp, decisive.

Amon summoned his hatchet. His left hand extended forward, catching the incoming dagger strike head-on.

CLING! CLING!

Sparks scattered across the tight cabin. Students screamed and scrambled away between the seats.

Amon gritted his teeth, muscles straining as he tried his best to hold back the hooded man's dagger with his bare left hand, shadow-coated mana hardening his palm. The hooded attacker pushed him down with overwhelming weight, but Amon twisted his body sideways, swinging his hatchet upward toward the man's ribs.

The enemy blocked it with lightning-fast reflexes.

CLANG!

Amon felt the vibration rattle up his arm.

The attacker's strength was terrifying, stronger than any student-level opponent. But not enough to overwhelm Amon. He stepped back, barely avoiding a slash aimed at his throat.

His eyes sharpened, shadows gathering at his fingertips as he attempted to cast Shadow Clutch, but the narrow cabin and chaotic movement made it harder to aim without hurting students.

Still, he didn't retreat.

He ducked under another slicing strike, swept his leg forward, and kicked the masked man against a chair frame, cracking it. But the man bounced back instantly with unnerving agility.

A different cluster of enemies moved at the same time.

Matthew, who was closest to them, pulled out his spear. It was covered in smoky darkness. He intercepted one of the attacking enemies, thrusting his spear with enough force to kill in a single blow.

But five other hooded figures slipped past them, heading straight toward Seraphina.

Her friends didn't hesitate.

Marcus, Eliana, and Aisha moved instantly to intercept.

Eliana pulled back her bowstring. Mana swirling around the arrow. Before firing it between the seats.

The arrow tore through the airship's cabin like a streak of blue light.

But the five enemies dodged easily with nimble, almost beast-like movements.

CLING! CLING! BOOM!

The cramped space erupted into chaos.

Spells from the enemies flew wildly, injuring students and sending them screaming in fear. Weapons clashed—steel against steel. Sparks burst across the room

.

Amid the chaos, Seraphina noticed something. Every attack. Every spell—every movement from the masked men was fixated on her.

Her golden eyes narrowed in realization.

At the back of the cabin, Arnold stood calmly, analyzing everything. His gaze moved briefly to Amon. Who was still clashing violently with the hooded attacker.

Before shifting to Seraphina, only a short distance away.

Then he shouted, voice echoing across the cabin:

"Seraphina! They are targeting you. Let's go outside!"

Despite being locked in combat, Seraphina heard him clearly. She struck the masked man backward with a mana-enhanced push, then spun on her feet.

Mana surged into her legs.

In a flash, she appeared beside Arnold.

Arnold raised his sword—its blade glowing with a sleek silver light.

Seraphina tightened her grip, her golden blade burning with pure heat.

Students nearby screamed and scrambled, terrified by the power gathering in their weapons.

Both of them swung their swords toward the metal wall.

BOOOOM!!

Their combined strike exploded outward, blasting the wall open. Metal shards flew through the air.

The masked figures, seeing both of them escape outside, immediately abandoned the others and lunged after them.

The dagger-wielding man who had been fighting Amon suddenly shifted his attention. With a violent shove, he pushed Amon aside and sprinted after Seraphina and Arnold.

Amon stumbled back, catching himself on a broken seat frame.

"Damn it—!" he hissed, immediately pushing forward again.

Meanwhile, two masked attackers still remained inside the cabin. One clashing fiercely with Matthew, and the other engaging another student named Caelin.

The battle in the cramped cabin raged on.

Eliana got closer to Amon. "Are you okay?" she asked in a worried tone.

"Yeah, I am." Amon stood beside her, exhaling slowly.

"Tch! They ran after Seraphina." Aisha grumbled from behind.

Marcus clenched his spear in his hand. There was anger in his purple eyes. "Let's go after them. We need to help."

"Yeah, I agree. Let's fucking kill—" Before Amon could complete his sentence

BOOM!

Another explosion shook the airship. This time it didn't hit the ship, but purple light came inside through the windows.

Multiple explosions could be heard from outside.

"Damn! Professors are fighting some enemy as well. He looks too strong," Aisha said, watching outside the window. A battle between one man and four professors. But somehow, the side with more numbers looked at a disadvantage.

'Fuck! We need to go outside. Where Arnold and Seraphina were going.'

Then a sudden thought came. "Hey, where are the other staff members? Are they safe?" he asked the others.

Marcus gazed forward. Matthew, Caelin, and his friends were taking care of the two enemies better.

Marcus grimaced. "Can you not hear it? The sound of battle coming from the other cabin. It seems even staff members are getting attacked. But we don't need to worry about them. They can protect themselves. For now, let's go."

All of them agreed. They moved toward the huge path created by Arnold and Seraphina.

Amon jumped from the hole, others following behind.

They stepped outside. In front of them was a green forest.

The sound of steel—battle—could be heard. Amon held his sword in his right hand and the hatchet in his left. He kicked off the ground as he dashed toward the sound.

Stomp! Stomp! Stomp!

Their footsteps echoed through the forest.

There they saw it.

Arnold and Seraphina fighting against six masked men.

'Found you! '

Amon's left hand moved in an instant.

Black shadow coated the blade of his hatchet.

SWISSS!

A black trajectory streaked through the air toward the enemies.

The hatchet spun, its blade tearing through the wind.
