Adelia stopped right above her, glaring down.
"Then burn."
WHOOM!
Fire erupted around her fist. Pure light wrapped around her entire arm. She pulled her fist back.
Lynira's pupils shrank.
"Oh shi—"
She wrapped her belly with darkness.
CRAAAASH—!!
Adelia punched her straight in the stomach. The darkness broke instantly the moment it hit her.
The impact bent Lynira's body like a bow.
Air exploded out of her lungs.
A violent geyser of dust blasted upward.
Her body flew through several trees, smashing through trunks, shattering them into splinters.
She crashed into a boulder and slumped down, leaving cracks everywhere.
Her cough was choked, wet blood staining her chin.
She tried to stand but her knee buckled. Her vision doubled.
Her darkness mana leaked uncontrolled like wild smoke.
"You… really don't like jokes, do you…?"
Adelia strode forward again.
This time slower.
Like a hunter approaching prey. Her breathing was heavy. Her yellow eyes glowing.
One of the advantage of being Adapt Expert was that it increases one's ability to adapt with nature.
Right now, compared to Lynaria, Adelia was far more better at this. She could literally manipulate mana in her surroundings much better than Lynaria.
The flame element and light element blending together around her in such harmony was proof of it.
While Lynaira, who was single-element user with darkness element. Which was too much weak against light and fire. Gave Adelia much advantage.
"No. I do not." Adelia spoke.
Her flames sharpened into spears floating behind her. All pointed at Lynira's heart.
Lynira's breathing was ragged now. Her arms dangled. Her dagger was long melted.
She still forced a shaky grin.
"…so scary… so bright… it hurts…" Lynaria muttered.
Adelia's golden chains snapped tight again, dragging Lynira toward her.
A harsh WHIPLASH echoed as Lynira's body skimmed across broken ground.
The battle where both of them were fighting on same level—where it looked that both of them were at equal strength—now was different.
Adelia was clearly dominating now.
Lynaria gasped, unable to fight the force.
Adelia towered over her, eyes blazing like twin suns.
"You're finished."
Lynira swallowed. For the first time, her smile faltered. Her knees trembled.
Her darkness aura thinned and flickered like a dying candle.
Her voice dropped to a whisper.
"…I didn't… think you'd be this strong… You didn't fight with your all strength from the start."
She fell to one knee.
Then the other.
Blood dripped from her fingertips.
Her grin was gone.
Her eyes trembled faintly.
Adelia raised her hand. A massive spear of light forming above her, humming with lethal power.
Everything around them shook.
Lynira stared up, unable to move, chest rising in short, weak breaths.
"…so this is… your real power…"
Adelia took a step forward.
"I told you."
Her shadows stretched.
Her flames roared.
Her light blazed bright enough to blind.
"You won't walk out of this forest alive."
The spear of light lowered.
Ready to strike.
Right as Lynira, heavily injured and cornered, forced her trembling lips into one last, weak smile…
"…I guess… I lost this round… teacher… oh your students call you professor though."
In distance something golden light blazed violently.
"Ahhh!" A scream tore through them.
Lynaria's eyes moved in that direction. There, one of her underlings—he was killed by Seraphina and her other two friends.
She chuckled. Her eyes turned to Adelia again.
"Well but you can't kill me today."
Suddenly the ground beneath Adelia trembled.
Huge black towering pillars rose from her feet.
Adelia, who was focused on Lynaria and conjuring her spells sharper, was late to react.
BOOM!
They hit Adelia, but it didn't have much effect on her. As she lunged and launched her light and fire spells on those black pillars—
Thud!
She fell on ground.
BOOM!
Her spells exploded violently. The explosion was huge, spreading smoke and dust everywhere. Blinding everything from their sight.
Lynaria smirked. Smoke hiding her half figure. She was too much injured. She needed to get out of here fast.
Her storage ring shimmered as a cubic-shaped, brown-colored metal box appeared in her hand. It was cold. There were many runes and magical structures on it.
This was an artifact. Something that would help her to get out of here. It was given to her by Alaric so she could escape to a safe place in case something went wrong.
THUD!
She sensed something coming from behind her.
She licked the blood from her lips and turned back.
THUD!
There her another henchman fell on ground. His condition was not much better than hers.
He got up, trembling. "Boss!... let's get out." The man already saw the artifact which could help them run.
"Tch! Can't even kill some children. Alright, let's go. The other one is dead."
The artifact hovered in her hand. The runes on it glowing bright blue.
She was setting the location for opening the teleportation gate.
It didn't use much mana. But fighting Adelia really made her body tired. Draining mana. Dulling her senses.
"What are you doing?"
The blinding light tore between smoke. Adelia already standing.
"Shitt… hah," Lynaria cursed. Her breathing heavy.
A huge spear of fire shot toward her. She stopped using the artifact.
A huge dark sphere formed above her. It was compressed and trailing with pure darkness.
It shot at the spear.
But the fire spear spell was close to her.
BOOM!
The spells clashed against each other.
Being close to them, Lynaria was the one who felt its impact.
The man behind her pushed back.
While Lynaria still standing somehow. Her left hand covering her eyes.
"Hah… hah…" Her breathing ragged.
At that moment, she didn't notice it. Something flew in her direction during this explosion.
A black line trajectory formed in her direction.
SWISSS!
"I won't… die her—!?" Her sentence was cut in middle.
CRUSHED!
Then came a sound of something crushed with blade. Also similar to flesh splitting.
Lynaria stood there with wide eyes.
Blood dripped from her head. Her eyes slowly turned red. Bloodshot.
She turned her head slowly to the other side.
There standing a young boy with messy black hair.
His left hand extended empty in midair.
Then it clicked…
Her head, from one side, was split by the boy's hatchet.
Its curved blade thrust deep inside her skull and brain.
Her vision slowly blurred.
"Aaamon–" She muttered his name before her body fell on ground limp.
Thud!
Lynaria was dead.
