The Smiling Death

Chapter 236: Ideal Man For her!

After hearing everything from Galahad, Amon forced a smile.

"Oh… more than a week… Well, I can wait that much."

Amon was not bothered by the fact that he needed to wait for more than a whole week.

The issue was that he needed to go to the other side of the mountains, where the coastline was. Another problem was the demons.

Galahad told him that yesterday they had also seen some demons around the area, but they were not able to capture them.

So there was a huge possibility that the base might get ambushed by demons. The most concerning part was that they didn't know the exact number of demons.

So when a ship came to take Amon, some soldiers of Valmoria would also be on it, coming here to join them.

'Hah… I thought I could stay here comfortably while training… but damn, now I can't be calm… and knowing my luck since joining the Academy… it always puts me in the worst danger.'

Amon pushed those thoughts aside for now.

He turned his face and saw Caspian.

Those bright green hair and yellow eyes reminded him of someone.

Seeing Amon looking at him, Caspian smiled and introduced himself. "My name is Caspian Evangeline. I am the Vice Commander here. It's nice to meet you."

'Caspian Evangeline… he is Professor Adelia's big brother.'

Amon's eyes lit up. "You! You are Professor Adelia's brother… am I right?"

Caspian's smile widened. "You guessed that right. Yes, I am her brother."

Amon just nodded. He still remembered how everyone talked about Caspian, how he was crazy and overprotective of his sister.

Galahad gazed at Caspian. "Caspian, take him and show him his tent, where he will be staying."

Caspian got up from his seat. "As you say, Commander." He then turned to Amon. "Amon, come with me."

Amon got up from his own seat, bowed to Galahad, and walked outside with Caspian.

'He must be in his late twenties,' Amon thought while looking at the handsome man. 'And damn, he's tall.'

Caspian was taller than Amon. Easily over 180 centimeters, maybe near 190.

Amon really felt bad and envious toward him. It was not like Amon was short; he also had a height of 174 cm.

But the average height of adult men in this world was over 180 cm.

Some taller ones were above 190 cm, nearing 200 cm.

'I just turned eighteen years old… I can still grow taller,' he tried to console himself, forgetting that most men don't grow much after reaching the age of eighteen.

"So, Amon, I wanted to ask this for a while. Since you are from the Academy, how is Adelia doing?" Caspian wanted to know about his sister's condition. Since he had come to this place, he hadn't gotten any chance to talk with her or his family.

Because of that, he wanted to hear about her from Amon.

Amon blinked for a few seconds, then smiled gently. "Oh, Professor Adelia. She's doing perfectly fine. Honestly, she might be the most gentle person in the whole Academy."

Amon thought of her gentle and beautiful smile. He really missed her now.

Amon continued, his tone easy. "Since she's the chief healer at the Academy infirmary… honestly, without her, half the students would've dropped dead by now," he said, his last words in a joking tone.

Caspian let out a short laugh, relief flashing in his yellow eyes. "That sounds like her. Always patching people up."

"She's warm and gentle, but also strict," Amon added, a faint smile tugging at his lips. "If someone skips treatment or hides an injury, she will find out. And when she does… well, even top-rankers get scolded like children."

"Hah." Caspian shook his head as they walked between rows of tents. "She used to do that to me, even though I was the older one. When I'd come back injured from training and try to hide it, she'd just look at me once and say—'Sit down. Now.' "

Amon chuckled. "Yeah, that sounds familiar."

For a moment, Caspian's steps slowed. His voice softened. "Is she… overworking herself?"

Amon noticed it. The worry carefully hidden behind a casual question. "She works a lot," he answered honestly. "But she's respected. The infirmary runs smoothly, and the students trust her completely. She doesn't look unhappy."

Caspian exhaled quietly, as if releasing a breath he'd been holding for months. "Good. That's good to hear."

They reached a smaller tent near the edge of the camp, reinforced with wooden frames and rune-marked ropes. It was big enough for a single person.

"This will be yours," Caspian said, pulling aside the flap. "Not luxurious, but it's safe. And if demons really do attack…" His eyes sharpened. "You'll be close to where the defense line forms."

Amon stepped inside, then paused and turned back. "Vice Commander Caspian."

"Hm?"

"If you get the chance to send a message to the Academy… you should let Professor Adelia know you're fine."

Caspian smiled. This time, genuinely. "I will. And Amon…"

"Yes?"

"I really wanted to ask this of you…" Caspian's gaze measured him anew. "Is there anyone in the Academy… who flirts with Adelia or bothers her?"

Amon froze. Sweat started to form on his forehead because of nervousness. He scratched the back of his head, forcing a light grin.

"No… there is no one. I mean, who would have the guts to flirt with Professor Adelia? She's your sister. No one looks at her with bad intentions because of your name."

Amon couldn't tell him that the only person who had ever flirted with Adelia was none other than Amon himself.

What about flirting? He had even gone on a date with her and given her a gift.

Caspian nodded, clearly satisfied. "Good. It seems my name is still known in the Academy."

Amon hesitated for a moment, then gathered his courage. "By the way… why do you never let any man approach Professor Adelia?"

Caspian didn't seem offended by the question. Instead, his expression darkened slightly. "My sister is simply too beautiful. And because of that many men tried to approach her with impure intentions since years ago… those lecherous perverts." His voice turned cold before he let out a weary sigh.

"I won't go into details," he continued. "Though she is very strong and someone who could protect herself. But still from that that time, I decided to keep men away from her. She agreed as well and even told me she would marry the man I choose for her." As he spoke those final words, a proud smile appeared on his face.

Though Caspian spoke briefly, Amon could easily guess the rest. He couldn't deny the truth. Right now, in the entire Academy, Adelia possessed the most sinful body. It was no surprise that men approached her with ill intentions.

And yet… Amon felt anger rising in his chest.

'But wait. Aren't I the same?' he thought. 'No –no. I'm different. I was drawn to Professor Adelia because of her gentle personality. That's why I like her. I'm not like those perverts…'

He tried to convince himself.

It was true. Her personality was the biggest reason he was attracted to her. But that didn't mean he was completely innocent of having impure thoughts about her figure.

'Since we're already talking about this… I might as well ask.'

"Oh… I understand what you mean," Amon said carefully. "So… what kind of man do you want for Professor Adelia?"

'Yes. This is important,' he thought, his heart beating faster. 'If I know what kind of man he wants for his sister… I can become that man.'

Amon waited, barely hiding his anticipation.
