Fyar picked up an apple. "When I went to get info on my tournament match. When I opened the door, he was already dead in a... well, unnatural state. I can't really say, since we're eating." After saying that, Fyar bit into the apple.
Rasie nodded again, understanding. "And you got blamed?"
"Yeah, pretty much," Fyar confirmed. "I saw the woman hand over a body part from the gang boss and leave. By chance, his men were right behind me, and the situation turned chaotic."
"You managed to escape that?" Rasie asked again.
"Yeah." Fyar's face darkened slightly. "I had to kill some people I knew, too. And I'd say I came very close to dying."
Seeing Fyar's expression change and realizing what he'd been through, Rasie felt a bit of sympathy. "Does it affect you?"
Fyar bit his lip and fell silent. After a few seconds, he answered, "A little. But I don't want to keep thinking about it or pity what happened in the past. It's done." He then looked at Rasie, his grim expression gone. "Your turn!" Fyar pointed with his fork. "What did you, Zaefal, and Illya experience?"
Rasie chuckled. "Eh. Well, boring compared to you."
"Boring how?"
Rasie put her index finger on her cheek. "Hmm, let's see. We had a meeting, ate, had a tea party, had a meeting, ate, had a tea party, had a meeting..."
"Stop! Don't continue!" Fyar cut her off.
Damn it, they had it so easy, damn it! He grumbled.
Fyar then remembered something. "Oh, there's something I want to show you."
"Hm?" Rasie tilted her face.
Fyar took his adventurer card from his pocket and showed it to Rasie with a wide grin.
Rasie gasped. Her eyes bulged at the card. "L-L-L-Level twenty-nine? the fuckkk?!"
Fyar chuckled. "Ho ho ho."
"H-h-how?! Damn it! You cheated! Cheat! Cheat you fuking cheaat!" Rasie said.
Fyar shrugged. "Unfortunately, I'm bound by a contract, so I can't tell. Well, you probably already know what that contract means from our discussion in the dungeon."
"The dungeon?" Rasie remembered the troublesome conversation. "Ah. I see. So Wilas was killed by..." Rasie nodded. "Still cheating,."
Not long after, soft footsteps approached them.
Illya, her face still sleepy, came over, rubbing her eyes. "Morwring, Raswie~."
She looked at Fyar. Her cheeks flushed slightly before she greeted him with a smile. "Morning, Fyar."
"Morning, Illya," Fyar greeted back with the same smile.
Rasie looked at them suspiciously. "Since when?"
She stared at Illya. "Illya, since when?!"
Illya avoided Rasie's gaze shyly. "Y-yesterday?"
"Yesterday?!" She stared at Fyar.
Fyar avoided Rasie's gaze and mimicked Illya's tone. "Sh-she's right."
"Why are you acting weird, too the fuck!"
Rasie leaned back in her chair and sighed heavily. "Argh, so many unexpected things. Hah."
Illya then joined them and sat down next to Fyar.
Click.
The suite door opened. Zaefal stepped inside. He looked tired but focused. He closed the door behind him and walked to the dining table.
"How did it go?" Fyar asked immediately.
Zaefal sat in the empty chair, picking up a piece of bread. "Success," he said curtly.
"What do you mean, success zaefal?" Rasie asked.
"Our mission is a success," Zaefal said. "Martis has been killed. Xavier said one of his subordinates came to him and informed him that he had been killed by a Dragon."
"A Dragon. Strange he'd share that info." Fyar narrowed his eyes.
Zaefal massaged his temples. "He said the information might be useful. And he also told us we must be careful with the Dragon race. They also told us to leave here immediately because the situation ahead will be chaotic."
Zaefal then took out a check with the nominal amount of thirty thousand gold coins. "We can cash this at the repository."
A repository? Like a bank? Oh, they have those here.
He then looked at the check in front of him. His eyes instantly formed money symbols.
Rasie instantly shot up from her chair and celebrated like a crazy person. "Thirty thousand?! Ten thousand each?!"
She then started shadow boxing, mimicking Fyar. "Oosh, oosh, oosh oshh!"
"Whoos!" Rasie hissed.
Fyar looked at the check. "Thirty thousand. Ten thousand."
Fyar slammed his hands on the table. "G-goodbye, poverty! I will not forget you!" Fyar said in a deliberately dramatic tone.
Illya, sitting next to him, flinched slightly. After that, she smiled gently.
She speared a piece of meat on her plate and held it out to Fyar.
Fyar startled at the sudden gesture and shook his head. "No, Illya, I already..."
Illya ignored him. "You've been through a lot. Eat so you can recover quickly."
"But you already healed me with ma-"
"Ssssh." Illya cut him off and put the food to his lips.
Fyar reluctantly accepted the bite. His face turned slightly red.
Rasie laughed, mocking Fyar. "Listen to your mommy, purple-hair!"
Zaefal just smiled faintly at the scene.
Rasie stabbed another piece of sausage, still excited about the check on the table. She looked at Illya. "So, what happens to that alliance of yours, Illya? Since our mission is done now. Martis is... dead and yeah you know what I mean."
Illya pulled her hand back after Fyar accepted the bite. She seemed to think for a moment, her gaze shifting from Fyar to the food-laden table. "Hmm, maybe I'll become a passive investor. Or hand over my position to my family. I'll discuss it at the final meeting later."
"I see," Rasie nodded.
"How much did you invest, Illya? If I can ask?" Fyar asked, a little curious.
"thousands of gold coins," Illya answered with a faint smile. "It's not a large amount, Fyar." She picked up a glass of water nearby. "Here, drink." She offered it to Fyar.
Fyar stared at the glass, then at Illya. His cheeks turned red again. "Stop it, Illya. I'm not a baby."
"You're still injured and exhausted," Illya replied calmly, not pulling the glass back.
"When are we going back?" Rasie asked. Her gaze was now fixed on Zaefal, who was slowly eating his bread.
Zaefal, who still looked the most tired of them all, put down his bread. "Tomorrow. Today, like Illya said, we have to settle a few things. The final alliance meeting, and possibly other matters."
Zaefal let out a long sigh. A sigh that released all the tension from the past few weeks. His shoulders seemed to slump slightly. "It's finally over. I'll rest after eating."
Illya nodded. She looked at Fyar, then Zaefal, and finally at Rasie, who was staring at the check. "Yes," she said softly. "This mission is finally over."
