Apocalypse: My Talent Is Infinite

Chapter 47: Clone

[Self Clones (Trisource): Able to create 30 self-clones with 30% overall self strength.

After creation, clones can last infinitely, never run out of stamina, and are immune to all good or bad effects.

Cost: Full mana capacity per clone creation.

Each clone's death deducts 10 years from the user's lifespan.]

--

Aron was shocked by the information about the new class of talent. After reading the description, he finally understood why it was labeled Trisource - it involved every primary Talent class. The ability used an entire mana capacity to create a clone.

He couldn't help but wonder what would happen if he created one with his infinite mana reserve. The thought alone made him shake his head in anticipation.

The passive effect was even more ridiculous. After creation, the clones could live indefinitely without needing mana or any other energy source.

Seeing the lifespan cost one would incur after a clone's death, Aron now understood why the Reaper was always so edgy and cautious with his clones. Losing ten years per clone was insane, to say the least.

That meant, after losing four clones out of the seventeen Aron had seen, the Reaper had already lost forty years of his lifespan, just like that. It was crazy and too over-the-top, especially considering that each clone only had thirty percent of his original strength.

To say Aron was disappointed was an understatement.

The original Reaper finally moved into another room. Five clones guarded the inside while two more stood at the door, all armed with guns. The Reaper himself sat cross-legged, back to meditating.

--

Aron, still in stealth, was about to leave the building. However, his heart became torn between two choices.

Inside one of the wards, four Reaper clones stood guard at the entrance of a room. Inside were two people, both Awakened.

One was a half-dead man with an O mark on his forehead, clearly tortured. The other, a woman sitting silently in a corner, looked worn and sleepless, her hair disheveled, her eyes shadowed by dark circles.

That woman was none other than Rose.

Aron had noticed her the moment he entered the building but had no plans to help.

Her strength had improved since the last time they met, but it was still nothing compared to the zombies outside. At best, she was near the peak of the Awakened rank. Leaving her there felt like doing her a favor.

But after gaining the clone ability, his thoughts changed.

He knew his lifespan would start suffering if he didn't find a way to extend it. Even though he had obtained a few internal cores that could slightly increase his lifespan, it was still a drop in the ocean compared to what his Talent consumed.

Even though he only received forty percent of the rental cost from people with an existing ability, Aron felt that Rose, with her dome shield, was the perfect candidate to rent a talent to. Her potential was clear from her progress despite only having a shield-type ability.

"She would've been perfect for the thunder ability…" Aron murmured, a tinge of regret in his voice.

He couldn't help but feel that Kaiser was too lucky.

The reason he had given Kaiser the thunder talent was simple, at first, Aron believed that once he rented a talent out, he wouldn't be able to use it himself.

Even though the thunder talent was destructive as hell, Aron had thought it too noisy and high-profile. At the time, water control had seemed far more practical because of the constant aging rain.

But after renting it out, he discovered, he could still use the talent just fine. The only limit being that he couldn't rent the same talent to another person again.

Aron clicked his tongue. "Kaiser's next payment just went up."

Still, he knew that if he tried to break Rose out, his cover would be blown. That would ruin all his efforts to slip in and out unnoticed.

He sighed.

(It is what it is.)

--

Using his stealth he slip past the clones, Aron soon reached the front of the room where Rose and the other Awakener were being held.

The guards felt a sudden gust of wind and a blur passing by.

Boom!

The door behind them shattered into splinters. They turned just in time to see a flash of movement inside the room. The intruder's face appeared for only a split second before he grabbed one of the captives and vanished like an illusion, leaving only a cold breeze in his wake.

Moments later, Aron could be seen running through the corridors with a smile on his face.

In front of his vision floated a new notification:

[Infinite Stamina (Passive): Inexhaustible stamina.]

He couldn't hold back a laugh. "Now this is what I'm talking about."

Since he was already there, he decided to claim the talent of the half-dead man before leaving.

He'd made sure not to kill anyone, In his mind, that made them even.

--

Some time later, after Aron had long escaped, the real Reaper stood silently in the hallway where his clones had last seen the intruder.

He crouched down, removed one of the three rings on his fingers, and pressed it to the Floor. The ring began to glow before turning to dust, which then flowed into his eyes. A notification appeared before him:

[Ring of fate (one time use):

Name: ????

Alias: Saint

Talent: ????

Rank: ????

Description: ???? Fate Unbound]

Seeing all the question marks, the Reaper didn't look disappointed at all. Instead, he began laughing like a lunatic, as if he'd hit the jackpot.

Another notification soon popped up.

[Solara Group Chat]

Reaper: @D-One I have vital information about the one who killed your brother. I don't want the cores being offered. I just want you to let bygones be bygones between us.

D-One: Ok.
