"There must be some treasure hidden here. These past days, Brother Ethan has been feeding me meat and soup. If there is anything I, Magnus, can do in the future, I will go through fire and water without hesitation!" Magnus cupped his fist solemnly.
Before anyone could respond, the ancient stone door finished rising with a final grinding roar.
A wave of stale, humid air gushed out, carrying the scent of age and decay—far older than anything on the surface.
Asher stepped forward and appeared before the three with a flicker of movement.
"I'll take the lead. You follow. Be cautious."
The three nodded and followed him inside.
To their surprise… the ruin was not what any of them expected.
There were no soaring halls, no towering monuments, no labyrinth of ancient relics.
Instead—
A small circular chamber, barely ten feet across.
At the center stood a stepped platform, ringed by four thick stone pillars reaching up to the ceiling. Behind them, two more rings of pillars lay collapsed, snapped cleanly as if crushed by time. Moss, vines, and dampness blanketed everything, creating a near-forgotten atmosphere.
Their boots pressed into slippery moss and thorny vines that had overtaken the cave floor.
However, none of this hindered the four cultivators.
Asher frowned. "No traps… no danger?"
The silence felt wrong. Too quiet. Too ordinary for something sealed behind a formation so powerful that even he couldn't break it.
He spread his senses outward.
"You three can relax. There's no danger in this chamber."
He leapt lightly onto the central platform.
Ethan, Zeon, and Magnus followed.
Zeon peered around curiously.
"This looks like a sacrificial altar. But there's nothing here… no coffin, no relics."
Ethan, however, remained calm.
The stone tablet had already hinted: this was a cultivation ground, not an inheritance or tomb.
So, a lack of treasure was normal.
Magnus scratched his head.
"Feels… unimpressive."
Asher exhaled and looked directly at Ethan.
"I can't see anything. You try. Since you opened the stone gate, you should know more."
"Okay," Ethan replied.
He stepped to the center of the central platform, where a smaller circular stone table lay beneath layers of vines.
He swept his hand, releasing golden energy that burned the vines away cleanly.
Underneath, etched deeply into the stone, was a formation of nine stars, along with a string of words of the ancient original Dao text.
A blue flash crossed Ethan's eyes.
[Original Dao Text library injection complete. Sir has fully mastered original Dao text.]
Ethan's vision sharpened; the once obscure words immediately became clear.
He whispered the translation:
"The obstacles between heaven and earth here are weak.
As my successor, you may absorb power of the Nine Emperors Dao Body here and activate the star formation.
Cultivating here greatly weakens the barrier of heaven and earth, increasing progress several times."
Another line followed:
"I hope my successor can perfect the Nine Emperors Dao Body, manifest the Nine Emperor Dao Physique, and break the shackles of heaven and earth before that day arrives."
Ethan fell silent.
"That day… the shackles of heaven and earth…"
"Always riddles," Ethan muttered.
But he knew—whatever "that day" was, it would reshape the fate of the entire continent.
He reached out, touching the carvings.
Star power surged from his palm.
The words transformed into golden motes and dispersed softly.
"Senior, your words will be engraved in my heart. I don't know when 'that day' will come, but before the black chains descend fully… I will break them."
Ethan cupped his hands toward the fading light in silent respect.
Asher saw this and, without thinking, mirrored the gesture.
Zeon and Magnus exchanged glances—then copied as well.
If Ethan and Senior Asher respected it, they would too.
Ethan took a deep breath and placed his palm on the stone platform once more, channeling Emperor Star power into it.
The carved lines beneath their feet lit up.
Golden radiance flowed outward, like water filling ancient channels. The streams of light connected to the four standing pillars.
Suddenly—
BOOM—!!
The entire chamber illuminated.
Zeon jumped.
"Oh ho! That's amazing!"
Ethan withdrew his hand and looked upward.
The four pillars projected beams of golden light that struck the ceiling, creating a shimmering dome-like reflection.
Then—
The platform moved beneath them.
Slowly rotating.
A golden light curtain surged upward around the four of them.
The energy felt pure, ancient, and transcendent—like being caressed by the breath of the cosmos.
Ethan felt it first.
His body loosened. Through his meridians, he could clearly feel the energy of heaven and earth growing majestic and solid, and the connection between himself and the starry sky becoming stronger
"This feeling…"
He trembled slightly.
"It's as if heaven itself is pouring through me."
Asher closed his eyes.
"This power… I've never sensed anything like it. It's not from this world."
Ethan activated his Heaven-Piercing Mind Eyes.
Blue light filled his vision.
The world faded—
The starry sky spread before him.
And above that sky—
Huge black chains crisscrossed like a vast net.
Chains that bound heaven and earth, hindering cultivation for all beings.
But here—
The golden light curtain pierced through the chains.
Ethan watched in awe as the chains thinned and weakened at this point more than anywhere he had ever seen.
"So this is the weakest point in all of Skyreach territory…"
Ethan closed his eyes, raised his arms, and let the Nine Emperors Dao Body refining technique operate.
Darkness swallowed him.
A mirror lake reflected the cosmos.
Above him—
A colossal golden star appeared, descending until it hovered behind him like a radiant sun.
The star rotated slowly.
Golden star power streamed downward like celestial nectar, condensing above Ethan's head.
"What a majestic star power…"
"The energy of the heavenly veins is several times stronger…"
"And—"
"The Sun and Moon Divine Fetus is moving!"
Ethan felt its first stirrings. Suddenly alive—suddenly hungry—suddenly awakening.
His soul trembled with anticipation.
