Chapter 462

"What will you say to that woman?"

"…."

Thousand Faces frowned slightly beneath his mask.

After a brief silence, he spoke coldly, "Refine the fake body first. Once it's finished, I'll find a way to convince the Deputy Pavilion Master to search for the mask with us."

Late at night.

Fifty miles away from Netherfall Pass.

A tall figure fell from the sky and landed soundlessly in the depths of a dense forest. Not a single leaf was disturbed. No spiritual energy fluctuations spread outward.

Yet—

He had descended from the sky.

That alone was enough to be unsettling.

Ethan straightened his posture.

"Heaven-piercing Mind Eyes."

Blue light flashed beneath the mask.

In the next instant, the world transformed.

Mountains, forests, streams, underground veins—everything within a ten-mile radius unfolded before him like a translucent map. Terrain, caves, aura flows, even faint residual traces of cultivation were all laid bare.

Ethan's gaze locked onto a mountain not far away.

Inside it—

A cave.

Within the cave, a figure sat cross-legged.

"This aura…"

Ethan's lips curved upward slightly.

"It's definitely Thousand Faces."

He had not come here recklessly.

Earlier, he had placed a puppet in the inn and left behind Onyx Orchid's aura as bait. This was not an ambush.

This was reconnaissance.

He wanted certainty.

He wanted to know where Thousand Faces had hidden his new fake body.

Ethan shifted and slipped into a cluster of bushes. His figure blurred, breath vanishing entirely, merging into the darkness as if he had never existed.

Moments later—

A streak of deep blue light tore through the sky and descended into the same cave.

Ethan's pupils contracted.

"This pressure…"

"Divine power."

"An Ultimate Supreme."

His expression grew slightly solemn.

He maintained the Heaven-piercing Mind Eyes and carefully observed the cave. With his current Breathing Technique combined with Onyx Orchid's mask—even an Ultimate Supreme would find it extremely difficult to detect him.

He did not panic.

He waited.

Time passed.

No fighting erupted inside the cave.

"So they're on the same side," Ethan thought calmly.

"At least… not enemies."

If that woman had attacked Thousand Faces just now, the shockwaves alone would have exposed everything.

Fortunately, she hadn't.

But this raised another question.

"What kind of identity does Thousand Faces have?"

"To be connected to an Ultimate Supreme…"

"And why didn't he ask her to act earlier?"

"Or… is she his true backer?"

Ethan's thoughts turned cold.

Ultimate Supremes were no ordinary figures.

Every one of them had survived countless life-and-death struggles. Their strength wasn't merely a matter of realm—it was the accumulation of trump cards, forbidden techniques, artifacts, and experience.

Unless there was absolute suppression, or an artifact like the Chaos Clock—

Killing an Ultimate Supreme was nearly impossible.

That was why Ethan did not rush in.

He needed the fake body.

Inside the cave.

Thousand Faces stood respectfully before Celeste.

"Deputy Pavilion Master," he asked, "is there any news about Ethan?"

"Information gathering is the Pavilion of Heavenly Secrets' specialty," Celeste replied indifferently.

"Some time ago, reports confirmed that Ethan subdued the Royal Beast Sect in Skyreach Territory."

"He then stayed briefly in Noble Sun City before disappearing."

"It is highly likely he entered the Demon territory."

She paused briefly.

"Senior Xalor once predicted that Ethan's destiny star had shifted to the border of Skyreach Territory."

Celeste would not normally share such information.

But multiple intelligence lines had already confirmed Ethan's presence near the Demon territory.

Thousand Faces was already here.

"I see," Thousand Faces nodded slowly.

"In that case, Ethan probably came here for the training trial."

He hesitated for a moment, then added, "However, we still have no concrete trace of him."

"Deputy Pavilion Master… are you interested in treasure hunting with me?"

"Not interested."

Celeste glanced at him, impatience flickering faintly in her eyes.

"Your mission is simple."

"Help me capture Ethan."

"Do you understand?"

"Understood," Thousand Faces replied with a smile.

But inside, his teeth were grinding.

"Damn woman… don't let me catch you slipping…"

Celeste turned her back to him.

"I won't force you."

"If you don't want to act, you can leave."

"With your strength, you're not particularly useful anyway."

"You might even become a burden."

Her words were calm.

Sharp.

Cruel.

"I'll wait for you at Netherfall Pass," she continued. "Three days."

"If you want to act with me, come."

"If not, do as you please."

With that, she left the cave and turned into a streak of blue light, flying toward Netherfall Pass.

"That direction…"

Ethan narrowed his eyes.

"So she's heading to Netherfall Pass."

"Looking for me?"

Not long after Celeste departed, Thousand Faces exited the cave.

He stared in the same direction.

If he didn't act together with Celeste, how could he possibly kill Ethan, take revenge, and obtain the secret of the incomplete stone tablet?

He clenched his fist.

"Celeste… right?"

"Don't give me a chance."

"If you do, I'll make you regret it."

Thousand Faces transformed into a streak of light and vanished.

Ethan waited.

Only after confirming that Thousand Faces was truly gone did he step into the cave.

"This guy really is cautious."

He immediately retreated half a step.

The cave was filled with formations.

If disturbed—even slightly—Thousand Faces would know.

Ethan examined everything carefully.

No fake body.

No soul imprint.

Nothing.

After confirming this, he left without triggering a single restriction and followed in the direction Thousand Faces had gone.

With Thousand Faces' speed, escaping Ethan was impossible.

Within minutes, Ethan caught up and began tailing him from afar.

For several hours, Thousand Faces moved continuously.

He visited three locations.

Each was hundreds of miles away from Netherfall Pass.

Each separated by vast distances.

At every location, he stopped briefly—then left.

"What is he doing?" Ethan wondered.

He concealed himself within the canopy of a towering ancient tree and watched as Thousand Faces plunged into a lake.

The fourth location.

Ethan did not follow immediately.

Instead, he returned to the previous three sites.

Each contained a body.

Perfectly preserved.

No obvious flaws.

No clear aura leakage.

He is still unable to determine whether the three bodies are real fake bodies.
