Selena moved with impossible speed for her size. She rushed Vahn, her massive, icy Greatsword erupting with a chilling blue aura, aiming to cleave Vahn and the entire balcony in half. The attack was sudden, overwhelming, and focused entirely on the King.
"I will kill you and your Queens! I will not let you stand against the Frost Giant Kingdom!" she roared.
Vahn did not move. He did not need to.
Seraphina reacted in his place. The Heaven Grade Scepter of Radiance glowed blindingly white in her hand.
"Sanctuary!"
FWOOM!
Before Selena's Greatsword could connect, a massive, shimmering dome of pure, defensive Holy Light instantly erupted, completely encasing Vahn, Seraphina and Lilith in an impenetrable barrier.
Selena's Greatsword hit the Sanctuary field with the force of a falling glacier. The sound was a deafening CRUNCH, shaking the entire Misty Valley and creating a deep crater where she stood, but the Sanctuary Dome did not even ripple. It perfectly deflected the blow, proving its Heaven Grade defensive capabilities.
Selena stumbled back, her eyes wide with shock. Her strongest surprise attack one that could shatter Nascent Soul defenses had been stopped by a mere flower Queen.
Then, she heard the same flower queen say domineeringly: "I am not weak. I'm just merciful!"
The statement was not a boast, but a declaration of the terrifying, restrained power of the Light Saintess.
After saying that, Seraphina waved her Heaven Grade Scepter of Radiance. The scepter pulsed, channeling the pure Light essence of her Dao into a devastating attack. The sky above the palace hummed with divinity as Seraphina created a massive Trident of Pure Light.
HUMM!
The Trident descended like divine judgment from the heavens. Selena raised several layers of Ice barriers to defend herself, but her magic was powerless against the focused, pure energy of the Heaven Grade Light Art.
All her defenses crumbled under the Trident's overwhelming force.
"Bang!"
The Princess of the Frost Giant Kingdom was blasted off the plateau, sent tumbling outside the immediate vicinity of the kingdom like an ant, without dignity or respect.
She was not dead, but utterly defeated and humiliated.
Seraphina looked at Vahn in slight hesitation, the ferocity of the moment fading. "Did I do it right, Husband?"
He nodded proudly, walking over and wrapping his arm around her. "You did it better than I could have. I am proud of my Wife."
The brief, lovely-dovey exchange between Vahn and Seraphina once again stirred Lilith's heart, deep within the isolation chamber where she labored over the cure.
The sight of Vahn's pride in Seraphina, and the realization that she was intentionally excluded from these moments, fueled her internal turmoil.
She decided that tonight she would take the initiative to talk to him.
She must not let these conflicting emotions run rampant. They needed to be settled, for better or worse. Even if he refused her as his wife, she would still do her part as his ally and Minister. She needed clarity.
Meanwhile, Ezekiel returned victoriously from his nearly completed conquest. He had subjugated the entire Oslan region in under ten days, securing vast new resources and thousands of recruits.
He approached the Palace, only to halt at the edge of the spiritual barrier. He saw the unconscious figure of a stunningly beautiful Frost Giant Princess lying outside the defenses.
First, he sought instructions from his King via spiritual transmission.
Vahn replied immediately, revealing her identity. He confirmed that the Frost Giant Princess was an invading agent who had just been forcefully repelled.
Ezekiel's heart was already tempered by the brutality of battle and the sheer scale of the war he had just executed. The identity of his new captive did not flinch him too much. He knew this meant war with a Kingdom, but also provided an immense bargaining chip.
He did as ordered. He approached the unconscious Princess with a contingent of his new, terrifying guards.
"Take her under custody," Ezekiel commanded, ensuring she was treated with care and transported into a secure, heavily guarded cell within the Royal Palace. "She is now leverage against the Frost Giant Kingdom."
The guards moved quickly. They carried the giant woman, who was bruised and unconscious after Seraphina's brutal strike, to the Royal Palace. She was immediately secured in a specialized holding cell under the supervision of the newly installed Exelcrest Clan guards.
This scene did not go unwitnessed. A few Frost Giants, sneaking nearby, had originally followed their Princess here as an advance scouting party.
"Leader, we should move and inform the King. They have powerful forces in that Palace," one whispered, trembling slightly at the thought of the Holy Light that had blasted their Princess.
"Alright, make haste. The Princess has been Captured."
Riding on their Ice Mounds, they hurriedly sped away, determined to deliver the news to King Belmont. The Necrotic Dynasty had just acquired its most valuable leverage and simultaneously declared war on the Frost Giant Kingdom.
Night had fallen. In the Royal Bedchamber, Vahn was deep in thought, focused on the impending task of lifting Lilith's curse. The more he observed her, the more sadness he saw hidden behind her aloofness.
Her curse had defiled her face, forcing her to wear others' faces. Most often, she covered her true self with a veil of darkness. He fiercely wished to set her free from that curse.
At that moment, his blessing: Curse Monarch's Halo came to mind. While it was described to provide him immunity from all curses, he knew there was still a chance it could be used offensively—to purify the demonic energy in Lilith's system. But how he could safely execute the extraction was the real question.
With that intention in mind, he opened the door to head toward her isolated chamber, but just then, he got a scare.
Lilith's veiled figure stood silently just outside the door, her presence completely masked by the Dagger of Hecate's aura.
Both of them froze, momentarily surprised by the unexpected rendezvous.
"Instructor, why are you here?" Vahn asked, recovering first.
"I have something to confirm, Your Majesty," she replied, her tone deliberately formal and distant.
"Why are you calling me so formally, Lilith? We are—"
"We're what?" she interrupted, her voice sharp with suppressed emotion. "I need to hear it clearly. I need to know the terms of our relationship immediately."
Vahn sighed, recognizing the desperate plea for clarity hidden beneath her cold facade.
He signaled Lilith to enter.
"Come inside. Let me clear the relationship between us."
The door closed behind them, sealing the two of them inside.
Seraphina watched this entire scene unfold from the hallway with a faint, knowing smile.
As a woman, she was naturally unwilling to share her husband, but since it was Lilith—a woman who carried such deep pain and was now sacrificing everything for the Dynasty—things became different. Seraphina genuinely sought to make peace and welcome her.
Suddenly, Eterna's whispers echoed, startling Seraphina.
"Mommy, what's Aunt Lilith doing in Papa's room? Wasn't you yesterday who slept with him?"
Seraphina turned around and gave Eterna a suspicious look. "How do you know that, Sweetheart? Did you pretend to fall asleep?"
Eterna bit her tongue, feeling caught. Then she adorably hid under the pillow.
Seraphina just laughed at her daughter's antics.
