Defying the Fate of Beheading

Chapter 200: Meeting with Miss Qian (5000 words)_2

Qian looked at him and said:

"Do you really like eating this kind of food?"

Qian had a serious expression as if she planned to remember this detail.

Only at this moment did Louis see a glimpse of her former self as an aide.

Louis clasped his index finger and thumb together:

"Just a little bit."

Qian nodded.

Though she didn't understand the joke about a universe at one's fingertips, she still grasped Louis's meaning.

She felt her ears growing slightly warm.

Was it really okay to snatch someone else's food like this?

But since it was already in her mouth, she couldn't exactly spit it out for him to see, could she?

Secretly, Qian made a mental note of this incident.

"The dumplings are quite tasty; I need to return to protect your Beatrice."

Qian laughed softly.

Louis looked at her and suddenly said:

"On Master Rogen's funeral day, it was you, wasn't it?"

Qian glanced at him and said:

"I've been out of touch with him for a long time."

Louis pondered for a moment, patted his head, and with a wave, a knife appeared in his hand.

"Want to see if you can use it?"

Qian curiously glanced at it, then after a moment seemed to remember something, shook her head and said:

"No need to try, I won't have the chance."

Louis frowned: "Just touch it with your hand."

The knife Louis produced was the Rebirth Blade.

He had to admit, this knife was even more effective against necrotic creatures than he had imagined.

His heart told him he should possess this knife.

But his principles told him that if possible, he should return this knife to Qian.

It was the proof Rogen left in this world.

Qian saw his determined expression and said with a helpless look:

"The emperor has already talked to me about this; I don't think my rebellious self could gain its approval."

Louis said nothing; he just held up the knife, indicating she should try.

In Rogen's memory, he felt immense regret toward Qian.

The pain of not protecting her mother, his own beloved.

The reluctance of not giving Qian a complete family.

The distress of not seeing his daughter before departing.

And the guilt of leaving her alone in this world early on.

The only thing absent was any dissatisfaction toward her.

Involuntarily, he recalled the day of Master Rogen's burial, when Qian was at his grave.

It seemed she was burning the relics Master Rogen had left behind.

Perhaps afraid of being overwhelmed by emotions.

She said at the time:

"It's strange, no matter where I stand, the flames blow towards me, burning my cheek trying to avoid it..."

"Sometimes I wonder, does being separated by life and death make contact with you a forbidden act, so when you touch my face, it's this painful."

Clearly, Qian hadn't come to terms with it as much as she imagined.

He sighed.

That Great Sin of Greed roiled within him constantly accusing him:

"Take that thing back! Retrieve it! It's a good thing!"

But Louis still mercilessly suppressed such emotions.

He had his principles.

He would never allow the Great Sin of Greed to interfere.

Qian silently glanced at him, and ultimately reached out to touch the Rebirth Blade.

But then, an unexpected scene unfolded for Louis.

The Rebirth Blade suddenly emitted a flash of lightning, knocking her hand away.

The flash didn't cause any harm, but it was incredibly...

Louis was at a loss for words.

He could be sure Rogen never held any hatred for Qian.

But faced with the current scene, he didn't know what to say.

Had it really doomed itself, even rejecting its daughter? This shouldn't be!

The light in Qian's eyes instantaneously dimmed.

Louis sighed and put the Rebirth Blade away, saying:

"There's no way he could hate you; I swear, I saw the memories left inside the Rebirth Blade."

Qian shook her head and said:

"He's right, you are more determined to bear everything than I am."

Louis shook his head:

"That can only mean that the Rebirth Blade does not represent him."

Qian said indifferently:

"It's okay, it doesn't matter anymore."

Qian waved at him: "I need to return to protect your little wife."

Then she strolled away from the place.

Louis shook his head.

Perhaps he shouldn't have insisted on his views?

"Rebirth Blade, don't you really have a heart?"

The Rebirth Blade trembled slightly, then everything returned to calm.

That night, Louis returned home, stretched after getting back, and prepared to sleep.

In a trance.

Upon regaining his awareness, he once again felt his body being controlled.

It was the same dream as before.

In the dream, he stood beside that woman like a stiff robot, repetitively performing the action of making candied yams.

Louis began to feel like swearing.

Sis!

Can't I just call you sis!?

What exactly do you want?

I'm not familiar with you; I don't even know who you are.

"Ding-dong~"

"Ding-dong~"

That ethereal female voice kept echoing; she seemed to be humming some sort of melody.

Truth be told, the voice was quite pleasant.

But as everyone knows, even a nursery rhyme like "Fly, Bug" can turn into a horror sound effect in specific contexts.

Let alone such a constantly echoing sound in this relatively small space.

Listening for too long, a certain invisible terror indeed arises.

Louis took a deep breath.

He tried hard to break free from this dream.

Though the archbishop of the Church of Death and Sleep said that such dreams pose no problem.

But he really disliked this uncontrollable feeling.

Coincidentally.

Louis happened to possess a certain ability to pull himself out of a dream.

Even in the dream, he could still summon that power.

So he said:

"Dragon Sin Armament - Liberation Form."
