Defying the Fate of Beheading

Chapter 93: New Skill Unlocked! [Grip of Greed]!_2

Day 2: The poor White Tower experiment subjects protest at the waste disposal plant.

Day 3: The Wave of the Living Dead on Dragonbone Prairie is halted by outsiders.

Day 4: Louis convinces the legendary Sapphire Dragon with a strategy game.

Day 5: Prince Louis easily claims the heir of the top family, Gregory.

Day 6: The glorious and righteous Prince of the Empire marries the future Empress!

Couldn't hold back.

Only the world with an injured Gregory was achieved.

It can be foreseen that for a long time in the future, Louis will become the topic of casual conversation among Tino's citizens.

Of course, there were also many who rose to fame riding Louis' coattails.

The legendary Sapphire Dragons, Sean and Fafnir, could be said to be immensely popular.

However, for one, the citizens of Tino could not see the two dragons who had already left.

Secondly, the legendary power is too distant from ordinary people, making it somewhat taboo to discuss.

Respecting the powerful is not a concept exclusive to the past life.

But because of this, there was another person, or rather an association, that became the topic of conversation from ordinary citizens to high-ranking officials.

That's right, it's our Mr. Mayer Morgan Rockefeller and his Mayer Commerce Association!

Almost overnight, the entire Imperial Capital knew the name of this newly established association.

Legendary dragons are too distant.

Mayer Commerce is too close.

If you can't see the dragons, can't you at least see Mayer?

Thus, Louis didn't even need to actively promote it; the doors of Mayer Commerce were nearly flattened by the thronging customers.

...

"Mr. Mayer, madness! The guests have gone mad, all the lapel suits and Baroque ladies' dresses in the store are sold out!"

"Lord Mayer, help! They've even snatched up all our matching boots and round-toed shoes!"

"President, they're even hoping we'll supply them with desserts and tea!"

"President, the perfume section is empty!"

...

"Stop, stop!"

With a splitting headache, Louis interrupted the store clerks' reports.

"Don't tell me one by one; just tell me which products haven't been sold yet?"

The store clerks looked at each other.

Finally, out of over twenty clerks, only two raised their hands somewhat awkwardly.

Louis tapped his cane lightly on the ground and asked:

"Which area are you responsible for?"

One clerk said, "Mr. Mayer, I'm in charge of the kitchen and bath accessories area. The selling speed is relatively slow, and 20% of the products are unsold."

Louis asked, "Which ones?"

"Bath towels and brushes, those can be explained to the customers and they understand, but for soap, it seems the mage community has cheaper alternative products."

Louis pondered for a moment and then turned to the middle-aged man beside him:

"Rom, how much longer for the renovations on the warehouse next door?"

The middle-aged man named Rom said:

"Mr. Mayer, even if we speed up the process, it'll still take until at least a month later."

Rom hesitated for a moment, and as Mayer's appointed practical manager, he kindly reminded:

"Sir, the warehouse area at the back of Mayer Commerce is large; why not directly demolish it and build a bigger association site?"

Louis shook his head and said, "It's a matter of positioning; just follow the plan."

He looked to the clerk who had reported earlier and said:

"Take down all the soaps and bath towels, and any unopened ones should be sent directly to the warehouse and stored in a separate compartment."

"Those that were opened can be given as gifts to the customers who bought expensive items and haven't left yet."

The clerk nodded, and Rom added:

"Mr. Mayer, should we tell the factory to halt production?"

Louis shook his head: "No, have them increase the production as much as possible for the items taken down today."

"Their destination is not our current direct stores but the warehouse next door."

"Rom, follow me and try to look to the future, not just the present."

Rom nodded, understanding that Louis had other plans for the inventory.

Louis then turned to another clerk: "What's left over there are those tea cups and plates with Mayer Commerce numbers, right?"

The clerk nodded.

"Then follow the original plan, take the subsequent numbered plates and tea sets to the street's most visible place, and smash them in front of everyone."

"Promote around the area that Mayer Commerce is willing to repurchase numbered products at twice the price."

"Remember, emphasize to everyone that Mayer Commerce refuses defective products and is willing to cover any that are defective."

The clerk nodded: "Alright, sir."

Louis waved his hand and said, "Alright, Mayer Commerce is closing early today!"

Cheers from the clerks below erupted.

Louis patted the dimensional bag at his waist, a smug smile appearing on his face.

The warehouse next door has a large area.

For many businesses in the Imperial Capital, those with the strength and need for such large spaces have already acquired the related establishments.

Meanwhile, smaller businesses either don't need it or don't have enough liquid cash.

Coupled with the fact that it was originally the property of a bankrupt merchant, really trying to reuse the land to establish an association would require demolishing the warehouse and rebuilding.

Going back and forth, it would cost even more.

So even though the large warehouse behind had a good geographic location, no one could take over immediately.

But Louis directly bought it.

He plans to transform the warehouse into something novel on the Star Continent.

But more on that later.

As for the plates and tea sets... there are actually no defects.

It's just that Louis, who has tasted the joy of "flow," plans to pull another marketing strategy.

If the ball last week laid the foundation for the Mayer Commerce name, he intends to turn it into a symbol of "high-end, grand, and upper-class" in the hearts of Tino's good citizens.

He also has a hunch.

Destroying these remaining numbered plates and tea sets might not lead to many being returned, but could raise the value of those held by buyers.

By then...

Hehehe.

Louis couldn't help but smile as he thought of the special plates and tea sets in his pocket that weren't put directly on the shelves.

Give him a little more time, and even without accounting for the sales growth brought by this marketing wave, it's not certain who will profit or lose!

Oh my!

All the little money is mine!

Louis revealed his Face of Greed without reservation.

Now he is the "big" businessman designated by the Empire's nobility!

Even though his commerce has just started operating.

Even though the person who designated Mayer Commerce as a supplier for the nobility is himself.

Even though there's no such thing as "Sapphire Dragons' humanoid attire," it's okay.

But none of this matters.

Just like now, it might only be Sapphire Dragon Sean and Fafnir left.

This couple decided that Baroque long dresses and peaked lapel suits are their ceremonial attire, so even if he's brought before the God of Contract to verify the truth, he'd dare say "this is the signature outfit of the Sapphire Dragon."

The lie of a lie can instantly reverse things!

In a daze, he seemed to see a stream of Gold Coins flowing into his pocket.

The ever increasingly restless [Great Sin: Greed] was surprisingly suppressed quite a bit by this abstract move.

Just as he was about to leave Mayer Commerce, his expression changed slightly.

Just now, he felt he had gained another skill.

"Grip of Greed?"

"The more wealth amassed, the greater the grip of invisible tentacles wherever I look?"

"Damn! It doesn't consume Magic Power, only energy, doesn't that make it a weaklings' harvester?"

Louis was shocked.

Unexpectedly, after playing a hand of "Transformation," he unlocked another skill.

Eager, he wanted to experiment with the Grip of Greed but paused as he stepped out of the commerce door.

Seeing a father and son standing in the wind, he showed a puzzled expression.

"Why are they here?"

Looking at Harley Todd and Gregory Todd standing at the entrance, the first reaction Louis had was whether his [Mask of Greed] skill hadn't taken effect.

After all, Mayer in this persona hadn't dealt with these two.

Yet, here they were seeking him out, which was quite odd.

Before he could speak, a familiar voice was heard:

"Mr. Mayer, the two from the Todd Family have something to discuss with you."

Louis looked in surprise at the Mage.

"Lord Gandalf, why has he come too?"
