Once Rosa and Elara agreed to a temporary peace treaty, they really got into it and behaved like teammates.
Anyone could see they didn't like each other, but both had such good chemistry, as if they understood each other with no words spoken, that Aegon felt like teaming them up.
So, after explaining their situation, Aegon said, "Rosa, support them once you're done farming a bit. El can do high damage, you can deal better critical attacks to end their lives."
"Sure! I'll kill steal!" Rosa winked at him.
"Wait! I've heard a lot about Supremacy Games, but never actually seen it, so I'm not clear about the rules and everything," Elara said, scratching her chin. "I'm sorry I didn't study it."
"It's fine. Everything is pretty simple," Aegon nodded and raised his head to look at the giant screen embedded on the crimson walls.
It was no different than an HD Television, which once again surprised Aegon. It showed the insides of the game from various angles.
Currently, everything was empty, but they could still see the map: a vast field of unknown length with walls made out of seasoned stones. The borders were tall, forbidding eyes from seeing what lay beyond. Dense grass grew over several spaces, separating the regions but still giving more than enough space to move around.
Many monsters in various shapes rested in their designated locations, waiting for their prey.
Separated by all of these were three paths, having towers bearing statues over them placed along all three paths at certain distances. A total of nine towers, three each on the lanes.
The same layout mirrored itself on the other half of this rectangular field. Both halves were separated by a diagonal stretch. At the corner of each half was a dome-like structure, with a towering statue created upon it.
The only differences between the two halves were the statues and the climate.
One half was covered with gray ashes, as they constantly fell like eternal rain from the cloudy sky. Surprisingly, the field seemed to contain an infinite amount of ashes, as no matter how much the ashes fell, the field remained in a constant state, clear enough for everyone to move around and fight.
The other half was covered in white snow. Just like its other half, the snow constantly fell like rain but could never fill the field.
The gray and white created a great contrast, making up the battlefield of the Supremacy Games.
As for the statues, the base and towers all had them at their top. The ash domain carried statues of a malevolent spider, while the snow domain carried statues of an eight-winged dragon.
So, one could also say that the fight was between Spider and Dragon. Or perhaps, they were meant to represent the First Participants.
"As you can see, this is the map where we'll fight. Who made it? How it works? Who were its first participants? Nobody knows the answer, but we've found a way to use it for our advantage, even though we don't understand it entirely. The only thing we understand properly is its rules, and that's enough for us."
Aegon explained calmly, as others listened carefully.
"First, we'll be given either of the two Domains: Snow or Ash Domain. Our task is quite simple. We just need to conquer the other domain, making a situation where only a single domain remains in the game. But there are several factors at play here."
He paused, pointing at the towers and then continued.
"These are turrets, meant to protect our base. If others try to harm them, they'll be attacked by enchanted arrows from these turrets. And don't think you can tank those arrows. It doesn't matter how strong you are because they damage in percentage."
"Wait! How much percentage again?" Elara asked.
"The turret farthest from base does 20%, so all it takes is five arrows to kill you. Turrets before it take three hits to kill you. The one before it takes a single hit, and base directly kills you upon contact. Of course, as this is Supremacy Games, you don't really die. You just return to the base to respawn."
Aegon replied, turning towards Elara who nodded in understanding.
Only then, he continued.
"There are ways to get past these troublesome turrets. Minions. Our base releases them at certain time intervals in all three lanes. Their only job is to attack other minions blocking them and then destroy the turrets. While the turrets attack minions, we destroy the turrets."
He smiled and pointed at the middle turret and said,
"It also lowers their attack power because the rules follow as I've said before. The farthest turret does 20% damage, meaning once this middle one, which would take three attacks, would then take five attacks. Similar stuff happens to the one before it once we destroy the two turrets."
Xavier rubbed his chin as he said,
"Meaning we can just clear a single lane and then conquer the base. I mean, it's possible in theory at least."
"It is possible," Aegon nodded in agreement. "But also quite foolish, since we'll be forced to do team fights in their territory. If the others keep the team busy, then it's possible. So let's keep this one in our strategy. Whether we use it or not depends on the team we'll face."
"I can escape its range fast, and Xav can provide healing too, so we can use that lane to push," Elara suggested.
"I'll remember that," Aegon said, glancing at Cali. "Because we can also do the work, so it'll depend on the enemy team."
"Understood!"
"Moving on. This diagonal is the neutral area where we don't receive debuff. But if we fight on the other's domain, we can get debuffed while they get a buff. Of course, the domain spreads its influence using turrets, so destroy them and the domain in that area vanishes."
"A stupid question probably, but what is debuff and buff?" Elara asked, scratching her cheeks in embarrassment.
"Huh? That's a surprise. I'm sure I talked about it whenever we played games," Aegon said in surprise.
"Not everyone has a perfect memory like you," Elara retorted.
Although he felt the situation was odd, her words also made sense. Who would remember these small details of their childhood?
Only Rosa had a glint in her eyes as she smirked at Elara's words.
"In any case, debuff means…"
