Aegon observed everything calmly, but the moment he saw the sinners, he had already decided to give them the worst death possible. He hated Demons to the core, not to mention those who betrayed their own kind.
'So pathetic! You really went for the most common method?' Aegon felt nothing but contempt toward the sinners.
As someone from the 21st century, Aegon was more than familiar with suicide bombers. After all, there were so many incidents where terrorists were brainwashed and sent on suicide missions.
If humans could do that to their own kind, what stopped Demons from using humans like that?
So he had put forward this suggestion earlier and let Kai create counter Rune Formations for such scenarios. He didn't think it would actually come to this, but he didn't want to take any risks.
Who knew the Demons would really choose this method just to send a message?
But he also understood how effective it was, as so many people exploding would create a mess that was extremely hard to deal with. Even if it were contained quickly, the results would still be in the Demons' favor.
This made him hate the Demons even more and look down on these people who accepted becoming suicide bombers.
Of course, he had considered the possibility of them being blackmailed, so he had mentioned it in the past. Amon had promised him that everything would be investigated thoroughly before any action was taken.
So he was certain these people had sold their souls to Demons for nothing but their own greed.
Even now, he could see that none of them felt shame for what they were about to do and even held pride in it.
Thus, he didn't think twice before deciding on their punishment.
"…Let the Dragon's Fire consume them."
Dragon's Fire was considered more dangerous than Phoenix Fire, mostly because Dragons still existed and people had proof of it. It wasn't a complete lie, which was enough for everyone to wish they would never experience Dragon's Fire.
Hearing that the sinners would receive it as punishment, the audience actually shouted in agreement.
Aegon's eyes turned toward Rovan as he commanded, "Bring Vhagar here."
"As you command, Young Master!" Rovan bowed his head before looking up. His eyes seemed to pierce through everything as he muttered, "Come!"
The Eternal Sanctum's front opened once again, this time wider, as the cloudy sky became visible. Piercing through those clouds like a giant spear was a Dragon. A giant crimson dragon.
It grew larger and larger, taking away everyone's breath as it landed on the God's Hand. It then lowered its giant, terrifying face toward the opening, its malevolent presence sending shivers down people's spines.
Vhagar growled, revealing its maw filled with jagged, blade-like teeth as its hot breath filled the Sanctum.
"Vhagar!" Rovan's voice made the Dragon shift its reptilian eyes toward him. He pointed at the central platform, where everyone else had withdrawn, leaving only the sinners behind.
As the Dragon turned toward the central platform, Rovan muttered only one word. A single word that made the air shimmer with radiance as the Dragon's maw snapped open.
"Zha'kkor!"
Inside Vhagar's mouth lay endless darkness, but crimson flames soon consumed that void, forming right at the center.
Then the mighty Dragon unleashed a torrent of crimson flames, instantly covering the entire central platform in a towering pillar of fire. Dragon Fire consumed the sinners before they could even properly express their despair.
As the whole world watched, the sinners' screams echoed everywhere, but no one felt any pity for them. Humanity had suffered too much under the Demons' onslaught to feel sympathy for traitors.
Soon, the screams died down as Vhagar closed his mouth. What remained on the central platform were only scorched marks; not even ashes of the sinners remained, as they had all died a horrific death.
Dragon's Fire also affected one's soul, so one could imagine the agony they were subjected to before even their souls vanished from existence.
The Solar religion believed in reincarnation, but that required a soul. The punishment of soul erasure was considered a fitting fate for sinners in their faith, so the people of the Great Solar Empire were satisfied with the outcome.
Many even cheered at their deaths, glad that the guardians protecting humanity were as strong as ever.
Meanwhile, Vhagar cast a long glance at Aegon, its mouth opening once again.
It made Aegon's lips twitch as he quickly understood Vhagar's thoughts. After repeated failures to burn him in the past, the Dragon perhaps believed its fire was useless against him.
But now that the fire had worked again, it seemed to want to try burning Aegon once more.
Fortunately, Rovan noticed the situation and sent firm orders to Vhagar. Reluctantly, the Dragon snorted before backing away. Then it soared high into the sky once again, revealing its massive figure to the entire world.
Back in the Eternal Sanctum, Amon waved his hand as the central platform returned to normal and the entrance closed once more.
Then he stepped onto the platform and said, "I also have another announcement for the Empire. We have achieved a great victory over the Demons recently, all thanks to Marshal Arthur Augustus."
As he became the center of attention, Arthur couldn't help but let out a dry laugh. Only he knew that the victory wasn't solely because of him.
Someone had cleared nearly half of the battlefield single-handedly, which allowed him to conquer the remaining demonic forces more efficiently.
His gaze shifted toward his father as he thought, 'What made you enter the battlefield again, Father?'
"Recently, he led the Gorilla Division to East Verogon and reclaimed the Dhingana District. It was lost during the Great War of Seismic, but it is ours once again."
The news made the audience cheer in excitement, as this was a major victory against the Demons.
"For those who don't know, this area will be redeveloped and turned into a new dukedom. Yes, it is that vast and resource-rich. You can rejoice, because this is truly a day worth celebrating."
Aegon heard the excited shouts around him and thought, 'A nice way to distract them from the grim truth. The truth that Demons once again managed to infiltrate deep into our territory, even turning a Duke to their side.'
