As far as Aegon was aware, Xiu didn't really have any romantic past. Given her personality, he wasn't even surprised, but things were different now.
Even if they didn't share that kind of relationship, he could see they definitely had some past together. And he was now immensely curious about it.
'Still, of all people, the prince himself? Woah!'
Xiu noticed his expression and said, "Before you make any wild theories, I'll let you know I don't love him or anything, neither did we share that kind of relationship. Do you really think someone like me can get into a relationship?"
Aegon nodded.
Xiu rolled her eyes and said, "Then you're wrong. I never had any interest in romance, and it's still true. This woman just has a creative brain which she uses for useless things."
"Don't insult my intelligence," Aurelia protested.
"Alright, I'll believe you," Aegon said. "Still, did anything happen between you two?"
"No," Xiu denied immediately. "We just spent some time together because of our circumstances. And he's one of the only decent people I found, so we shared a cordial relationship. Nothing more than that."
'If it was anyone else, I'd believe it, but not you, Xiu,' Aegon thought before nodding. "That's good. I'm happy that you at least have one good friend."
"Do I not count?" Aurelia felt offended.
"You're her sister, so you don't count," Aegon said, which somehow satisfied Aurelia. "And I'm really curious to meet him now."
"I've been curious," Nora asked. "Do you hate the Emperor?"
Xiu took the cue to answer that. "Little Sun has a weird relationship with him. As for Dad, they're war brothers in a way. As for me, I hate him. Truly hate him."
"Is that why you used 'bald freak' to address him?" Nora asked. "He's not bald, though."
Xiu smiled and turned towards Aegon. "Want to elaborate?"
Suppressing his laughter, Aegon answered, "For Xiu, he's an idiot with no brain, and a head without a brain is empty. An empty head is called bald. And freak is just because she wanted to use it."
Everyone was left speechless at her bullshit reasoning while she just laughed it off. As always, her naming sense was weird, just like her.
"So, I can look forward to training under him," Xavier said, smiling. "I won't be left behind by you all. Actually, I might even surpass everyone here."
"Dream less!" Cali quickly poured cold water on his thoughts.
Aegon just smiled, feeling happy for Xavier. Unlike others in his friend circle, he didn't really have comparable talent to reach greatness, but he had reached his current standing through sheer hard work.
He trained day and night, which also became the reason why he bathed less, since he trained even during that time. All because he didn't want to be left behind by his friends.
Aegon genuinely felt blessed to have such friends, so he was really happy to see him get a huge opportunity like this.
"Speaking of mentors, mine is right here," Cali chuckled and said. "Aunt, do I need to prepare extra for our training sessions?"
"All you need is a good mentality to train under me," Xiu answered nonchalantly. "That you already have, so now just be ready to get beaten a lot. I won't hold back just because you're my niece."
"Hehe, I'm looking forward to our training sessions then." Cali was more than happy to hear that. As for getting beaten up, she was already used to it.
"What about mine?" Rosa asked, still eating enthusiastically. "No disrespect, but can he train me?"
"Father is very versatile," Nora answered for that. "Our clan handles the stealth department of House Valeria, so he's very good for you. Though, I can't speak about his patience, since he loves perfection and will definitely push you."
"Small thing," Rosa said.
"I'm more worried about El," Aegon said, turning towards Elara, who had stayed mostly silent during breakfast. "I don't trust that old man. Not on this, at least."
"Hmm? Why?" Elara asked, finally breaking her silence.
"I don't know. He's always scheming something, so I'm sure even on this he has some ulterior motives," Aegon shrugged.
"You don't need to worry," Xiu said, waving her hand. "The Goblin knows that messing with her will ruin humanity's future, so at best he'll just try to get some advantages for his plan, nothing more. El will be safe and sound."
"I see," Aegon turned towards her and asked. "What about his training? I don't even know what he uses mainly. Surely not a bow."
"Meh, you can steal lots of knowledge from him. That's his only redeeming quality," Xiu said. "As for what he uses mainly, that's his monocles and mirrors in general. Reflections."
Aegon nodded in understanding and finished his breakfast. By then, the others were also done, so a maid took away the dishes and cleaned the table.
"I have a question," Cali said, raising her hand like a child. "For Gon and Sister Nora."
"I'll gladly answer as long as it's within my expertise," Nora smiled and said.
"It definitely is," Cali said. "Gon said he's immune to fire, but he was harmed by phoenix flames."
"Because they target souls," Nora answered. "And a Valerian's immunity lies in their body."
"But then, how is he immune to dragon flames?" Cali asked, still confused. "Don't they also affect souls?"
Her question instantly piqued everyone's interest. In the Supremacy Games, there was so much going on that they hadn't even realised this point.
Now that Cali pointed it out, they also became eager to learn.
Aegon popped a candy into his mouth and answered instead of Nora.
"Quite simple. Both phoenix flames and dragon flames work differently, even if they can produce similar effects. For that, though, you'll need to understand that there are three types of fire mainly."
"There are types of fire?" Cali asked, blinking.
Aegon paused, staring at her in amazement. He asked, "You didn't know?"
Cali scratched her cheek and turned towards Xiu. "Is that a problem if I don't know such stuff?"
"Not really. I'm still not clear on many things," Xiu said with a slight shrug. "In the end, what matters is whether you can beat all three types of flames or not."
