10x Rewards: Becoming Invincible With My Sign-in System

Chapter 245: Samuel's Promise

Aegon had to explain everything to Samuel, including his own guesses, so that he understood the gravity of the situation properly. He even added some of his theories to it.

There was a long pause after he finished, making him wonder whether Samuel was just too shocked to say anything or if he had simply disconnected.

In the next moment, the wall of his room rippled like the surface of water before Samuel emerged from it, wearing casual clothes with a round hat on top. His face held an unusual seriousness that surprised even Aegon.

"Hey, hey! Stop invading people's privacy," Aegon yelled at him. "Why are you summoning yourself out of nowhere?"

"It's my Empire, boy. I'll go wherever I want," Samuel snorted, as he took a seat without any change in expression.

"And this mansion belongs to Xiu," Aegon smiled and said. "I'll go tell her that you claimed it as yours."

Just as he moved to leave the room, Samuel stopped him.

"Stop right there! Don't you dare blackmail me with that," Samuel grunted. "Just take a seat and tell me all of it again."

Aegon rolled his eyes, but still did as he was told. Samuel listened to everything with full seriousness, and when Aegon finished, he had a strange look on his face.

"So, do you know anything?" Aegon asked. "What do the demons have that made even Grandma scared?"

"I honestly don't know," Samuel muttered. "I suspected it back then too, but didn't think much of it. I wasn't in the right state of mind at that time."

He sighed. "But I have a few guesses of my own now that Arnold visited the Nightmare Desert."

"You think the demons took something from the Divine Battlefield?" Aegon quickly connected the pieces and instantly felt the world pressing against his soul.

Samuel raised his hand and put it on Aegon's head, easing his pain and the pressure. Staring at him, he said, "Don't try to solve this mystery. If I'm even close to the truth, then this will prove fatal for you."

Aegon hated that he couldn't even solve the mysteries surrounding his grandmother's death, but he knew Samuel was right. If he tried to delve further into it, he would just uncover secrets that could collapse his soul completely.

He also realised something important.

'The Nightmare Desert is important for the world somehow, so its secrets are also forbidden. I really shouldn't get too deep into this, or else I'll die too.'

Aegon already valued his life too much to take such risks, and now that he knew his survival was directly connected to the lives of everyone, he held it even more dearly.

"Leave it to the adults," Samuel smiled and said. "And thanks for this information. It's really helpful. I'll transmit it to that old bones too. To be honest, it would help a lot if you joined us, but it's way too dangerous."

Aegon agreed with him.

"Besides, now that we know they're targeting the Valeria Bloodline, it's even more important to protect you," Samuel said. "Keep yourself out of harm's way, alright? I don't think you need protection, but tell me anytime you need it."

"Can you give me a better option than my Red Viel?" Aegon asked.

"I technically can, but they're important to me too," Samuel shrugged. "So just protect yourself with what you have. Actually, wait, let me check something."

With that, he stood up and put both of his hands on Aegon's shoulders. Then, he closed his eyes and examined Aegon's body down to the minutest details.

Aegon didn't stop him, as he trusted him and knew it was necessary.

After a while, Samuel withdrew and said, "You're all clear. I was afraid that the Assassin last time left some mark on you. It was quite suspicious that they'd check you like that for no reason."

"That's good." Aegon decided to change the subject so that his mind didn't wander back to his grandma's case. "By the way, I can still explore the world, right? Or do I need to put a stop to that?"

"To be honest, I would prefer if you went to Mount Cereberion and stayed there for a while," Samuel said honestly. "But I don't want to take away your freedom. So just take the Red Viel with you everywhere. They'll protect you well."

He paused, then raised his hand as a miniature white sun formed in his palm. He turned towards Aegon and said, "You can also accept this. If you're in danger, just think of me and I can use this to teleport instantly to your location."

"A Rank 9 as a bodyguard? Damn, I'm rich!" Aegon mumbled under his breath, but Samuel heard it and smacked his head before inserting the sun into his chest.

[Foreign substance detected!]

[Does Host want to expel it? Or destroy it?]

'Is it dangerous? What does it do?' he asked in curiosity.

[It means no harm. The only function of this substance is to send your location to its other end and connect through the spacetime curvature.]

'Then there's no need to purge it. It's actually helpful,' Aegon said.

"I'm leaving then," Samuel said. "There's too much work to do with this new information. I'll be busy in the next few days, so if you need something, just call Michael."

"Huh? I don't even know him, old man," Aegon argued. "And I don't have his information, so how can I contact him?"

"Relax! He knows you well. As for his information, give me your communication stone," Samuel took the stone, messed around with it for a few seconds, then threw it back to Aegon.

"Seems I'm really famous," Aegon mumbled.

"It's because of your cigarettes," Samuel said. "He loves them so much that he planned to steal my special edition. Can you believe that? He almost succeeded too."

Aegon was left speechless. It wasn't the first time he had heard about the special effects his cigarettes had on everyone. In fact, they were sold out in a matter of seconds every time a new batch was produced.

It was just a random thought at first, but who knew the people of this world would love them so much?

Of course, the cigarettes weren't the normal ones. He had made many changes so that they suited the people of this world, and they loved them way too much.

Still, the fact that the Emperor himself was obsessed with his cigarettes made him speechless. Now, it seemed like even the crown prince was addicted.

'What a bizarre world I live in.'

"Do you have some more?" Samuel asked, narrowing his eyes at him. "I need those to deal with everything that's been happening around me."

Aegon snorted in disdain. Anyone could see that the old man was just finding excuses to take more cigarettes from him since Aegon had put a limit on them.

Still, he was working on an important case for him, so Aegon took out a packet and tossed it towards him. "You better solve these mysteries quickly, old man."

"That'll take a while," Samuel replied. "But I can promise you that the demons won't succeed. Not this time."

"Thanks for that," Aegon smiled. "Be careful too. If my Grandma feared whatever lay within the demons, then even you need to be careful."

"The world has made sure I don't become arrogant just because I sit at this rank, boy," Samuel said confidently. "I know what I'm doing. You're the one who should take care of yourself."

"I will."

"Good luck on your project. Bye!"

"Bye bye!"

Samuel left the same way he came, which made Aegon envious as he couldn't do it. Worst of all, he couldn't even research a way to do that, as it would land him in a dangerous position against the world itself.

'Aghh! So much danger around us.'

Aegon shook his head and jumped headfirst onto the comfy bed. Lying on the soft bedsheet, he tried hard not to think about everything related to his grandmother.

'I need to focus somewhere else before I stumble onto something forbidden.'

He thought for a while before deciding to contact his friends. Taking out his communication stone, he first called Luna, and they talked for quite some time.

Apparently, she still visited the Academy as a mentor of House Freyja, since she had technically graduated with very good marks.

Her life was quite monotonous, but she liked it as she spent more time with her friends from the same house. She also informed Aegon of House Freyja's desire to see him there.

They wanted to learn more with him.

After promising her that he would visit soon after his project was completed, he called the second person, which was apparently Elara.
