Chapter 182: West Queen Mother Temple

"Queen Mother Ancestral Hall"—four bold black characters were engraved on a plaque with a golden base.

The overall tone presented a red hue, making the West Queen Mother Temple appear solemn and dignified, laid out right in front of him.

Looking at the three incense burners placed in front of the temple, many incense sticks were inserted, slowly burning and enveloped in a cloud of smoke, as if people still frequently came here to worship.

Wu Liang stepped forward, raised his hand, and exerted force.

Creaaaaak—

Wu Liang pushed open the heavy temple doors.

The imagined onslaught of dust did not appear, nor were there the baskets of bloody and eerie fruit that maids previously carried.

There was only a statue of the Queen Mother of the West draped in a colorful robe and entirely gilded, placed on the altar with an expression full of vitality, fresh fruit offerings placed before her.

Glancing around, the temple interior appeared clean and tidy, with no sign of anything amiss.

"Ha, they really picked a great spot for you, didn't they, soaking up the spiritual aura of the Celestial Pool of Tianshan, the essence of the sun and moon. Do you really think you're the Queen Mother of the West?"

Wu Liang took a fruit from the altar and bit into it with a crunch, sneering.

According to various books on mythology and metaphysics he had read before, the location of the West Queen Mother Temple was deliberately chosen for its Feng Shui.

Facing north, surrounded by mountains on three sides and water on one.

On the left is the Daoist Sacred Mountain, Bogda Peak, referred to as the Left Azure Dragon, and on the right, the waters flowing out of the Celestial Pool, referred to as the Right White Tiger, with the Celestial Pool below, ideal for storing wind and gathering energy.

Sadly, the one residing here nowadays is not the esteemed Queen Mother, but a true Fierce Ghost.

Feeding on human flesh and blood, reveling in the thrill of slaughter.

Bam—

Wu Liang, after finishing the fruit, suddenly leapt up and smashed a fist into the statue of the Queen Mother of the West. The originally gilded statue shattered like porcelain, revealing several stark white skeletons inside.

He then kicked the altar with a force that sent it splintering completely.

What seemed like a padauk altar, upon shattering, revealed itself to be constructed from bones inset within the wood.

The originally gilded surface of the dishes used for offerings, upon hitting the ground, revealed themselves to be made from the curved bones of human skull caps.

"Devouring others and using their remains to decorate the temple, how noble indeed!"

Wu Liang snarled maliciously.

An endless Mist emanated from him, enveloping the temple and continuously expanding upward.

Given that the West Queen Mother Temple had many years of history, it actually underwent several repairs and reconstructions over time.

Thus, near the Celestial Pool, on Wolong Mountain, there were actually several temples and halls.

Wu Liang aimed to force that Fierce Ghost out and find its hiding place!

Since the opponent chose to staunchly prevent him from approaching the West Queen Mother Temple instead of fleeing immediately,

That indicated it couldn't leave!

Perhaps leaving the West Queen Mother Temple would expose it to attacks from other Fierce Ghosts within the Celestial Pool, placing it in a dilemma.

"Vile creature! How dare you! Killing my maids and destroying my temple, do you even see the existence of gods in your eyes? Blasphemy against gods is a grave sin!"

Suddenly, a resonant female voice emanated from the highest level of the temple.

Then, a woman who in appearance was almost a replica of the earlier statue of the Queen Mother of the West walked out from inside.

Her robe was multicolored and more splendid than the earlier maids, Xu Feiqiong and Dong Shuangcheng, the golden hairpin on her head dazzling in the moonlight, surrounded by numerous Bright Pearls floating, like stars encircling the moon, enhancing her magnificence.

The entire West Queen Mother Temple seemed to gain a layer of brilliance with her appearance.

Wu Liang, upon seeing this, twisted his neck and withdrew the Mist he had spread.

Because he noticed that all the Mist dissipated inexplicably when approaching this woman.

It seemed she indeed differed from the Red-clothed Fierce Ghosts he exorcised during the day!

"Reverence for gods? I want to ask, where were the gods when great calamities struck? Where were the gods when people wailed and were slaughtered?"

"And when your Fierce Ghost maids were exorcised by me, where was their god then?"

Just as the words fell, Wu Liang instantly merged with the Kitchen Knife Ghost, transforming into a complete City-Destroying Level Fierce Ghost entity, appearing above the Queen Mother's head.

A glint of ferocity flashed in his eyes, his arms transforming into blades, slashing downwards, even causing a ten-meter-long crack in the ground with the residual force of the hand blade.

However, the formidable hand blade did not actually strike the Queen Mother of the West.

It halted steadily less than half a meter from her crown.

Wu Liang exerted force again but couldn't press further, as if something invisible in the air was obstructing his strike.

"They were my maids; dying for me was their blessing. As for the lives of those mortals you mentioned, what concern are they of mine?" The Queen Mother's voice was emotionless and cold.

With those words, a slight light flickered among those Bright Pearls, and Wu Liang instantly felt a chill, flying as Mist into the air to retreat.

Where he stood moments ago, there now formed an inky black circle, like a black hole from which no light could escape its draw.

Wu Liang had no doubt that if he hadn't dodged, he'd be missing limbs now.

"As expected, you've reached the threat level of City-Destroying, but... you're wounded!"

As the words fell, countless long threads formed by the surrounding Mist surrounded the Queen Mother in an instant, solidifying immediately.

The inexplicable resistance reappeared, forming a spherical barrier with a radius of about half a meter around the Queen Mother that the Mist threads couldn't penetrate.

The next second, the threads turned pitch black.

"Thunder Strike! Smite!"

With a cold voice, the electricity on the Mist threads instantly converged towards the center point.

Such a level of lightning strike had previously fried the Red Robe Level Flood Dragon Fierce Ghost in an instant. Even a City-Destroying Level Fierce Ghost would likely suffer minor injuries from this.

"Hmph! Mere tricks." The Queen Mother scoffed disdainfully.

With a flick of her sleeve, the entire sky's worth of lightning was absorbed into her sleeve, just like the legendary universe within a sleeve.

Yet this scene caused Wu Liang to grin broadly.

"Didn't you say mere tricks? Why did it bother you, the exalted deity, to lift a hand?"

"Let me guess, your barrier can't block intangible things, right?"

With that, a bolt of lightning instantly surged from the far end of the crack created by Wu Liang's hand blade on the ground, a trick he hid when releasing the Mist.

The lightning formed a white arc, shooting straight at her forehead during the moment the Queen Mother lowered her hand...

But after all, she was a City-Destroying Level Fierce Ghost, even if unable to raise her hand, she managed to dodge by tilting her head...

Boom–Psh—

The Queen Mother, feeling her forehead, found traces of golden paint on her hand.

In the instant the lightning exploded, the dispersed Mist turned into blades, grazing her forehead and injuring her.

Seeing this, Wu Liang began merging with the Nightmare, his entire body gradually transforming into a Spiritual Body.

Then his voice echoed across the midsection of Wolong Mountain, catching in every corner of the West Queen Mother Temple, delivering a biting remark—

"Tell me, can gods be injured too?"
