Chapter 267: Supernatural Ineffective? Interrogation Failed!

"Have you heard? There's a tough nut in the interrogation room! The locksmith has been inside for hours and hasn't come out yet!"

"Damn, seriously? Where did they catch this warrior who can last this long?"

"I don't know, I heard it's a girl."

"..."

Ever since Wu Liang brought Luo Fei back, people at this hideout have been discussing what kind of special ability the Black Swan might have.

Initially, only a small group of insiders were talking about it, while most people were busy with their own tasks and didn't care much.

After all, bringing back some special person for interrogation isn't a first-time occurrence, so everyone is kind of used to it.

But as time passed, and people realized it had been a good five or six hours, those previously disinterested started to gather and ask about the situation.

Especially a leading female member, who, upon hearing the people's discussions, expressed her puzzlement: "It shouldn't be! With the things the locksmith has, no human could withstand five hours without breaking!"

Her agitation was, of course, because those supernatural objects were crafted by her and handed over to the locksmith personally.

She was well aware of their effects.

Each item was initially made to test the limits of certain human wills.

For example, the feather of "Itch Torture" does not simply tickle; it makes every piece of skin, every pore, even the soul itch!

This level of itchiness could make a normal person dig out their heart to scratch it.

Then, the matchstick of "Branding Torture" gives the sensation of being burned by raging flames at all times; the towel of "Drowning Torture" fills the brain with a choking sensation even when breathing normally; the scalpel of "Beheading" conveys the pain of having the flesh cut all over the body...

Similar tools were just a part of what the locksmith had stored in his box.

Critically, every time the locksmith used them, he didn't aim to pry information out of his target, merely sought to destroy their reason and spirit.

Thus making it easier for the last supernatural object, known as "Meng Die," to read the brain's memory.

The woman simply couldn't fathom what kind of person could endure these extreme tortures for a full five hours.

"Let's wait. If the locksmith isn't out in another hour, you guys let me know, and I'll go check if those supernatural objects have lost their effects."

Saying that, the woman turned around and resumed her tasks.

Yet, her eyes couldn't help but reveal a glint of anticipation.

If there truly were a person who could withstand such torture, what a perfect research subject it would be! She could test numerous supernatural objects with unknown limits on her!

......

What nobody knew was that inside the interrogation room, the locksmith was already drenched in sweat.

"I'll ask again! What is your awakened ability? Did you have anything to do with the Monkey Zodiac's severance from the official forces?"

"My awakened ability is not eating makes me hungry! Mr. Hou wants to elope with me!"

"..."

The locksmith glanced at the supernatural objects he'd used, scattered across the table, each showing faint cracks.

This indicated that their powers had reached their peak and the objects themselves were nearing collapse.

However, Luo Fei, who was chained to the table, remained unaffected, babbling nonsensical words with a carefree attitude.

His hands trembled slightly.

Why?

Why did this girl seem utterly unaffected by the supernatural objects' effects, showing no change in expression regardless of what was used on her?

"Mr. Locksmith, do you have any other toys to give me to play with?" Puppet Ghost innocently asked.

Looking at those supernatural objects on the table, Puppet Ghost couldn't help but chuckle.

Burning by "Branding"? Asphyxiation from "Drowning"? Flesh slicing by "Beheading"?

Meaningless, for it was a Fierce Ghost!

It didn't need to breathe, nor did it have real flesh to feel slicing pain and burning. Even tortures aimed at soul pain had no effect on it.

After all, its Fierce Ghost form was still tucked away inside the Ghost Compendium!

Since ascending to City-Destroying Level Fierce Ghost, Puppet Ghost no longer needed to use its Fierce Ghost form directly for transformations.

Now it used a strand of yarn pulled from its body to transform into Luo Fei.

If Puppet Ghost weren't Wu Liang's Fierce Ghost minion, it could even create an entire city's worth of false replicas using its Fierce Ghost form in no time!

"Huff... huff... No way! There must be some method to deal with this demoness!"

The locksmith felt his emotions becoming unstable, fists clenched tight with veins bulging, and his eyes bloodshot and unable to calm down.

Finally, he turned his eyes to the only remaining item in the box.

It was a light blue butterfly encased in a glass jar, its patterns mesmerizing and seemingly entrancing at a glance.

"Use it! To hell with it! Just use it!"

With a gritted determination, the locksmith grabbed the glass jar, twisted the lid off, and crushed it against Puppet Ghost's forehead.

Crunch—

Just then, the interrogation room door opened, and a woman in a white lab coat walked in.

She curiously said, "Why isn't it done yet? Is there really someone who can endure..."

At that moment, she also noticed the Meng Die clamped onto Luo Fei's forehead, with Luo Fei who even greeted her with a smile, "Hello, are you here to bring me new toys?"

Immediately after speaking, the triangle-bound Luo Fei's eyes rolled back suddenly.

At that instant, the Meng Die inside the glass jar transformed into a spiritual body and burrowed into her brain.

"D-did it work?" the locksmith murmured incredulously.

The woman, intrigued by what had transpired, noticed the cracked supernatural objects on the table.

Meanwhile, inside Puppet Ghost's mental world, it watched the dazzling blue butterfly flitting around, searching for food to feast on, yet unable to find any semblance of a brain.

Puppet Ghost chuckled.

It could inherit the target's complete memory when assuming human form and could fabricate memories out of thin air.

In short, when the person is fake, the memories can be fake too.

Now, it simply needed to present Luo Fei's memory of its awakened ability being "unconditional amplification of any power" and fabricate part of the memory regarding the Monkey Zodiac's severance from the official forces.

Blend these two memories, and finally have the Meng Die consume them.

The Promised Land would receive the desired information and wouldn't suspect the Monkey Zodiac and officials of putting on an act.

After all, it was what they extracted from the interrogation...
