Ghost Compendium

Chapter 336: The Emperor Shi Who Breaks the Stalemate

"But I still can't tell exactly what you are, neither human nor ghost... Could it be that you already consider yourself a deity?" Wu Liang joked with the eternal emperor beside him.

Upon hearing these words, Emperor Shi's sharp, eagle-like demeanor suddenly dimmed greatly.

He shook his head and said, "I... also don't know what I am, but I am definitely not such filthy matter, nor am I an ordinary human body."

After finishing his statement, Emperor Shi astonishingly raised his right hand and struck his left arm fiercely right in front of Wu Liang.

The terrifying force was so powerful that it generated a strong sound of air being torn apart, and the collision between his hands was like a thunderclap, making a booming sound.

In the next second, Wu Liang suddenly saw some damage appearing on his arm.

Yet, no red blood flowed from the wound; instead, it displayed a bizarre, ink-black gel-like substance flowing within his skin and flesh.

In just a moment, the wound disappeared, and its self-healing capability was astonishing.

"Can you identify what this is inside me?" Emperor Shi's voice regained the initial majesty, showing no sign of discussing his own body.

This left Wu Liang stumped.

Even the eternal emperor didn't know what the ink-black gel-like substance was, so how could Wu Liang know?

If it were Supernatural Objects and Fierce Ghosts, he could refer to the Ghost Compendium.

But clearly, the gel-like substance was not that simple; it now, in some sense, replaced all of Emperor Shi's blood, circulating continuously within his body.

Thus, it's impossible to forcefully extract it for examination, because without the support of the gel-like substance, no one knows what could happen to Emperor Shi's body.

"Can't recognize it, but let me ask, Emperor, why are you telling me these things? We are neither relatives nor acquaintances, meeting for the first time. To put it harshly, it's lucky we haven't fought, so why treat me so sincerely?" Wu Liang frowned, puzzled.

The fact that he brought Wu Liang to the rooftop of the Apang Palace to discuss this matter indicated the need for secrecy, perhaps even that General of Qin inside the hall didn't know about it.

Emperor Shi didn't even speak to General of Qin nor inform Director Long whom he regarded as the future ruler, but instead shared the conversation with a nobody like him.

Isn't this too strange?

Initially, Wu Liang speculated that there could be two reasons why Emperor Shi might not be a Fierce Ghost:

First, the Ghost Compendium indeed couldn't find any information about a Great Qin Fierce Ghost, which was the most suspicious point. After all, Wu Liang had never seen the Ghost Compendium fail, as it is foundational to the world, there shouldn't be a problem.

Second, Wu Liang thought of a method by which a Fierce Ghost appears without being recorded in the Ghost Compendium—symbiosis!

Wild Fierce Ghosts are naturally recorded in the Ghost Compendium the moment they are observed, but Fierce Ghosts within the bodies of Symbionts wouldn't have recorded information.

Just like Director Long, Zodiac Rabbit, and Zodiac Sheep, Wu Liang couldn't obtain information about the Fierce Ghosts in them through the Ghost Compendium.

If this Emperor Shi was indeed like this.

Then wouldn't it explain why the Ghost Compendium hadn't detected any issues?

So before he split open his arm, Wu Liang initially thought that Emperor Shi was also a powerful Symbiont, perhaps due to some special circumstances leading him to see himself as the eternal emperor like the Queen Mother of the West and Corpse Concealing Ghost.

But the appearance of the ink-black gel shattered this theory.

The complete absence of blood on his body clearly wasn't achievable by a Symbiont, for it fundamentally altered the nature of humanity.

In this situation, Emperor Shi's reason for telling Wu Liang just became more abstract.

No way! Why would I know?

"No reason, it's just because you exude a familiar aura, seeming to have some connection with me. I thought you might know what this black gel is, but ignorance is also fine." Emperor Shi lightly laughed, placing his hand on Wu Liang's shoulder.

Swish—

Before Wu Liang could understand what the so-called familiar aura meant, the next moment, they both reappeared inside the hall.

Director Long and General of Qin displayed expressions of confusion, hoping to glean some clues from the two and understand where they had just disappeared to.

But Emperor Shi shifted his gaze back to Director Long and said, "The future is in trouble, I cannot stand idly by, you may lead fifty thousand Qin Army to resolve the crisis outside the hall."

"Huh? Are you serious?"

Director Long was stunned.

From his previous observation of the stone figure who merged General of Qin's bronze halberd into the stone pillar outside, the opponent must be at least of Peak Red Robe level, probably just a step away from City Destruction.

If these stone figures are to be seen as imperial guards, then ordinary stone figures would likely resemble regular Red Robes.

Fifty thousand Qin Army means fifty thousand Red Robes!

Director Long couldn't help but give Wu Liang a sidelong glance, feeling baffled by the eternal emperor whom he couldn't tell whether was friend or foe.

Hopefully, this fellow, after having whispered with him earlier, might have some insights.

"I thank the Emperor on behalf of Director Long, but may we boldly ask for a few more requests?" Wu Liang could sense Director Long's bewilderment.

This wasn't unusual, after all, he really didn't know the current Emperor Shi wasn't a Fierce Ghost.

Wu Liang was now even more intrigued by the secrets surrounding Emperor Shi, so he willingly agreed on behalf of Director Long, as with these stone figures, the nationwide predicaments could be greatly alleviated.
