Ghost Compendium

Chapter 350: In-Depth Research of the Ghost Compendium! (Part 2)

Wu Liang is just an ordinary man.

Yin Qiming had already determined this before the other had answered the question directly.

No matter how powerful and extraordinary he appeared, even the Pioneer was astounded by the scope of his abilities, but this couldn't erase the fact that he was merely an ordinary person!

"Wu Liang, I will stay by your side to discern why you possess such abilities and uncover what external force might shift your future."

"That must be a power capable of saving the world! I will make sure you harness it to the fullest!"

Yin Qiming smiled.

The smile was exactly the same as when he faced Wu Xiaoyao, his mentor, in the cave at the Tianshan Mountain Range, grinning out of curiosity and excitement for the mysteries of the Stone Slab.

It was free of any impurities, filled only with curiosity for the unknown and ecstatic joy in exploring mysteries.

The soul doesn't lie.

A person's essence is the same.

Back in the old world, he became the Pioneer to explore the ultimate mystery of the Stone Slab and save the world.

Now, he would also become the real Yin Qiming by exploring the origin of Wu Liang's abilities to save the world.

He would prove to the Pioneer that the other was just a madman after all, incapable of saving the world!

......

......

"Indeed, only a madman's thinking differs from the norm, and Mr. Shadow could conclude that an ordinary man is thus?" Zeng Hu cursed as he walked into the Human Ancestor Temple.

He just happened to see Wu Liang sitting at the desk making a strange gesture.

It was akin to examining something in his hand or flipping through a book, observing intently without any neglect.

Yet, strangely enough, he had nothing in his hands!

He was there making strange gestures as if gazing at air.

"Uh... Mr. Shadow? What are you doing?" Zeng Hu leaned over to observe closely.

No matter what, he couldn't figure out what Wu Liang was flipping through.

He couldn't help but suspect whether the other had a slight mental lapse.

After all, hearing the previous conversation between the Pioneer and Wu Liang, it seemed like he had hidden Yin Qiming's soul within his own.

Could the madness from that lunatic outside have spread to Mr. Shadow!?

"Nothing, you should go out first, continue honing your abilities with the Emotion Ghost, and if any City-annihilating Ghost comes to eat you, let that old man at the door deal with it."

Wu Liang said without lifting his head.

His hand was flipping through the Ghost Compendium faster and faster, with countless Fierce Ghost information flashing before his eyes, but seemingly not what he wanted to see.

Zeng Hu shivered at those words.

He understood why those City-Destroying Level Fierce Ghosts were here.

After consuming that Immortality Elixir a few days ago, he would emit the same scent as the elixir, acting as bait until its effects were completely digested.

To Fierce Ghosts, if the scent matched, it didn't matter whether he was a person or an elixir, they would consume regardless.

Now, it seemed like there would be a lengthy time before the effect was digested, meaning many different City-Destroying Level Fierce Ghosts would undoubtedly come!

"What if... if he doesn't help?" he stuttered.

It's wrong to curse someone a lunatic and then seek their help immediately, right!?

Wu Liang impatiently waved his hand: "Don't worry, he will help, because he also wishes to study the Immortal Pill of Undying within you, so he won't let you be eaten."

The next moment, Zeng Hu suddenly found himself outside the Human Ancestor Temple.

Squeak—

A strand of Mist seamlessly shut the temple doors completely.

Soon, the face that had become somewhat of a shadow in his mind appeared nearby.

Yin Qiming smiled and said: "Thrown out? Is there anything I can assist you with? Perhaps—dissecting human tissues, I studied medicine, quite adept at this."

"..."

Zeng Hu looked back desperately at the closed doors of the Human Ancestor Temple.

Mr. Shadow! Help me!

This guy must be a lunatic!

Yet Wu Liang was naturally too busy to heed his inner cries, as he was occupied with a more important task.

Having finally flipped through every page of the Ghost Compendium, he reached the pages once used to count down to the end of the Supernatural Calamity, and his gaze flickered slightly.

Now that the second Supernatural Calamity had descended, the countdown had naturally disappeared.

Looking at these blank pages, his face grew serious.

After taking a deep breath, he folded the page down again before reopening it—

It was still blank.

But at this moment, Wu Liang resembled a stubborn ox trapped in a corner but determined to breach through the wall, continuing the repetitive action.

He kept rotating the last blank page back and forth, opened, closed, and opened again.

This robotic action went on for a full two hours, his speed ever-increasing, and with his unmatched physical qualities, the entire Ghost Compendium rustled like a fan being whirled around.

If it were a regular book, it might have been torn apart from the flipping, but unfortunately, this was the Ghost Compendium.

Huff—

Upon his latest examination, Wu Liang seemed in his daze to perceive some characters floating across the blank pages.

But on close inspection, it was still blank.

It felt as if the characters were mere hallucinations of his, not truly existing.

Yet, these dazed characters caused a contented smile to stretch across Wu Liang's face.

He couldn't help but close the Ghost Compendium and stroke its ancient cover, the embossed golden pattern felt incredibly real to touch, as if the book genuinely existed in reality to be picked up.

"Ghost Compendium... you possess your own consciousness, right? Or could it be that you're awakening—or have fused with my awareness?" Wu Liang murmured to himself.

His seeming mania, however, obtained no reaction from the Ghost Compendium in his hand.

After all, it was just a book with no logical reason to react.

However, Wu Liang disregarded all this, merely continuing to speak to the Ghost Compendium as if talking to himself: "Since the Fierce Dragon Ghost consumed my blood and ascended to City Destroying Level, I've been pondering."

"In theory, you're the one exerting your powers like Yin Qiming said—essentially, I'm still an ordinary person!"

"Perhaps I would've died early in the Supernatural Calamity of the old world; as such an ordinary person, why can I assist Fierce Ghosts in ascending?"

"Thinking it over seems to point to only one possibility—you exist not just within my mind but continuously merge with me, correct?"

Upon finishing, Wu Liang's hand ceased its movement over the cover's script.

Then he gestured toward the edge of the temple offering table for the nearby glass.

His body no longer essentially required water, something Zeng Hu used for hydration during his ability control training here.

A strand of Mist gently delivered the glass to Wu Liang's hand.

Gurgle gurgle—

The next moment, water molecules formed usable water in the air streaming into the glass.

Wu Liang squinted as though swirling a wine glass, jostling the water cup playfully: "Creating drinkable water by modifying reality is quite the extravagant waste indeed."

"But back when I just unlocked this ability, even crafting such a cup without altering the world's line advancement, though not exhausting, would drain my Spiritual Power, right?"

"Yet now, it doesn't."

"I confirmed my mental state just now, it's not due to negligible consumption but an actual absence of any drain."

"In a sense, I can already articulate and make real."

"Ghost Compendium, what are you aiming for?"

"Do you intend to create gods?"

"Am I your chosen, preposterous avatar of divinity..."
