Ghost Compendium

Chapter 363: Racing All the Way!

Along the way, countless innocent Fierce Ghosts and Residual Thoughts were completely obliterated by the angry lightning, merely because they didn't have time to avoid Wu Liang. Once he leaped over them, they were struck and their souls scattered.

"Puppet, head to the right; see you in Great Qin," Wu Liang said expressionlessly.

Then, in a state of utter bewilderment, the Puppet Ghost was mercilessly hurled backward to the right from Wu Liang's embrace.

Yet, with years of seamless cooperation, the Puppet Ghost immediately understood what its boss meant.

In the moment it touched the ground, it transformed into a familiar figure—Wu Ming appeared!

In the next instant, a matching black trench coat and hood manifested on the transformed Wu Ming.

The person and ghost quickly moved in two different directions.

This left the infinite thunder trailing behind Wu Liang somewhat bewildered.

Even with Zeus's Great Venerable level of perception, it couldn't detect any significant difference in the auras between the two Wu Liangs, as if they had truly split and were escaping in different directions.

"Damn it! Kill them both! That bastard!" Zeus cursed uncontrollably in rage.

Immediately, more gathered clouds formed a second infinite thunder to pursue the direction of the Puppet Ghost.

Yet, maintaining such intense thunder while multitasking significantly weakened Zeus's control over both sides!

Seeing the second infinite thunder forming, Wu Liang smiled while summoning a vast area of mist to envelop himself.

The Puppet Ghost, in a seeming telepathy, deployed its mist simultaneously.

In an instant, two surges of mist, almost blotting out the sky, swept over like waves from the sea, completely covering the edge cities with an unstoppable force.

One city, two cities, five cities, ten cities...

More and more cities were enveloped by the mist, while Wu Liang's figure darted through the boundless mist and various cities.

The surrounding cities' lords fell into chaos.

After all, today was the first day after the end of the War of Chaos.

Logically, it should have been the most peaceful day; the end of the War of Chaos meant that other newly established lords and neighboring territories could no longer act against them.

Many cities that withstood a month-long assault and successfully defended their territories had already started jubilantly celebrating; newly established lords who successfully seized land were eager to announce their arrival to other ghosts.

Amidst this atmosphere of relief and celebration, the sudden appearance of the mist engulfed them all.

The most terrifying aspect was the force behind the mist that seemed capable of destroying everything.

In haste, exploring ghosts spread out to gather information.

They all wanted to know who dared to do such a thing on the very first day after the War of Chaos ended!

Facing the infinite thunder behind the mist, they showed little retreat.

After all, the regulations and constraints of the War of Chaos were imprinted in the hearts of every Fierce Ghost.

They believed that the Five Great Venerables wouldn't ignore the existence of such force capable of destroying cities after the War of Chaos ended!

However, they couldn't have imagined that the power they couldn't comprehend was derived from one of the Five Great Venerables, Zeus!

"That damned bastard! How dare he!" Zeus was now fuming within the clouds.

It had realized Wu Liang's intentions.

The presence of the mist affected its ability to accurately pinpoint the position, only revealing the general direction.

If this were in the suburbs, Zeus could naturally let the thunder cover a large area.

But now, ghosts from various cities came out to investigate. If he indiscriminately let the thunder cover them, the casualties would be immense!

Although Zeus didn't deem the red-clothed Fierce Ghosts or Residual Thoughts significant, seeing them as no different from bugs on the roadside.

However, other Venerables surely wouldn't allow a massacre to unfold!

Should Zeus, as one of the Five Great Venerables managing the War of Chaos, personally break the covenant, this battle, sustained for countless years almost like a world's law, would become a joke.

Should it come to this, perhaps soon, lords would no longer adhere to the ongoing War of Chaos, even fighting vigorously during ceasefire periods.

It wouldn't take long for the entire Fierce Ghost World to return to the chaotic state it once was.

Corpses would be strewn everywhere, blood flowing like a river.

Aside from slaughter, the world's development would once again stagnate!

This was certainly not a scenario the other Venerables wanted to see.

Also, Poseidon was no longer covering for him; the First Emperor and the other two Great Venerables might monitor him at any time.

They said nothing regarding the chase against Wu Liang, as it was a grudge between Venerables.

Even if a few ordinary ghosts were occasionally affected, they wouldn't say much, knowing that such collateral damage was inevitable in a chase between Venerables.

But causing a series of city destructions and letting many ghosts witness the massacre would be a different matter.

"Using so many ghosts as shields, do you not feel ashamed as a Venerable?" Zeus's voice, like rolling thunder, echoed in the mist.

In its view, Venerables were internally strong, incapable of comprehending the laws of the world without absolute confidence and pride.

Using these weak ghosts for protection, it would rather die!

Now, what Zeus needed was for Wu Liang to respond, even just one word! Zeus could then precisely lock in his position and blast him without affecting the surrounding ghosts!

This was Zeus's absolute control over his power as a Great Venerable!

"..."

Unexpectedly, though, its provocation received no response.

Even the other Great Venerables in hiding, observing the battle, were startled.

Could there truly be a newly established Venerable with such restraint?

What they didn't know was that Wu Liang was no Fierce Ghost.

He didn't possess that ingrained dignity, just as the Magic Cube Dragon felt no oppressive presence of a Venerable before Wu Liang. Using weak ghosts as a shield bore him no psychological burden.

"Come on! Only those who are alive have the right to speak of dignity!"

"That idiot up there has been practicing for god knows how many years. Embarrassing himself by chasing down a newly established Destruction of the Country, and he talks about dignity? Where is his dignity?"

"If I had practiced for as many years, wouldn't killing him be as easy as squashing a bug?"

As Wu Liang dashed between the mist-covered cities, he constantly grumbled in his heart.

Does this old undying bastard have no shame using provocation? Is he not embarrassed?

On the other hand, the Puppet Ghost made a similar choice, even lifting a gigantic ordinary ghost as a shield overhead, heading wildly toward Great Qin in such a bizarre manner.

Unlike Wu Liang, the Puppet Ghost was indeed a Fierce Ghost, just shamelessly brazen.

Dignity? Such a thing was less meaningful to the Puppet Ghost than a full meal.

Zeus's provocation was as insignificant as a fart to it.

As the Puppet Ghost and Wu Liang surged forward, the cities engulfed in their mist multiplied, causing Zeus to withdraw all the subsequent infinite thunder.

Faced with Wu Liang's shameless response, even in the position of one of the Five Great Venerables, Zeus found it challenging to handle.

Zeus was burdened with too many constraints.

Too many Venerables, including other Great Venerables, were watching for it to make a mistake and face punishment.

"Consider yourself lucky... Hope you can hide beneath these cities forever, pray I don't catch a chance!"

Zeus's vicious threat echoed across the sky.

Immediately, all ghosts on the ground distinctly felt as if an unseen eye was monitoring them from above, seemingly searching for an opportunity to unleash its wrath...
