Chapter 364: Great Qin! (Part 2)

Unexpectedly, when I saw the patrol team, they gave me a feeling similar to when I first encountered the Great Qin Army at Apang Palace.

It's somewhat incredible; why would the First Emperor of this world manage military affairs?

Clearly, in a world that respects strength, no ghost would dare lay a hand on Great Qin!

In every Fierce Ghost City, the City Lord guards the city with absolute strength, yet Great Qin, like a modern nation, has developed a militarized management system with troops and other things that shouldn't exist here.

"Let's go in using our identities as envoys of Dragon City. This should do the trick," Wu Liang said with a smile, taking out a bronze token with a hint of Spatial Power from his pocket.

This was something Magic Cube Dragon gave him before leaving. The token itself was a trust token granted by the First Emperor, and the attached Spatial Power indicated that the token wasn't taken by Wu Liang but was personally handed to him by Magic Cube Dragon.

Arriving at the city gate, the Guard Army at the border immediately cast sharp glances his way.

Generally, it's rare for masterless Fierce Ghosts to come to Great Qin for refuge, as obtaining entry qualifications is quite difficult, and the inspection process is so tedious it makes one's head throb.

"Halt! State your purpose!" An Armored Fierce Ghost, taller than the surrounding soldiers, stepped forward.

Seeing this, Wu Liang didn't say much; he simply stated, "I'm here to see the First Emperor," then displayed the token in his hand.

The Armored Fierce Ghost frowned as it took the token.

It couldn't fathom why anyone would come to see the First Emperor right after the War of Chaos had ended.

Could it be another report of some irregularity during the War of Chaos?

There had been such instances before, where some Venerables couldn't help but step in to protect cities they once shielded, causing territories that could have been successfully conquered by new Lords to slip away.

Most were caught and stopped early on, but occasionally some would slip through the cracks.

Upon receiving a report, the First Emperor usually wouldn't personally intervene.

After all, there are quite a few Venerable-level beings in Great Qin who would investigate and then issue penalties to maintain the order of the War of Chaos.

"Speak, whom are you reporting regarding the Venerable... Hmm? Wait, this token!"

Just as the Armored Fierce Ghost was performing routine duties, it suddenly noticed that the token in its hand was different from the usual report tokens.

The usual report tokens are engraved with a Black Dragon, but this token has no less than nine Black Dragons!

"Greetings, Your Excellency! Please take back your token and follow me into the city!" The Armored Fierce Ghost's tone suddenly turned respectful, even kneeling on one knee while holding up the token above its head, waiting for Wu Liang to retrieve it.

Frowning at the sight, Wu Liang slowly took back the token.

This Magic Cube Dragon only mentioned that having the token would ensure a meeting with the First Emperor, but it never explained that the token represented a Great Qin Venerable of the First Emperor!

What was even more puzzling was that the token originally belonged to Magic Cube Dragon.

How could a Lord possess a Venerable token? The relationship between the First Emperor and Magic Cube Dragon might not be as simple as a boss-subordinate dynamic, could it?

Soon after, the Armored Fierce Ghost led out a horse with both eyes burning with ghostly green fire, its head almost entirely skeletal, lowly growling and half-kneeling, waiting for Wu Liang to mount.

With the earlier questions in mind, Wu Liang mounted the horse, and the Armored Fierce Ghost took on the role of his equerry, leading the reins into the city.

This impressive display caught the curiosity of the surrounding Guard Army.

Every Guard Army member who saw Wu Liang riding the horse slightly lowered their heads, expressing their respect.

He now resembled a king inspecting his land, slowly circling the city.

"Isn't this entourage a bit too grand? Can't we discreetly see the First Emperor?" Wu Liang asked in a low voice, turning his head to the Armored Fierce Ghost beside him.

The other party responded with a puzzled expression, "Why would you say that, Your Excellency? Upon entering the city with a token, the first duty is to patrol the city to demonstrate the prestige of our Great Qin Venerables! It's always been this way."

"..."

Alright, alright, Venerables are incredible, aren't they?

After a moment of silence, Wu Liang stated sternly, "I have urgent matters to report to the First Emperor; it's important and can't wait."

Upon hearing this, the Armored Fierce Ghost's expression changed, loudly commanding, "Clear the way for the Venerable! Escort the Venerable to the palace!"

Saying that, it gave the reins a forceful tug.

The ghostly horse beneath Wu Liang neighed and charged forward, instantly darting to the end of the road.

Just as it seemed they would crash into the city wall, the surroundings suddenly changed, and in the blink of an eye, the horse appeared outside a familiar and grand palace.

Yet, the ghostly horse's charge didn't stop, rushing straight toward the city gates.

Smack—

Suddenly, the reins were seized by a Fierce Ghost stationed at the palace gates, who whispered softly into the ghostly horse's ear, "No loud noises in Apang Palace, be quiet."

In an instant, the once uncontrollable ghostly horse, capable of running thousands of meters in a flash, obediently stomped its hooves in place, then quietly lay down, waiting for Wu Liang to dismount.

The Fierce Ghost who subdued it was dressed in the attire of the palace's eunuch, respectfully approaching Wu Liang and bowing, "Your Excellency, the First Emperor is awaiting you in the main hall."

"Hmm? The First Emperor... knew I was coming to see him?"

Wu Liang raised an eyebrow and questioned, then followed the eunuch Fierce Ghost into the slowly opening Apang Palace.

I must admit, the Apang Palace in these two worlds is almost identical. From the moment of entry, Wu Liang already knew where the main hall was located.

Especially after passing through that dazzling corridor, the scene of General Bai Qi leading him and Director Long into Apang Palace reappeared in Wu Liang's mind.

So similar... how could it be this similar?

"Of course, Your Excellency made quite a stir outside the city. Your reputation has spread throughout the palace! Toying with Zeus the Great Venerable! In all the years of the Ghost Origin Era, you are the first new Venerable to achieve such a feat!" The eunuch's eyes shone with deep respect and admiration.

Wu Liang was left dumbfounded by these words.

In his words, the Ghost Origin Era is the chronological method of the Fierce Ghost World, now in the year 3997, also jointly issued by the Five Great Venerables.

Indeed, it was the first time in these many years that Zeus had been provoked to this extent.

Yet Wu Liang hadn't expected that news of his actions would spread so quickly!

"Uhm... to say it was toying is a bit exaggerated; no need to brag like that." Wu Liang awkwardly scratched the back of his head.

Toying with Zeus?

If not for a multitude of Fierce Ghosts in his territories acting as shields, he might have been struck to ashes upon reaching Great Qin's border!

Resorting to such ignoble methods is one thing, but others taking pride in it before him is quite another.

"You are truly modest, please enter, Your Excellency. I shall take my leave." The eunuch complimented Wu Liang again with a smile, then bowed and retreated.

At this moment, Wu Liang turned to see the palace's doors had already opened without him noticing.

Inside the main hall, just like entering the real-world Apang Palace earlier, there were no guards or defenses, only slightly blurred Stone Warrior sculptures on the surrounding columns.

Among them, Wu Liang even spotted a familiar Stone Warrior—General Bai Qi!

Sitting on the dragon throne at the top of the main hall was a man with a resemblance to the First Emperor from reality.

However, on his head was a peculiar black halo, rotating slowly and steadily, resembling the halo worn by Western angels, only ink-black.

Most noteworthy was the stone tablet in his hand that Wu Liang was exceedingly familiar with.

How did this end up in his possession!

The moment Wu Liang entered, the First Emperor's hawk-like sharp gaze slowly lifted from the stone tablet, staring at Wu Liang intently for a full ten seconds.

Then the First Emperor finally spoke, "Human? How do you exist here? This is not a place you should be."

Wu Liang: "!?"
