A Core Ship From The Start

Chapter 1418: Fully Armed!

During the next few days, Duanmu Huai and others remained in the hot spring hotel, idly passing the time. Although everyone managed to suppress their inner unease initially, as the days went by, they began to feel increasingly anxious.

"The storm is starting to die down. It should completely calm down by tomorrow or the day after."

"People from the main island should come to check on the situation, right? What should we say?"

While eating breakfast, everyone discussed this topic. After all, the entire village's population had died, with only a dozen people in the hotel surviving. If this news spread, it would undoubtedly become a sensational headline.

Meijia appeared troubled for obvious reasons. With the situation escalating to this point, the island would definitely be on total lockdown. This means the White Sail Group's investment here has gone down the drain...

"I'm really sorry, Shajuye. If I had known this, I wouldn't have involved you and Mr. Duanmu..."

"It's okay, Meijia, we're friends after all."

Seeing Meijia's dispirited demeanor, Shajuye could only offer consolation.

"Besides, you're still safe and sound, aren't you? Isn't that enough?"

"You're right..."

Meijia agreed with Shajuye. If she hadn't invited Shajuye and Duanmu Huai, she might have already been dead relying on herself alone. And when a person is dead, naturally nothing else matters. Comparatively, the White Sail Group's wasted investment—who's to say it won't be recovered someday?

"But, will anyone really come to rescue us?"

At that moment, Medea unexpectedly interrupted.

"Huh? Miss Medea? Why do you say that?"

"Because it's possible that the entire world has been affected. If that's the case, it would be normal if no one comes to rescue us."

"......…"

"......…"

Upon hearing Medea's remarks, everyone fell silent. They had seen the village's tragic sight, and to this point, no one had figured out what truly happened. Instinctively, they considered it a village-specific incident.

But... what if this was a disaster engulfing the entire world?

The entire world, completely destroyed?

Thinking of this, they all felt a chill, and Alice Phil shook her head helplessly.

"Come on, Medea, don't scare them..."

"Huh? But all the stories the master told us ended like that, didn't they?"

"Uh......…"

Listening to Medea's response, Duanmu Huai was momentarily speechless. Indeed, this was the true world of Cthulhu, and given its nature, as Medea mentioned, when they return to the main island after much struggle, they might truly witness the devastation of the entire world... you couldn't rule out the possibility!

After all, it's rather typical of Cthulhu.

"Alright, alright, talking about this now won't change anything. Let's wait until the typhoon passes."

Duanmu Huai decisively interrupted the increasingly tense atmosphere.

"No matter what, we're still alive, aren't we?"

Duanmu Huai wasn't entirely sure if the world would end up like that, given the uncertainty of such matters. A Cthulhu campaign turning into a post-apocalyptic wasteland?

Such a leap would be quite absurd, wouldn't it?

However, suddenly Alice Phil's body stiffened, and she looked at Duanmu Huai.

"We have invaders! Many!"

"What?"

Upon hearing Alice Phil, Duanmu Huai immediately frowned. Over the past few days, Alice Phil and Medea's mist barrier had surrounded the hotel's perimeter, allowing them to immediately detect any intrusion. Previously, the zombies wandered within the village without heading this way. Those zombies who accidentally stumbled here were taken out by Duanmu Huai's shadow subordinates.

If that were all, Alice Phil wouldn't have reported it, but she was now saying there were many...

"Looks like they're ready to show their hand."

Duanmu Huai stood up, stretching his neck.

"Shajuye, take Medea, Meijia, and the others to the basement to take shelter, and seal off the hotel."

"Okay, brother."

Despite her confusion, Shajuye obediently nodded in response to Duanmu Huai's instructions, then led the visibly anxious Meijia and Medea away from the dining hall to rendezvous with the other survivors on the first floor. Fortunately, to block the zombies, the doors and windows downstairs were shut tight with rolling shutters, and the survivors, forming patrol teams, were likely eating at the moment, making them easy to find.

"The rest of you, follow me; it's time for battle!"

The group reacted swiftly, and soon all the survivors, under Shajuye, Meijia, and Medea's command, took shelter in the underground storage area. Meanwhile, the hotel was sealed once again, with only Duanmu Huai, Alice Phil, Mianmu Zuoniao, and Inaba Tsukuyo standing in the main entrance plaza of the hotel, focusing on the road ahead.

At this point, Duanmu Huai had donned the Judge's power armor once again, and Alice Phil was combat-ready. Mianmu Zuoniao held the white wooden sword, sitting on a nearby chair, humming a tune and swinging her legs excitedly. As for Inaba Tsukuyo, she clutched her longsword, sitting quietly beside him, eyes closed and silent.
