Kuse Daisaku stood at the doorway, staring blankly at the empty room before him. No secret chambers, no other doors, just a single white rectangular space illuminated by the light. Yet, there was nothing there, as if they had never existed — even his subordinates seemed like that.
"...… Ha ah...… Ha ah...… "
The feeling of being watched became increasingly apparent to Kuse Daisaku; he could even feel the gaze behind him, staring at him. He turned his head in terror to look back, and then...…
There was no gas station.
Nothing at all, only a stretch of street lay before him, with the silent houses standing like tombstones around, and the vehicles they arrived in had vanished. When Kuse Daisaku looked back, the room was also gone, leaving nothing but the street in front of and behind him. He was standing in the middle of it, with only the glow of streetlights on each side.
"Who is it? Who the hell is messing with me?!"
Kuse Daisaku's body began to tremble, filled with anger and fear. He had no idea why this was happening—was it just hallucinations from drinking too much? Or was it all a dream, a nightmare? Would he wake up to find himself sleeping in the car?
"Come out, damn it, come out!!"
He spun around on the street, shouting loudly, but no one responded. However, the feeling of being watched grew more intense. It was as if several people were staring at him from behind, yet as he turned to look, not a soul could be seen.
"Damn it...… I told you to get out!"
Kuse Daisaku, fueled by rage and malevolence, picked up a stone from the ground and hurled it forcefully at the window of a nearby building!
"Crash!!"
The stone shattered the window with a loud noise, yet not a person appeared, and all the surrounding windows remained pitch black. But the feeling of being watched became even stronger.
"Mad, get out! Get out! GET OUT!"
Kuse Daisaku roared, grabbing stone after stone and demolishing the windows of the surrounding buildings into shards. For a moment, the entire street was filled with the noise of breaking glass, creating a strange commotion.
Yet, it did little to soothe Kuse Daisaku. The gazes felt more intense, more numerous, as if he was being watched by countless people, yet he couldn't find a trace of anyone!
Mmm?
As he reached out to pick up another stone, he suddenly saw a large bump on the back of his hand, as if bitten by something.
Kuse Daisaku raised his right hand in confusion, staring at the back of his hand, and under his gaze, the bump slowly split open. Then, an eye emerged from it, staring fixedly at him!
At this moment, he also felt that as the eye on the back of his hand opened, that intense gaze focused onto his hand.
"Hahaha, so that's how it is, that's how it is...!"
Kuse Daisaku seemed to finally realize the problem, laughing wildly as he grabbed and tore off his clothes viciously. Only now did he notice similar bumps bulging on his chest, shoulders, arms—every part of his body swelling like mosquito bites, bursting open to reveal countless eyes moving side to side!
"Don't look, don't look at me! You bastards!!"
Screaming, he extended his other hand, drew a short knife from his waist, and drove it into the swollen eye on the back of his hand!
The sharp knife plunged directly into Kuse Daisaku's hand, stabbing into the gap of that eye!
"Aaaaaaaah!!"
The excruciating pain made him scream, yet he continued, fiercely gouging out the swollen eye from the back of his hand!
With the removal of the eye, Kuse Daisaku could feel the gaze focused on his left hand disappear.
"Hahaha, I see, I see...…"
He stumbled to his feet, clutching the knife once more and aiming it at his body.
"You...… none of you are allowed to look at me! Die!!"
Screaming his wrath, he raised the knife high, plunging it vehemently into his flesh!!
"Aaaaaaaaah!!!"
A terrible, almost inhuman scream echoed across the dead street. Kuse Daisaku had gone mad, frantically swinging the knife to scrape off the swollen eyes from his body. Blood streamed down as he slashed his robust body to ribbons. It was all in vain; as soon as he severed an eye, another mushroomed from the festering wound.
Soon, more and more eyes grew larger and larger, and Kuse Daisaku's movements slowed until he could no longer hold on, collapsing backward onto the pavement.
"Ha ah...… Ha ah...…"
Now, Kuse Daisaku looked nothing like a human, with eyes popping up like herpes or mushrooms on every inch of his body. Even his finger joints bulged with lumps, eyes within endlessly blinking, displaying their existence.
"What on earth is...…"
He stared blankly at the sky, looking at the yellow moon in the night sky — then he saw the yellow moon vanish into the night, only to reappear.
"...…?"
Kuse Daisaku blinked, fixed his gaze again, and finally understood.
The object suspended in the sky wasn't a moon but a yellow eye, and the black around it wasn't night but an eyelid!
This gigantic eye was fixed firmly upon him from high above!
"Hahaha, hahaha, hahahaha...…"
At this moment, Kuse Daisaku finally understood.
Laughing loudly, he raised the knife to his own eyes.
As long as I can't see, as long as I can't see...… I can't see them!!
And with that, the blood-covered knife plunged straight into Kuse Daisaku's eye socket.
