For Duanmu Huai, this truly was a long journey.
After all, following the defeat of an unexpected enemy, Duanmu Huai was forced into a fierce battle with the Star God fragments, and as a result, was influenced by that group of Subspace Evil Gods. He traversed to the 40,000-year Empire, where he experienced the Spaceship Wreck, went to Cadia to crush Abaddon (↑) the Despoiler's (→) 13th Black Crusade, and met once more with Kiriman, who had slumbered for 10,000 years. Then, on his way to Holy Terra, Duanmu Huai encountered a Magic Pony—which, being as foolish as ever, didn't even wait for Duanmu Huai to act before seeing through his true nature due to passing inspiration. Consequently, it completely collapsed in the presence of the Ancient Dominator's glory.
It was precisely because of this unbelievably foolish idiot that Duanmu Huai had to start the Ancient Dominator's enhancement quest, leading to a journey that even he found long.
But fortunately, it's all finally over, and now, he can return to the battlefield he's familiar with and do what he's best at!
"Sir Knight, are you alright?"
"Mr. Duanmu, are you okay?"
Upon returning to the Tribunal, the girls immediately surrounded Duanmu Huai, inquiring about his well-being. After all, this time, Duanmu Huai had been away for quite a while. During this period, they only got some information from Alice Phil and Medea—the latter having been summoned by Duanmu Huai before and thus having some understanding of his situation. But unfortunately, because Nyarlathotep summoned ■■■■, Duanmu Huai was forced to use Time Retrospection, kicking them back to their original world.
Even Felin, who rarely shows interest, poked her head out of her room to stare at Duanmu Huai, which surprised him a bit—this surviving Dragonkin Princess usually loves operating drones to roam around planets, admiring the scenery. He thought she'd just let a drone out to circle him instead.
Even Dadda happily ran over, circling Duanmu Huai's warship. During Duanmu Huai's absence, this Ethereal Dragon had done nothing but eat and sleep. Now, it was finally lively again.
"Though it might not sound nice to say this, Sir Knight, that lady... is she alright?"
Lorena looked at Duanmu Huai and cautiously glanced at the figure not far behind him—there, Mianmu Zuoniao stood with arms spread wide, blankly staring at the ceiling of the Tribunal, spinning around as if she were dancing, acting completely oblivious.
"Her name is Mianmu Zuoniao. Well, let's just say... you only need to know that she's not very sane."
Duanmu Huai sighed silently. The reward for this task just had to be Mianmu Zuoniao... truly a bit of a headache.
"Not very sane?"
"That's right. She's not like you, there's no reasoning with her, and she loves chopping non-human things. So if she encounters any demon beasts or monsters, it doesn't matter the occasion, environment, or surroundings; she'll just draw her sword and chop them down... you all need to be cautious."
"Eh?"
Upon hearing Duanmu Huai's explanation, Greiya's face turned pale, and she tucked her large, chunky tail behind her—speaking of which, hasn't your tail gotten even chunkier after a while? Can't it slim down a bit?
"She... won't come to chop me, right?"
"She shouldn't. If she were going to chop you, she would have done it upon seeing you."
"Uh..."
"But you should still be cautious; she's not exactly someone to mess with. Though in terms of combat power, she might not surpass most of you, remember to be careful when interacting with her."
Or rather, she's the best evidence that people can't always understand each other.
Of course, if anyone could understand her, that would be the real issue. But for Duanmu Huai, he's not entirely resistant to Mianmu Zuoniao, since her SAN value is zero, meaning she's completely immune to all kinds of spiritual pollution and erosion—adding black onto black doesn't work.
Moreover, Mianmu Zuoniao is sensitive to mind control, like the Pink Terror Demon; she might see right through it and slash without hesitation... perhaps it's time to upgrade her equipment?
Mary's Golden Pupil could also do this, but since she often accompanies Duanmu Huai, Mianmu Zuoniao wandering around like a randomly flashing alert might actually be useful?
"Ann, how are things currently?"
After meeting with everyone, Duanmu Huai returned to the Combat Command Room and inquired about the situation there.
"After the battle with the unexpected enemy, the Star Union suffered heavy losses and is currently recuperating. After the previous battle, they recognized the threat of intelligent machines and are discussing countermeasures."
"Good, they need to learn the lesson."
Duanmu Huai snorted coldly. But it's normal, after all, the Star Union hails from the era of cooperation, entirely different from the Imperial's human supremacists. In fact, Zhenjiling had reported several times to Duanmu Huai about the dissatisfaction on the Star Union's network with the Tribunal's human supremacism, heavily criticizing how, during the Reapers' War, the Tribunal could have helped other allied races but instead watched them fall to the Reapers—well, they're right, Duanmu Huai did it intentionally.
