Getting Stronger By Fighting

Chapter 337: The emergence of the answer_1

Everyone who considered this possibility simply shook their heads in disbelief.

It was outrageous.

They were just trying to make a living, not courting death.

Wang Zhan, however, found this increasingly amusing.

Taking advantage of everyone's attention being diverted by Jin Botao, he even quietly hid in a corner, using Ku Zhu as cover.

He then looked at Jin Botao, the State Governor, whose expression was clearly a bit off, and chuckled inwardly.

Well, well, my dear State Governor, you brought this upon yourself. You can't blame me for taking advantage. Let's see how the show unfolds.

After all, to him, apart from voluntarily revealing himself to Jin Botao and Guan Shan, he was basically one of the transparent people.

And what can one of the transparent people do but watch the fun?

Poor Guan Shan. He had just managed to emerge from that whirlwind of complex emotions and was savoring the joy in his heart.

He even wanted to go up and thank Wang Zhan!

But given the current situation, who would dare to step away?

He was genuinely afraid that, as these scoundrels suggested, if State Governor Jin Botao stumbled or bumped into something, it would truly become a huge problem.

Therefore, Guan Shan had no choice but to block everyone, while simultaneously trying to placate State Governor Jin Botao with a wry smile.

"State Governor, please wait a moment," Guan Shan said. "Talking to them is pointless. They're all just lackeys. The people behind them might know you, but these individuals wouldn't recognize the State Governor.

"Why don't you go back and have a seat while I make a call? It will be over soon. Besides, their targets are that kid and Martial King Ku Zhu. Who else would dare make a move on them? Do they think they're dying too slowly, living too long...?"

Only then did Jin Botao snort coldly, intending to go back and speak with Ku Zhu, while also glancing at Wang Zhan.

But who was Wang Zhan?

He was exceptionally crafty. The moment he saw Jin Botao about to turn, he immediately ducked back and slipped away.

This directly resulted in Jin Botao turning around to find that Ku Zhu was gone, and so was the young man suspected to be Wang Zhan.

Instead, right in front of him, a dozen or so sharply dressed, keen-eyed young secretaries suddenly appeared, speaking to Jin Botao with cheerful smiles.

"Excuse me, sir, could you please move aside? Yes, I'm talking to you. Please move. I have some business with the elder gentleman behind you..."

Fuming with suppressed rage, and having turned only to find Wang Zhan and Ku Zhu gone, Jin Botao's face darkened. He stared intently at one of the secretaries and demanded, "Who are you asking about in front of me?"

The secretary looked utterly bewildered. "Isn't it you?"

The perplexed young secretary replied indignantly, "Old Man, let me tell you, just because you look a bit familiar doesn't mean you can block the way! Believe it or not..."

While this fellow was spouting such nonsense, a few of the other young secretaries, who were extremely sharp-eyed, immediately recognized Jin Botao.

Their hearts instantly trembled.

Wait! This is... they thought.

The State Governor?

What's he doing here?

Immediately, those with quick wits started to back away, intending to leave as soon as possible.

Unfortunately, Jin Botao had already seen them and bellowed, "All of you, stand the hell still! Guan Shan, keep an eye on them! Anyone who dares to move, break his legs! Besides, it doesn't matter if their legs are broken or not; those people wouldn't dare cause me trouble..."

"Damn it, Old Man, you..."

THUD.

"You'd better shut up! This is the State Governor, you idiot!" someone hissed.

Although some didn't want to remind him, they had no choice now. Their backers and this fellow's backers had a good relationship; in fact, their families were currently joined by marriage. If the State Governor became enraged and decided to vent his anger, no one present would escape. They would all have to bear some of the blame. All they could do was try to de-escalate the situation as quickly as possible.

The problem was, how could they know Jin Botao was already furious?

As for Wang Zhan, as soon as these people arrived and Jin Botao turned his head, he immediately spun around. Casually, with Ku Zhu in tow and unnoticed by anyone, he returned to the Yue Sheng Tea House. He then approached the hidden small room.

Ku Zhu asked, bewildered, "Young Master, what are we doing here?"

Without looking back, Wang Zhan replied, "Looking for a way out, of course. Given the current situation, believe it or not, when the Military Department arrives, Jin Botao will be the first to throw us under the bus."

Ku Zhu was stunned.

Then, he saw Wang Zhan banging hard on the wall. "Hey, I know you can hear me! Hurry up and open the door, or I'll smash this tea house to bits!"

Ku Zhu was even more puzzled, feeling a little embarrassed, and quickly pretended not to know him.

What is the Young Master doing? he wondered. This is clearly just a dead end. How could anyone be here?

"Young Master, there's... there's no one here!"

Little did Ku Zhu know, as he looked at Wang Zhan with an embarrassed expression, Wang Zhan was also looking at him meaningfully, as if at an idiot.

Then, CREAK.

The edge of the dead end protruded slightly, and a door in the wall opened!

The door opened?!

Ku Zhu was dumbfounded.

What was going on? Was he a Martial King or an ordinary person? Why couldn't he detect anything? Why did he feel like a blind man, completely kept in the dark wherever he went?

Wang Zhan ignored him. He clicked his tongue in wonder, looking at the expressionless young woman before him.

Such fair skin... no, her dress is so... shapely? No, her head is so round... Pfft, what nonsense am I thinking?

"Aren't you going to invite me in?"

The older sister invited Wang Zhan into the small room. The rosy-cheeked, white-toothed young man was also there. Now, everything was clear. Wang Zhan had indeed discovered their secret, and neither of the siblings had sensed his means.

The younger brother immediately showed a hint of apology on his face. "Dear guest, I'm sorry! We didn't mean to..."

However, the older sister suddenly narrowed her beautiful eyes, stared at Wang Zhan, and asked, "Can you tell me how you figured it out? Even a Martial King can't see through this level barrier!"

Ku Zhu remained silent, mute.

I'm not a Martial King; I'm a blind man. I have no face left...

Wang Zhan feigned sincerity. "Of course, I saw it with my eyes. I have a certain rapport with many plants."

He was clearly bluffing.

Just as the older sister was about to speak again, the younger brother quickly stopped her. He repeatedly apologized to Wang Zhan.

"We're deeply sorry! Please forgive us," he said. "Don't let this get out, otherwise our Yue Sheng Tea House will be done for.

"If you want to leave, please follow me this way. No one will discover your presence here."

The younger brother invited him with utmost sincerity. Of course, he also understood. Whether Wang Zhan spoke out or not was his business. As for acknowledging it, they would follow the older sister's usual methods. It was an old trick of theirs, all for the sake of making money. There was no other way. A slightly damaged reputation didn't matter; they had dealt with plenty of such things before. Besides, the Yue Sheng Tea House hadn't sprung up overnight; competitors had spread similar rumors long ago. But in the end, weren't all such claims proven to be mere rumors? This resilience was the foundation of Yue Sheng Tea House's existence.

Wang Zhan then nodded in praise. "That's the way to do things! Oh, I almost forgot. Ku Zhu, go on up and bring that ornamental tree down for me." As his words faded, he seemed to have a sudden thought and quickly urged Ku Zhu on.

Having no face left, and feeling increasingly that Wang Zhan was unfathomably deep, Ku Zhu naturally chose to continue running his errands.

In the end, under the older sister's watchful and somewhat resentful gaze, Wang Zhan walked away with that 'magical treasure' of an ornamental tree, worth at least ten million, and casually strolled out of Yue Sheng Tea House, preparing to leave.

During this time, Ku Zhu said nothing more, maintaining his silence. He truly resigned himself to being a butler, an attendant, a blind man, and a deaf man—utterly without face.

Unexpectedly, just at this moment, the older sister, after much thought, still couldn't accept losing that ornamental tree. She directly pulled her hand away from her younger brother's grasp, darted forward, took a deep breath while facing Wang Zhan's receding figure, and then asked, "You won't be able to hide anywhere in Quan State City! How about this: I'll help you find a secret place, but you have to return that potted plant to me!"

Wang Zhan turned around quietly. "Are you sure?"

Ku Zhu looked at the older sister expressionlessly, sighing in his heart.

Fool, do you even know who this guy is? He's not human! I had no choice and ended up looking like this, a mere attendant. You're so beautiful, why must you offer yourself up on a platter?

If Wang Zhan wasn't interested, it would be fine.

But if he was, then there'd be big trouble!

Which of the women who crossed Wang Zhan's path hadn't gotten ensnared, unable to escape? Wasn't that how he, Ku Zhu, had ended up here?

A realization struck Ku Zhu.

Damn it, I wasn't born from any of *your* women... Grass! The more I think about it, the more messed up it feels!

「On the other side.」

In a fit of rage, Jin Botao had directly sent all the secretaries from the various families on the scene to jail.

Once he got into the car, he finally understood the key reason Wang Zhan had invited him this time.

"Ku Zhu!"

That's right, Ku Zhu! Who was Ku Zhu? A seller of fake medicine! Why did the young man backing him insist on meeting? Was it just for some inexplicable reason?

Then, Jin Botao remembered. He had once heard that someone was selling fake medicine on the outskirts of Quan State. And apart from some useless components, the other ingredients in the fake medicine were genuinely effective. For ordinary people, this was definitely good news!

So, to investigate, he had immediately ordered Guan Shan to send some insignificant kid to check it out. Due to the nature of Guan Shan's responsibilities, the person dispatched would certainly not be some spineless weakling. Rather, he would be swift, vigilant, and prudent. Thanks to these exceptional qualities, Jin Botao had heard the kid had already reached the designated waiting area and was currently awaiting further news.

Therefore, now understanding Wang Zhan's implications, Jin Botao immediately asked Guan Shan, "Guan Shan, have you heard anything from that kid you sent to contact Ku Zhu?"

Guan Shan looked puzzled. "State Governor, have you forgotten? Our scout only reports in around nine PM. We can't contact him at other times."

Thus, it was only after Jin Botao returned to the State Government and obtained the statements from those individuals that he finally pieced together the cause and effect of the whole affair.

That kid actually obtained the agency rights... and then Wang Zhan immediately arranged to meet me?

Jin Botao frowned, understanding dawning on him.

No wonder Wang Zhan had invited him for such a baffling cup of tea. So that was the reason!
