A little over ten minutes later, Jiang Anmin's aunt rushed over in a flurry. She had managed to cut a journey that should have taken half an hour in half.
Carrying a handbag, she found the table where Jiang Anmin and the others were seated. The stunning looks of Lin Feng and Zhang Yuxi immediately caught her eye.
"Eh? Isn't this that... that... Lin..."
Lin Feng smiled. "Lin Feng. I visited your home a few times back in the day."
Jiang Qian slapped her forehead. "Right, right, right! I remember now. Back in high school, you and An Min were quite close."
At the time, Jiang Qian's house was near Meicheng Middle School, and Lin Feng and Jiang Anmin would occasionally go there for lunch. Seeing Lin Feng now, Jiang Qian knew he had to be the one buying the house. After all, it used to belong to the Lin Family.
Jiang Qian looked at Zhang Yuxi and asked with a smile, "Is this your girlfriend? She's so beautiful and has such an elegant air about her."
Jiang Anmin interjected, "You're mistaken, Auntie. She's Lin Feng's wife and the mother of his children."
Hearing this, Jiang Qian was utterly astounded.
"You... you're married? And you even have children?"
Jiang Qian herself was thirty-eight and still single. Yet Lin Feng, at his young age, was not only married but already a father? No wonder she was so shocked.
It's enough to make you die from envy!
Jiang Qian then greeted Sun Yu and the others. She was a natural socializer and, with just a few words, managed to warm everyone up.
Lin Feng asked, "Have you eaten? We've finished with the hotpot, but we can order more if you'd like."
Jiang Qian waved her hands frantically. "No, no, it's fine. I've already eaten."
In truth, she had been just about to have dinner when Jiang Anmin called saying someone wanted to buy a house. She didn't even think twice about her meal, immediately hopping on her bike and rushing over.
After all, skipping one meal is no big deal, but missing an opportunity to earn money is an irreplaceable loss!
"Have you all finished?" she asked eagerly. "If you're done, I can take you to see the house now. How does that sound?"
Lin Feng nodded. "We finished a while ago."
"Alright, then let's get going!"
Jiang Qian drove her car with Jiang Anmin, Su Qiqi, and Bao Wen. Lin Feng drove his own car with Zhang Yuxi, while Wang Tian and Sun Yu sat in the back. Since none of them had anything better to do, they decided to tag along and see the place to pass the time.
Jiang Qian led the way, and they arrived after about half an hour.
Getting out of the car, Jiang Anmin sighed, "With the New Year so close, the traffic is insane."
After parking, the group walked from the lot straight to the villa. Lin Feng held Zhang Yuxi's hand as scenes from the past flooded his mind.
Back then, his father, Lin Dashan, had been at the height of his success. He would often come home late after entertaining clients for business. To be precise, this started after Lin Feng entered elementary school; Lin Dashan grew busier by the day.
Later, after a failed investment, he was saddled with enormous debt. Lin Dashan wanted to make a comeback, but he no longer had the means. He had always believed he could fight his way back to the top, but turning around to see that his own son was now a father served as a stark dose of reality. It made him see many things more clearly. Becoming a grandfather at a relatively young age had also changed his perspective. Whether he could get rich again no longer mattered. As long as he could be with his family, he had the greatest wealth of all.
The Lin Family house was a three-story villa. The garage was at the entrance, and the first floor had a living room, dining room, kitchen, and a small bedroom. The second floor housed the master bedroom with an en suite bathroom, along with two secondary bedrooms and a shared bathroom. On top was a rooftop terrace, where Lin Dashan had built an awning for Zhou Cuilan to grow flowers and plants. Lin Feng remembered how his mother, Zhou Cuilan, had planted flowers everywhere, both in the rooms and on the terrace. The rooms themselves hadn't changed much.
Seeing Lin Feng looking over the villa, Jiang Qian came up behind him to explain. "The owner of this house is short on cash and wants to sell it before the New Year. The initial asking price was nearly three million, but he's already dropped it to 2.55 million. That's a reduction of nearly five hundred thousand! The owner doesn't accept loans, though; it has to be paid in full upfront. This clause scared off a lot of potential buyers, but it's a good house."
Back in the day, Lin Dashan had spent nearly five hundred thousand on renovations alone. The flooring and furniture were all made of the best materials, and the appliances were from major, expensive brands.
Lin Feng led Zhang Yuxi on a tour, pointing to a large secondary bedroom. "This used to be my room."
Zhang Yuxi went inside, trying to picture a younger Lin Feng living there.
Back in the living room, Jiang Qian said, "If you want to buy it, you'll need to make a fifty percent deposit first. The remaining fifty percent is due when the deed is transferred. That's the owner's requirement, so my hands are tied."
Lin Feng nodded in understanding. "Okay. I'll pay fifty percent today, and we can handle the transfer tomorrow."
Jiang Qian was overjoyed. "No problem!" Her hands trembled as she fumbled through her bag. "Just a moment. I'll get the contract and the seal, and I'll write you a receipt."
Initially, she had assumed it was Lin Feng's parents who were buying. How could a university student possibly have that kind of money? But she lived by the principle of never giving up on a potential deal, so she had enthusiastically given Lin Feng the details anyway. She never expected that the buyer would turn out to be Lin Feng himself.
Jiang Qian started to see Lin Feng in a completely new light.
Sun Yu, Bao Wen, and the others also looked shocked as they re-evaluated their friend.
This guy is a total boss! At the dinner table earlier, we thought he was just showing off, but it turns out he's the real deal.
Only Jiang Anmin, having known Lin Feng the longest, had a better sense of him.
I knew Lin Feng wasn't just bragging, which is why I called my aunt. It looks like I bet on the right person this time.
Jiang Qian took out two copies of the contract from her bag. She then pulled out her phone to do a quick calculation.
Okay, 2.55 million... fifty percent of that is...
After filling out the contract, she handed it to Lin Feng. "Take a look. Let me know if you have any questions."
Lin Feng sat down and read through it. "Can we transfer the ownership tomorrow morning? Is that a problem?"
Jiang Qian smiled. "Not at all. The owner has been waiting at home for the past few days. He's very anxious to sell."
Lin Feng signed the contract, and Jiang Qian immediately asked, "How would you like to pay?"
"Bank transfer."
Jiang Qian paused for a second. "Oh, okay. I'll give you the account number."
Jiang Anmin quickly asked, "I know a bank's single transfer limit is 200,000, though the daily limit can be tens of millions. Can a mobile app transfer that much?"
Lin Feng opened his banking app and saw the system had already linked his Black Gold Card. He entered the account number Jiang Qian gave him and showed her the screen. "Is this it?"
"Yes."
Standing beside him, Jiang Qian saw a notification pop up on Lin Feng's phone. It identified him as a distinguished Black Gold Card user. She was internally ecstatic but kept her expression perfectly composed.
Lin Feng showed her the screen confirming the successful transfer.
Jiang Qian nodded with a smile. "Yes, I see it. I'll let you know when it's all set." She then added, "Oh, right, I don't have your contact information. What's your phone number?"
It was obvious that since Lin Feng had decided to buy the house, Jiang Qian's attitude toward him had changed dramatically.
Lin Feng told her his number.
"Great," Jiang Qian said cheerfully. "I'll see you tomorrow morning, then."
Lin Feng nodded. "Alright!"
