On the way back, Lin Jie was the first to speak. "Bro, sorry I caused you trouble."
Lin Feng smiled. "What trouble is this? You guys are the ones who shouldn't take this to heart."
Seeing the angry expressions on Lin Jie beside him and the three friends behind, Lin Feng sighed helplessly.
"This kind of upsetting stuff is pretty common; it happens more or less every day. As you go from high school to university, you step into a bigger, more complex world where you're bound to meet all sorts of people. When faced with situations like this, you have to ask yourself if you can tolerate it, if you feel like you're being wronged. If you feel you're being wronged and you can't accept it, then fight back. If you think you can bear it, then enduring it will let it pass. Life is full of things that don't go your way. Don't let yourself be wronged too often, but don't let yourself become too hot-tempered either."
It was often a contradictory situation; the key was how you chose to look at it.
After turning a corner, Lin Feng continued, "If I had beaten him half to death today, I have the means to pay out a few million in compensation. If I had crippled him, I also have the means to pay over a hundred thousand. But if I had nothing, doing something like that would only drag down my family and lead to irreversible consequences."
Lin Feng gave a faint smile. "That's why having money gives you confidence! I hope you all work hard so that in the future, whatever you do, you can do it with confidence."
As they spoke, they arrived back at the villa.
Zhang Yuxi was already waiting in the living room. Seeing them return, she and Da Bai immediately came over to greet them. When she saw the bruises on Lin Jie's face, her expression changed slightly.
"I'll go get the first-aid kit."
Ever since the babies were bitten by mosquitoes, the first-aid kit had been kept fully stocked. The injuries weren't serious, just some bruising.
Lin Feng chuckled. "It's no big deal. There's really no need to make a fuss."
He sat down and started talking about things he had experienced.
"I used to work as a server at KFC, and one time I accidentally spilled some Coke on a customer's pants. It was just a little bit, but the customer wouldn't let it go, saying his pants were from K-Boxing, cost over a thousand, and on and on. I apologized several times and ended up paying over two hundred for the dry-cleaning bill."
"Later, when I was delivering food, I was a minute late. The customer refused to accept the meal and just cursed me out. There are so many nitpicky people like that; you run into a few every day."
Lin Feng shared many of his experiences with them. Zhang Yuxi's heart ached for him. She never realized Lin Feng had endured so many grievances before.
"Anyway, I've said my piece. I'll leave it to you guys to think it over," Lin Feng concluded. "You're all men, so don't get hung up on such trivial matters. Take a shower and get to bed early!"
Seeing it was getting late, Lin Feng and Zhang Yuxi went to help the babies use the potty before bed. By the crib, Lin Feng caressed their small faces, hoping they would grow up to be strong people, both inside and out.
Zhang Yuxi hugged him. "Honey..."
"Hmm?"
"I love you."
Lin Feng was a little puzzled. "What's this all of a sudden?"
"You had to put up with so much in the past."
Lin Feng laughed. "Put up with what? If you just learn to let things go and not take them so seriously, that's how you make life livable. Have you never been wronged in your life?"
Zhang Yuxi smiled sweetly. "Ever since I got together with you, I've never been wronged."
Lin Feng raised an eyebrow. "Really? Then how about I give you something to feel wronged about?"
As he spoke, he pounced and playfully taught Zhang Yuxi a lesson.
In the living room, after hearing Lin Feng's words, Lin Jie and his friends gradually felt that the incident wasn't such a big deal after all. They realized that a man had to be strong enough to protect the things he wanted to protect.
「The next day.」
The bruises on the boys' faces were more noticeable, but their spirits seemed unaffected.
Lin Feng was making breakfast and had sent Da Bai to wake Zhang Yuxi for her run. As expected, Zhang Yuxi was too tired to get up today.
"You guys go ahead and eat. I'll get the babies ready."
Still half-asleep, Zhang Yuxi mumbled that her back felt like it was about to break. Lin Feng couldn't help but chuckle when he heard her.
After helping the babies pee and poop, he thought that since they could walk now, it was time to get them their own potties. Next, he began styling Er Bao and San Bao's hair.
Just then, Zhang Yuxi woke up and shakily went to freshen up.
Lin Feng opened his bookmarked "Ultimate Guide to Girls' Braids" only to find the image link was broken. What a shame. Luckily, he had other styles saved. San Bao's hair was soft and easy to manage. This time, Lin Feng tied their hair into pigtails and adorned them with two small flowers. They looked incredibly cute. He then did the same for Er Bao, giving her two pigtails with two matching flowers.
Lin Feng didn't think much of it until the babies started playing. The pigtails swung around like weapons, whipping the face of anyone who got too close.
Si Bao, not having learned his lesson, wanted to play. He even hung a toy on one of Er Bao's pigtails and swung it back and forth. Er Bao squealed with delight.
But when Si Bao went over to San Bao, he froze. He likely remembered his past hair-pulling experiences and silently lowered his hand. San Bao blinked her big eyes, smiled in confusion, and offered Si Bao a toy. Si Bao took the toy and walked away.
Lin Feng burst out laughing when he saw this.
After breakfast, Lin Jie and his friends stayed home, playing basketball. They helped with the dishes while Lin Feng cooked, and they would also go out to skateboard or join Lin Feng's family for walks. They never mentioned the incident from that day again.
Before long, the potties arrived. Lin Feng had bought multifunctional ones. When the babies were little, they could sit on the potty to use the toilet themselves. As they got a bit older, the seat could be detached and placed on the family toilet, while the base of the potty transformed into a step stool, helping the babies get up on their own. The design for boys was also very thoughtful, featuring two small handles and a washable seat cushion.
That morning, Lin Feng decided to test it out with Da Bao first. Da Bao was a bit baffled, sitting there not knowing what to do.
Lin Feng told him, "Sit here to pee-pee and poo-poo."
Da Bao stared at him blankly.
Lin Feng found another baby potty, squatted over it, and pretended to poop. "Push, son! Pee-pee, poo-poo..."
Finally, Da Bao couldn't hold it in any longer. His little face turned red as he took care of business.
Lin Feng gave him a thumbs-up. "Awesome job, baby!"
He then wiped Da Bao's butt and gave it a quick wash. The babies were still in diapers for now; they'd stop using them once the weather got consistently warmer.
Next up were Er Bao and San Bao. They both sat on their potties with bewildered faces. Not far away, Da Bao's used potty sat as a demonstration. Lin Feng explained the process over and over. Er Bao quietly figured it out and got it done. San Bao also understood how to use it, and everything went smoothly.
When Zhang Yuxi saw, she was both surprised and delighted. "The babies are so smart! They learned after just one try."
Lin Feng was also greatly gratified. "I'll install a small urinal in the bathroom for the boys to make it easier for them to pee."
As they guided the babies to use the toilet themselves, the couple felt like they could see the light at the end of the tunnel.
When a groggy Si Bao was placed on the little potty, he tilted his head, his little bottom bare, and promptly fell fast asleep. For him, the toilet was just a comfortable little chair.
Lin Feng was speechless.
He gently shook Si Bao awake. "Hurry up! Pee-pee and poo-poo!"
Si Bao shook his head, annoyed. He blearily opened his eyes and let out a delicate yawn. "Daddy, pee-pee..."
Lin Feng smiled and coaxed him, "Come on, pee-pee here. Poo-poo here."
To encourage him, Lin Feng had left Da Bao's "achievement" in the other potty nearby and pointed at it. He mimed the actions again. "Pee-pee, poo-poo!"
Si Bao seemed to wake up a little. He stood up, bare-bottomed, and shouted, "No!"
Lin Feng pointed to the large toilet. "This is for Daddy and Mommy. This little one is yours."
"No!" Si Bao refused, looking distressed. "Daddy, pee-pee... pee-pee coming out!"
Seeing the urgency, Lin Feng quickly held Si Bao so he could relieve himself.
Once comfortable again, Si Bao sat right back down on the potty, having fully accepted it as his personal stool.
Lin Feng called out for Da Bai. Da Bai came trotting up, and Lin Feng handed Si Bao over.
"Keep an eye on him for me. Don't let him go downstairs." He didn't want him tumbling down the stairs.
When Lin Feng came out after cleaning the bathroom, Si Bao was sitting on the potty, having the time of his life playing.
Lin Feng picked him up. "Alright, alright, playtime is over."
