My College Teacher is My Children's Mom

Chapter 194 Persuasion to Reconcile

Several of them walked into the lobby, where Second Aunt promptly sat down on a sofa.

"Come on, let's sit here and get a feel for the place."

Third Aunt shook her head. "I think Wang Lu isn't feeling well, so I'll take her home first."

Lin Dahu scowled. "Have you never sat on a sofa before? Must you sit right here?"

Second Aunt pursed her lips. "This is a sofa in a five-star hotel. How could it possibly be the same as the one we have at home?"

Zhao Lizhen and Zhou Cuilan came over. "Do you all want to go out and have some fun? We can watch the kids."

Since Yu Zheng was back and Lin Rui was also there, it was a given that the younger generation should go hang out together.

Checking the time, it was already three in the afternoon.

"Mom, Yuxi and I are going out with them for a while," Lin Feng said. "We probably won't be back for dinner tonight."

Zhou Cuilan waved her hand. "Go on, go on, just give us a call later."

As for the two men, the women paid them no mind. Zhou Cuilan instructed Lin Dashan, "We're going home to look after the kids. While you're out, drink less and cut back on the smoking!"

Lin Dashan patted his pockets. "Do you have any cash? Give me a few hundred!"

Zhou Cuilan slipped him five hundred. "Once you lose this, come home."

"Isn't this a little too little?"

"If you think it's not enough, then go earn it yourself!"

Zhao Lizhen gave her own husband similar instructions.

Zhang Fuyong maintained a stern face. "You don't need to tell me. I already know."

Zhao Lizhen huffed. "Oh, you know everything, do you? Just you wait and see how I deal with you if you come home drunk."

Zhang Fuyong immediately fell silent.

After finishing their meal, An Lan and Liu Bo had to leave to catch their high-speed train. They came over to say their goodbyes to Zhou Cuilan and Zhao Lizhen.

Zhao Lizhen sighed, "You have to take good care of yourself. Your parents were supposed to come this time, but something came up and they just couldn't get away."

An Lan smiled. "As long as they're taking care of themselves, I'll be fine. I'm doing quite well on my own."

"You're getting more and more capable!"

Zhou Cuilan urged An Lan and Liu Bo, "You should stay here for a few more days."

An Lan shook her head. "We can't, Auntie. The shop needs someone to mind it."

Liu Bo also added, "Auntie, I'll come see you next time I'm free."

Zhou Cuilan nodded. "Alright then. Next time you come, your auntie will make you something delicious."

The first to leave were Wang Lu and Third Aunt. Lin Jiajun drove them home before returning. Next, Zhou Cuilan and Zhao Lizhen left, leaving the young people to their own activities.

As for Lin Dashan and the others, their plans consisted of playing cards and drinking tea. At this time of day, it was hot outside; heading somewhere with air-conditioning to drink tea and play cards was a much better option. After a brief discussion, the men left together.

The entire time, Lin Dahu didn't acknowledge his son or daughter, not even sparing them a glance. Second Aunt, however, pulled her daughter-in-law aside to talk for a bit, then chatted with Lin Xiaolan. Feng Yong's absence confirmed that they were, in fact, divorced.

The young people discussed what to do, tossing around ideas like karaoke or shopping at the mall.

Yu Zheng was the first to make a practical suggestion. "It's so hot outside. We should just find a cool place to hang out."

"Then let's go sing karaoke," Lin Rui suggested, taking a drag from his cigarette.

Yu Zheng shook his head. "You guys can go sing. I'm skipping that."

"Then what should we do?" Lin Rui asked, turning to Lin Feng. "Where should we go?"

Lin Feng was chatting with Jiang Anmin. "You guys decide, I'm fine with anything," he said, before turning back to his conversation. "Are Sun Yu and Wang Tian getting married?"

Jiang Anmin nodded. "Wang Tian is pregnant."

It was a normal enough development for a couple. Jiang Anmin continued, "Wang Tian doesn't want the baby and is thinking about breaking up with Sun Yu. They're in the middle of a big fight about it."

Lin Feng didn't press for more details; it was none of his business. "I don't care about them," he said. "But you have to invite me when you and Su Qiqi get married."

"Of course!"

Jiang Anmin also indirectly hinted that he wanted to open another branch with Lin Feng. Lin Feng thought it was feasible but would require long-term planning.

...

In the end, they decided to join Lin Dahu and the others to play cards.

In the teahouse, the young people and the older generation played at separate tables. Playing against three opponents, Zhang Yuxi won a fortune. Zhang Fuyong also won three games in a row.

Lin Dahu couldn't sit still any longer. "Your father-daughter duo is really something. Is it genetic?"

Zhang Fuyong chuckled. "It's not genetics, just a bit of good luck."

Genetics? It was simply that the father and daughter duo knew how to count cards.

It wouldn't do for Zhang Yuxi to keep winning, so she had Lin Feng take her place. Lin Feng was genuinely terrible at cards and promptly lost half of Zhang Yuxi's winnings. They took turns playing, and the biggest losers were by far Yu Zheng's family. Neither of them was any good. Everyone else managed to win at least a small amount.

Lin Daan glanced at Lin Rui. "Lin Rui, why don't you come play a couple of rounds?"

Lin Rui went over.

Lin Daan smiled. "Take your dad's seat. He's getting all worked up."

Lin Dahu got up, sat to the side with his tea, and said nothing.

Just then, Lin Dashan chimed in, "Our in-law here is just too good; he's beaten us several times in a row. You're a good player, Lin Rui, come on!"

"Aren't we in-laws?" Zhang Fuyong asked.

"There are no in-laws at the card table!" Lin Dashan paused, then laughed. "When you were winning my money, why didn't you think of us as in-laws then?"

"I got too excited and forgot!"

Their invitation for Lin Rui to play cards was just a pretense; their real goal was to reconcile the father and son.

As they played, Lin Daan finally spoke up. "Lin Rui, we all watched you grow up. You didn't use to be like this. You were so obedient and sensible." He added with a sarcastic edge, "Now you're so capable you dare to clash with your own father. How impressive!"

Lin Dashan feigned ignorance. "Oh, that impressive? He's certainly gotten capable!"

Knowing he was an outsider, Zhang Fuyong made an excuse to leave the table, asking Yu Zheng to take his place. "I'm going to the restroom. Can you take my spot for a bit?"

Yu Zheng understood his intention and sat down with a smile. "No problem."

Zhang Fuyong got up and headed for the restroom. "Wait for me, I'll be right back." As he left, he pulled the door closed behind him. He went to the adjacent room where the younger people were playing and gestured for Lin Feng to play a specific card.

Within a minute, a commotion erupted from the private room next door, sounding like an argument.

Lin Feng's hearing was exceptional, having been enhanced twice by the Purification and Marrow Cleansing. He immediately set down his cards. "I'll go take a look."

He didn't really want to get involved, but he was the only man of his generation present. Zhang Fuyong was an outsider, so it wasn't appropriate for him to intervene.

"Oh, in that case, I'll take this seat," Sun Rou said, sitting down in Lin Feng's vacated spot. "Maybe it's a lucky spot."

Zhang Yuxi whispered, "Honey, take it easy."

Lin Feng nodded.

When he entered the room, he saw the card table had been overturned. Second Aunt and Yu Zheng were holding back Lin Rui, while on the other side, Lin Dashan and Lin Daan were restraining Lin Dahu. The atmosphere was incredibly tense and hostile, as if swords had been drawn.
