My College Teacher is My Children's Mom

Chapter 437: Opening a Store in Yangcheng

After viewing several shops, Lin Feng wasn't satisfied with any of them.

Lin Jiajun sighed, "Nowadays, where can you find a business with a good storefront that isn't successful? The ones up for sublease are all failing."

For many years, Jiang Qian had been working in real estate, and she would notify them immediately if any good locations became available. But good locations were indeed hard to come by.

It's said that good wine needs no bush, but if you have to go down an alley with no parking, how can that possibly work?

Lately, Lin Jiajun had been trying to quit smoking and always had mints ready in his pocket. Popping one in his mouth, he said, "Let's wait a bit longer. Good locations are hard to find!"

Jiang Anmin added, "Earlier this year, there was a shop with an incredible location. We rushed over, only to find out the contract had been signed just before we arrived."

Lin Feng looked around. "Plum City has changed a lot these past few years!"

Jiang Anmin nodded. "You're telling me!"

On the way back, everyone was talking and laughing, deciding to see how things went with the new branch.

Lin Jiajun tentatively asked, "Lin Feng, what if we open a branch in Yangcheng? What do you think?"

Lin Feng thought it was a good idea. "Sure, but I don't have time to manage the shop. Who among you has the time and is willing to leave Plum City?"

They all knew that Lin Feng had been traveling between several cities for his four children's education. His children were making him proud and showed great promise. No matter how much money you make, it's just an inanimate object. But children possess unlimited potential, which is why the wealthier people become, the more they value education.

If only my two children had that kind of talent, I would be willing to endure any hardship for them, Lin Jiajun thought.

"If you want to open a branch in Yangcheng, I actually have a suitable location," Lin Feng said.

"I invested in a restaurant with An Lan a while back. When we did, the university town was already under construction. After all these years, construction was finally completed before the New Year, and it will be operational in March.

"I bought three storefronts, intending to open a branch with An Lan. But now she's focused on her family, so I'm the one looking after the restaurant most of the time, and those three storefronts have been sitting idle. I was planning to figure out what to do with them after the New Year.

"I can provide the storefronts, but you'll have to run the business. I don't have time for that while taking care of the kids."

Lin Jiajun and Jiang Anmin exchanged a glance. "Alright, we'll discuss it amongst ourselves."

Lin Feng had no objections. He had previously considered using those three shops for SP's offices, but after visiting, he realized the surrounding stores all sold school and household supplies. It would be better to find a proper office building.

When they returned to Yuhuali, everyone was enjoying hotpot.

Zhang Yuxi didn't say much, but her eyes couldn't help but glance upwards, exchanging a look with Lin Feng.

*Honey, look. They seem to be going bald.*

*Yeah, I know.*

*I'm a little worried. Will you go bald?*

*Don't worry, I won't.*

At the dinner table, Lin Jiajun asked Lin Jie about his plans. "Finding a job should be easy for you Peking University grads, right?"

Lin Jie looked a little puzzled and began to share his feelings about his years at Peking University.

"Once you get into Peking University, you realize someone like me is actually quite ordinary, basically at the bottom of the barrel!

"There are so many people more talented than you that any shred of arrogance or pride you once had gets trampled to bits shortly after you enroll.

"They outperform you in your own field, and they do even better than you in other fields!

"And you know what they think? Is this supposed to be impressive? Not really. To them, it's just standard procedure!

"It's easy to get disheartened if you're not mentally tough!"

Everyone understood now why Lin Jie had become more grounded rather than arrogant after enrolling in Peking University. The place was full of prodigies who weren't even aware of how brilliant they were, capable of crushing others with what they considered routine actions!

Lin Jie remarked with feeling, "It's truly a place for the strong. Apart from working hard, you really don't know what else you can do."

This statement left Lin Jiajun deep in thought.

When they arrived back home after dinner, the children were already asleep.

Wang Lu came over. "What's the matter? You look unhappy."

Lin Jiajun smiled faintly. "I'm not unhappy, just thinking about some things."

"What things?"

"Go get Mom and Dad."

"...Alright."

"What's up?" Lin Daan asked.

Lin Jiajun spoke slowly. "Today, Lin Feng and I went to look at storefronts, but we didn't like any of them.

"I asked if we could open one in Yangcheng. Lin Feng said he has three storefronts there that can be combined into one large shop. But he's busy taking care of his children and can't manage the business, so he suggested that Jiang Anmin and I handle it.

"I'll discuss it with Jiang Anmin, but I'll be the one to go. For one thing, Lin Feng and I are brothers, which makes communication easier. For another, Jiang Anmin's father hasn't been in good health this year, and his kids are still young, so he doesn't want to be too far from home.

"So, I'm thinking I'll go to Yangcheng. Once I'm settled, I plan on bringing Wang Lu and the kids over."

Lin Daan had no objections and nodded. "That's a good idea. Big cities offer more opportunities for development, which means more chances for the kids in the future."

The Second Aunt said nothing. She couldn't bear the thought of being apart from her two grandsons.

Lin Jiajun smiled. "If things go well over there, you can all come and join me.

"Look at Lin Feng's kids—let's not even talk about talent for a moment. You didn't see them, but their speech and manners... our son simply can't compare. Moving to a big city will allow the children to see more of the world, giving them more choices and more paths in life. It's a good thing.

"After the New Year, Lin Jie is also heading to Yangcheng. I'll go with them. Once I'm established there, I'll bring the kids over."

Parents are always planning for their children's futures. Money has to be earned, but a future for the children must also be secured.

Especially when I compare him to his peers. Other kids are performing abroad with their violins, while my son is still at home watching cartoons! Other kids are traveling internationally, giving speeches, and experiencing all sorts of things, while my son is... still at home watching cartoons! This can't go on. I have to find a way to change things. I want to give my kids the best of everything I possibly can!

Wang Lu, who had become a full-time mom, deferred to her husband. "Alright, you can make the decision on this."

Lin Jiajun said with a smile, "Then that's settled."
