In the blink of an eye, it was March 1st.
School had officially started, and a new semester began.
Lin Feng was busy again, dropping off and picking up the kids. Everything seemed the same as always.
If there was any change, it was that the children were quite enthusiastic about their painting lessons.
However, their talents varied. Sibao and Dabao, the most enthusiastic of the bunch, had absolutely no talent for drawing whatsoever.
Sibao was the type to have strong limbs but a simple mind. As long as an activity involved sports, his comprehension and natural talent were immediately apparent. He wasn't very good at anything else.
Dabao, on the other hand, was steady in all aspects but didn't particularly excel in any. Their teacher, Ms. Zhao, couldn't stop praising him, saying he was a natural at leading his classmates and possessed strong leadership skills.
The most talented were Erbao and Sanbao. As befitting their artistic temperaments, the two were quite gifted at painting.
Although Dabao and Sibao were somewhat lacking in artistic talent, what mattered was that they enjoyed painting. While talent is important, effort is equally significant, and Lin Feng only cared that his children were happy.
「The first half of the year.」
Renovations for the Yangcheng hot pot restaurant branch were completed between March and mid-May, and it officially opened in June.
Lin Jie, Chen Miaomiao, and their friends interned at SP Comics for four months. After Children's Day on June 1st, they planned to head to Jingcheng to start their own business.
In mid-May, each class began preparing its performance for Children's Day.
Class Six was doing a group dance, for which twenty boys and girls were chosen to perform "Garden of the Motherland." Erbao and Sibao were both selected. Each of the selected children had to pay 280 yuan for a costume.
Class Eight was doing a group poetry recitation, with Sanbao accompanying them on the violin. For their performance, the students simply had to wear their summer school uniforms. Only Sanbao's costume was a formal gown.
On the last day of May, the school held a large-scale Children's Day performance. Parents were also invited to the school to celebrate with their children.
「After lunch.」
Lin Feng helped the children from Class Six change into their performance costumes. The girls wore long pink dresses, while the boys wore white short-sleeved shirts with black shorts, all with matching white shoes. The girls were required to tie up their hair, but the style was up to them. Lin Feng styled Erbao's and Sanbao's hair into buns, accessorizing them with pink hair clips.
Dabao wore his school uniform. Sanbao was dressed in her formal gown, looking as precious as a little princess.
Zhang Yuxi took Dabao and Erbao to the Class Eight area, while Lin Feng accompanied Sanbao and Sibao to Class Six.
The classroom was bustling as teachers hurried to apply the children's makeup. Led by the head teacher, the parents were asked to bring their children's chairs out to the playground. They were instructed to arrange them according to the classroom seating chart and wait for the show to begin.
Lin Feng carried three chairs downstairs and saw that Class Eight was already seated. With little preparation and no makeup needed, they had settled in early. Class Seven was seated in the gap between them.
Lin Feng immediately spotted Zhang Yuxi in the crowd.
Dabao, as the class monitor, was commanding the scene like a little adult.
"Excuse me, aunts, uncles, grandmas, and grandpas, please align your chairs before sitting down!"
"You two, stop fooling around! Everyone, please be quiet!"
Impressively, Dabao projected an air of natural authority.
This term, Erbao had been promoted from a class officer to deputy monitor. The previous deputy had transferred schools, so Erbao took her place. In each class, the monitor and deputy monitor positions were held by one boy and one girl.
After getting her makeup done, Erbao also began organizing the class. She had a sweet way with words and could remember every parent.
"Tang Wenxiao's mom, could you please move in a little? Thank you for your cooperation, Auntie!"
"You must be Li Xuecheng's grandpa. Grandpa, could you please move forward a bit? Yes, perfect! Thank you so much!"
Seeing a classmate misbehaving, Erbao said with a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes, "Please don't cause trouble, okay? PE monitor, get this under control!"
And who was the PE monitor?
Sibao, of course. In this class, Sibao was the strongest kid.
Sibao shot to his feet. "Let me see who's causing trouble!"
By the time Class Seven and Class Five came down, Class Six and Class Eight were already in perfect order.
Class Seven's monitor was slightly less capable. It took him a long time to get his class in order. By the time he succeeded, Class Five was already quiet.
A parent next to Lin Feng remarked with envy, "Your child is so impressive. He acts every bit the class monitor. Such strong leadership skills."
"Indeed," another parent chimed in. "He's so much better than the monitors from the other classes. Even Ms. Zhao says she has much less to worry about than other teachers."
Faced with everyone's envy and compliments, Lin Feng felt an immense sense of pride.
The first graders were seated closest to the stage, encircled by the second graders, then the third, and so on.
Time was tight. At 2:40 PM, the Children's Day festivities officially commenced.
The performance order was determined by a draw held by the teachers. Class Eight was scheduled for a slot after the tenth performance, while Class Six was after the twentieth.
The program featured dances, songs, skits, and more. The sixth graders even performed a trendy modern dance, and they did it quite skillfully.
Before long, it was time for Class Eight's poetry recitation.
Sanbao, dressed in her little gown, stood to the side with her violin.
A staff member, who was one of the music teachers, glanced at Sanbao's violin, adjusted the microphone, and asked, "Is this too high?"
Sanbao nodded. "That's perfect, thank you!"
Once the host stepped off the stage, the melodious sound of Sanbao's violin filled the air.
It was an uplifting poem with just a few stanzas. A small conductor at the front exchanged a glance with Sanbao before signaling the other students to begin their recitation.
Sanbao's violin playing was truly exceptional, a fact the school's music teacher recognized instantly. The staff member who had adjusted the microphone was that very teacher.
After stepping down from the stage, she whispered to another teacher beside her.
"Wow, that kid on stage has a violin worth over eight hundred thousand yuan!"
The other teacher was shocked. "Eight hundred thousand?"
"Yes, more than eight hundred thousand! My niece has one from the same brand, but hers is only around one hundred and fifty thousand."
"Good grief. I'd heard their family was rich, but I guess it's true. You'd never know by looking at them!"
The other teacher said, "Truly wealthy people are very low-key. Besides, I heard from Ms. Zhao that this child has performed at the New York Opera House several times…"
If Sibao had turned heads and become famous at the last sports meet, then this time, Sanbao was guaranteed to cause a similar sensation.
