My College Teacher is My Children's Mom

Chapter 442 Sudden Premature Birth

After returning home, Lin Feng and Zhang Yuxi took the children for a bath. The disinfectant smell in that bathroom had been overpowering.

After their bath, Lin Feng asked the children if they were hungry and wanted a late-night snack. It was only eight-thirty, and the kids all said yes. Lin Feng thought for a moment, then made them some pudding and baked some small buns.

"Okay, you have class tomorrow. Is your homework finished? Double-check it, and get your schoolbags ready. Don't be scatterbrained."

The children checked their schoolbags one by one and confirmed everything was ready.

"Alright then, time for bed! Good night!"

After saying goodnight to each of the children, Zhang Yuxi and Lin Feng returned to their bedroom.

"Honey, the kids' schoolbags are too heavy. Let's buy them rolling ones." They were only in first grade, yet their schoolbags felt surprisingly heavy.

Besides the textbooks, Lin Feng also prepared water bottles for them, and every day he would pack a different fruit for them, like an apple, a pear, or a banana. There was also a sweat towel and other necessities. Zhang Yuxi had hefted one of the bags once, and it was genuinely heavy.

Their home was a quick walk from the school. Unless they were pressed for time, Lin Feng usually chose to walk with the kids to get some fresh air, some exercise, and help them digest their food.

Lin Feng had been pondering this issue as well. "Alright. After I drop the kids off at school tomorrow, I'll go to the store and take a look."

After lying down, Zhang Yuxi asked with a smile, "Honey, do you want to know what Er Bao and I talked about today?"

Lin Feng thought for a moment and had a good idea. "What did you talk about?"

Seeing his expression, Zhang Yuxi knew he had already guessed part of it. "Why don't you tell me? What do you think we were talking about?"

Lin Feng brought up the beautiful woman from earlier today. "Did she tattle on me to you?"

"Oh, my, you're so smart, honey! You guessed it right on the first try! But that's not the main point!"

Hearing Zhang Yuxi's description, Lin Feng couldn't help but feel emotional.

"Ever since Er Bao became the vice class monitor, she's become so much more responsible and sensible."

Zhang Yuxi nodded. "I know, right? They say one's family environment is crucial for a child's development, and it's really true!" Then, she nudged Lin Feng. "You have to be a good role model for the children, don't you go breaking their hearts!"

Lin Feng sat up straight and turned to look at Zhang Yuxi. "Dear, I feel like there's a hidden meaning in what you're saying."

Zhang Yuxi pretended not to understand. "What I said is true. After all, no one stays eighteen forever, but there are always new people who are eighteen." She added, "There were a lot of beautiful women there today. I can't compare to them!"

Lin Feng raised an eyebrow. "Dear, I don't like hearing you say that. How could any of them compare to you?"

Zhang Yuxi was pleased, but on the surface, she said, "They say every marriage hits a rough patch—the three-year hump, the seven-year itch. We're almost at seven years. Perhaps you've grown tired of me."

Usually, when a woman says this, it's either because she lacks self-confidence and needs reassurance from her husband, or she just wants to hear sweet words and receive affirmation from him.

Lin Feng said nothing; his actions were proof enough.

The end of the term arrived in the blink of an eye.

In July, the final exams began. This time, aside from Si Bao, who scored a ninety-five in Chinese and a ninety-eight in Math, the other children all got perfect scores. Anyone scoring below a hundred had to do homework!

These results didn't affect Si Bao's cheerful nature. He was still as happy as ever. Lin Feng and Zhang Yuxi both felt it was no big deal; a child's grades don't determine everything.

As the summer holidays began, San Bao had a performance coming up, this time at the Sydney Opera House. It was scheduled for mid-August, and San Bao had a solo to showcase his talent. He would be performing on both the violin and the piano. So, as soon as the vacation started, Zhang Yuxi took San Bao to Modu to prepare for the show.

Da Bao and Si Bao had to prepare for their Dan promotion test to earn their black belts! This also required a lot of preparation and practice.

And so, Lin Feng stayed home with Er Bao. He acted as her assistant, helping her design a few new products for the summer season. Er Bao had been studying painting with SP for several months and had gained a whole new understanding and made great strides in color matching and jewelry design. She created summer necklaces, bracelets, hairpins, and more. Customers could see her rapid progress and dramatic transformation.

Lin Feng planned to take Er Bao to a jewelry exhibition when he had the chance, which would broaden her horizons and give her more experience.

For her latest project, Er Bao chose a red and green color scheme, using only leftover materials. Lin Feng polished all the beads one by one, and Er Bao did all the threading. She made five pieces in total, giving one to San Bao and selling the rest. The earrings she made were also popular with adults, and the shop would release five or six new items a month.

The customer service response was always the same.

"We're sorry, the designer is currently in school. She will create new designs when she has free time.

"Final exams should be coming up soon, so please don't rush her. We appreciate your patience.

"If you are in a hurry, please feel free to check out other shops. Thank you!"

「In mid-July, An Lan went into labor prematurely without any warning.」

It happened in the middle of the night. Lin Feng didn't find out until he received a call from Liu Bo the next day. An Lan had suddenly gone into labor during the night, startling the whole family. They rushed her to the hospital, and she gave birth after only half an hour of pain.

It was a son, weighing five pounds and two ounces, who didn't need an incubator. But An Lan's mother was worried and insisted the baby stay in an incubator for a few days to ease her mind.

"Did the doctor say what caused the premature birth?"

"No, everything was fine. She was eating the same things as usual. She just suddenly went into labor. The doctor couldn't find a reason, but the important thing is that mother and child are safe and sound."

They hired the same postpartum caregiver as last time, so she and Liu Bo were at the hospital looking after An Lan. An Lan's mother was taking care of little Guo Guo at home.

"You all don't need to come," Liu Bo said. "Wait until we're back home, then you can bring the kids over." Hospitals are full of the smell of disinfectant; it's better to keep children away.

When Zhang Yuxi heard the news, she breathed a sigh of relief. "That's almost half a month before her due date, but that's still okay!"

A week later, she was discharged from the hospital.

Lin Feng brought the quads to visit An Lan's home. An Lan was feeling incredibly frustrated; the traditional month of postpartum confinement was difficult and uncomfortable! On top of that, little Guo Guo was being a handful, clattering around the house all day, which made her anxious.

The quads and Lin Feng all gathered around the crib, gazing at the tiny infant inside.

Er Bao asked softly, "Daddy, is it a little brother or a little sister?"

"A little brother!"

Er Bao looked a little disappointed. "A brother, huh? I was hoping for a sister!"

Si Bao said happily, "A brother is great! We can take him everywhere to play in the future."

San Bao suggested, "Let's give our baby brother a nickname!"

Si Bao was quite creative when it came to names. "Let's call him Cai Cai! His big brother is Guo Guo, so now the baby brother is Cai Cai. We have fruit and vegetables!"

All the children agreed, and even Guo Guo himself thought the name was awesome. Guo Guo immediately pitter-pattered away to tell An Lan the good news.

"Mommy, Mommy!"

An Lan asked with a smile, "What is it, sweetie?"

"We gave our baby brother a nickname! Guess what it is!"

An Lan was suddenly struck with a bad feeling. "What is it?"

Guo Guo grinned. "Take a guess!"

An Lan rattled off a few wild guesses, each more ridiculous than the last. "Tank? Airplane? Rocket? Ultraman? Transformer?"

Guo Guo stared at An Lan in surprise. Wow, I didn't realize you could pick names like that!
