My College Teacher is My Children's Mom

Chapter 445 Heading to Sydney

In the blink of an eye, Sanbao's performance was drawing near. The family arrived in Sydney three days in advance. The city's most famous, must-visit tourist attraction was its collection of local heritage sites.

For the next few days, Miao Lang took Sanbao around, along with his old friend Max. Apart from handling Sanbao's expenses, Lin Feng and the others didn't have much to do. Moreover, they didn't want to seem too eager and put pressure on Sanbao. On the day of the performance, they would just buy tickets and enjoy the show.

The main concert hall there could accommodate over three thousand spectators and usually hosted symphonies, operas, dances, choirs, and more.

When entering, everyone was dressed rather formally. Luckily, Zhang Yuxi and Lin Feng had packed formal attire in their suitcases and just had to ask the hotel staff to iron it.

"Honey, we could have bought new outfits," Lin Feng said. "I don't mind mine, but I wanted to buy you something new."

Zhang Yuxi was unconcerned. "I think they're fine, dear. These clothes aren't damaged, and they're perfectly wearable. Besides, as parents, we need to set a good example and not be extravagant or wasteful. Kids learn by example, and it happens fast! Plus, raising children costs a lot of money, so we shouldn't buy things we don't need."

She no longer had the mindset of a young girl who would buy whatever she wanted. She had now learned to control her desire to shop, buying only what was necessary. This wasn't about being frugal; she simply felt that she had grown up.

On the day of the performance, Sanbao went ahead with Miao Lang and Max. Lin Feng, along with his wife and other children, dressed up and bought tickets to get in. They bought front-row seats so they could see the stage better.

Zhang Yuxi mentioned to Lin Feng that when she was a young woman, she used to attend operas and watch dance performances with Zhao Lizhen. One reason was to broaden her horizons; the other was to cultivate her temperament. Over time, it did cultivate a bit of a serene detachment in her.

Sanbao's performance this time included pieces for both the piano and the violin. Of her three talents, she was strongest on the violin, followed by the drums and then the piano.

After honing her skills through several performances, and thanks to her innate talent, even standing alone on stage with all the lights focused on her, Sanbao was not flustered in the slightest. She was steady as a rock.

After her piece ended, the auditorium erupted in applause. Sanbao gave a faint smile, took a graceful bow, and left the stage.

Next came a piano piece. It was a highly challenging composition, a true test for Sanbao. But after half a month of practice, Sanbao could master it completely. Her ten fingers flew across the piano keys, leaving behind a trail of afterimages. The speed was so astonishing that Lin Feng couldn't help but gasp. The audience members began to whisper among themselves, discussing Sanbao.

When Sanbao struck the final note, the piece concluded. A thunderous round of applause swept through the hall, a clear affirmation of her performance.

Sure enough, after the performance, the media began to interview Sanbao. Because of her Zen-like disposition, she handled these grand occasions with an extraordinary poise and composure that belied her age. She answered each of the reporters' questions fluently in English. Of course, they also briefly interviewed Lin Feng and Zhang Yuxi, as well as the other siblings.

Finally, everything was over. By the time they returned to the hotel, the news was already out. Videos of Sanbao's performance and her interviews went viral, hitting the trending lists shortly after being posted. As for the reports about Lin Feng and Zhang Yuxi, they would appear in the newspaper.

During dinner, Lin Feng announced, "Next up, let's enjoy our time in Sydney! Tomorrow we'll visit some art and jewelry exhibitions!"

The children had no objections. After dinner, the family went out to explore the night market. Miao Lang and Max had gone off to handle their own business.

The night market was bustling, with vendors selling all sorts of things. The children were drawn to all sorts of fun little trinkets and bought a few. As class president and vice president, Er Bao and Da Bao bought some extra inexpensive items. They planned to give one to each of their classmates back home as a small gift.

Being in a foreign land, Lin Feng kept a close eye on his wife and children. The night market seemed to attract all sorts of people, and some of them kept glancing over, sizing up Zhang Yuxi and the four children. A few young men were squatting by a flowerbed, smoking and chatting, their eyes occasionally darting in their direction.

"Honey, are you done shopping?" Lin Feng asked quietly.

"Not yet, what's up?"

"I'm getting a little hungry. I saw a snack shop up ahead that looked busy; the food must be good."

Si Bao, the little foodie, immediately lost interest in everything else at the mention of delicious food. "Daddy, I want yummy food!"

Er Bao, who was nearly done with his shopping, quickly chimed in, "Me too! I'm starving now!"

Without changing his expression, Lin Feng said, "Let's go, Daddy will take you to eat something tasty!"

Zhang Yuxi seemed to sense something and glanced behind them. Her eyes met the gazes of those men, and she quickly urged the children to walk faster.

Lin Feng was right; there was indeed a snack shop not far ahead. After they settled down inside, Lin Feng made an excuse to step out. He scanned the area and, seeing that the men hadn't followed them, finally breathed a sigh of relief.

The children each ordered what they wanted. Before long, their food was served.

Checking the time, Lin Feng said with a smile, "We can explore more tomorrow. After we finish eating, we'll head back to the hotel."

The kids had no objections, since they had already bought what they wanted. After their meal, Lin Feng led the family back to the hotel.

After the children were asleep, Zhang Yuxi asked, "Dear, those men at the night market earlier... was there something wrong with them?"

Lin Feng nodded. "Whether there was a problem or not, it's always better to be safe than sorry."

Zhang Yuxi nodded in agreement.

The next day, Lin Feng checked and found that the art exhibition wasn't on. However, the jewelry exhibition was being held as scheduled.

Sydney hosted this jewelry exhibition annually. It was held in a famous local museum and had a thirty-year history. It welcomed manufacturers and buyers from countries all over the world, and its scale had grown annually to include over two thousand exhibitors. The exhibition covered nearly 100,000 square meters of floor space and attracted close to 150,000 attendees.

The event primarily showcased high-quality precious jewelry and timepieces, and attendees were required to provide proof of assets. Essentially, this meant providing a certificate from a bank. Only those with a net worth of over five million were permitted to enter.

Lin Feng also learned that there were jewelry exhibitions back in their home country, though he had never paid them any mind.

This jewelry exhibition focused primarily on men's and women's watches. Inside, the entire hall was filled with dazzling, colorful jewels and gems—a blinding spectacle. Every piece of jewelry had a price tag, as visitors were welcome to make purchases.

The whole family was visiting an exhibition like this for the first time, feeling like country bumpkins gawking at the big city. No woman could resist the allure of such jewelry. Zhang Yuxi looked here and there, her eyes practically turning green with envy. The children were equally curious, their heads swiveling to look at everything. Good heavens, the venue was so vast; their eyes could barely take it all in.

After making a round, everyone continued to browse.

Zhang Yuxi had her eye on a particular men's watch, but by the time they came back around, it had already been sold. So this time, she made up her mind. This time, she decided, if she saw something she liked, she wouldn't hesitate. She would just buy it!

Lin Feng was looking at other things with Da Bao and Si Bao. Zhang Yuxi roamed around with the two quieter children.

Eventually, Zhang Yuxi found a watch somewhat similar to the one she had missed. This one, however, wasn't dark blue, but light blue. She was a little disappointed, but she had to admit this one was quite nice too!
