My College Teacher is My Children's Mom

Chapter 509 Candlelit Dinner

Lin Feng held the little one in his arms while Zhang Yuxi played with a small crab, making the baby giggle. Playing with a child is draining, especially one with so much energy.

After about ten minutes, Zhang Yuxi was getting tired, but the baby was still in high spirits. "Honey, I'm tired," she said. "I don't want to play anymore."

Lin Feng looked around. "You hold him for a bit. There's a place up ahead selling small shovels and buckets. I'll go buy a set so we can take the crab with us."

Zhang Yuxi took the baby. "Okay."

Lin Feng returned shortly, put the crab into the little bucket, and had Zhang Yuxi carry it. All along the way, the baby's attention was glued to the crab, his eyes fixed on the little bucket.

The little bar they remembered was open for business, and its facade had been renovated. They sat down, and Zhang Yuxi ordered a glass of fresh-squeezed juice. Lin Feng ordered a soft drink, the same flavor he always used to get.

The owner peered at them for a moment before bringing over a plate of fruit salad. "For my regular customers," he said. "This is on the house."

Lin Feng was taken aback. "Thank you!"

"I remember you two quite well," the owner said with envy. "Unless I'm mistaken, you have quadruplets, right?"

Lin Feng nodded. Seeing the owner looking at the baby, he smiled and explained, "He's from our second pregnancy."

The owner grew even more envious. "Look at you! After all these years, neither of you has aged a bit. What's your secret?"

Lin Feng gave a faint smile. "A good attitude, I suppose. Fewer worries helps."

Zhang Yuxi didn't remember the owner, but Lin Feng had a vague recollection. The owner envied the couple's fertility; he had been hoping for a child of his own for over twenty years with no luck. It was for this reason that Lin Feng's family had made such a deep impression on him.

The topic of children touched upon personal privacy, so Lin Feng didn't feel it was his place to ask. But the owner sighed and began to tell his story anyway.

"I'm a local. My wife came here on vacation, and we hit it off. Everything from dating to marriage went smoothly. But in our fifth year of marriage, we felt something was wrong. We wanted children, but nothing was happening. We went to the hospital for a check-up... and it turned out the problem was with me."

Feeling a bit awkward, Zhang Yuxi made an excuse to stand up. "I'm just going to take a walk over there."

Lin Feng nodded.

The owner was probably too sad to feel awkward. He rested his forehead in his hand and continued, "I'm normal in every other way... it's just..."

Lin Feng understood. He saw the owner gazing wistfully at the baby, his face a mask of envy.

"My wife and I both adore children. We never gave up. We sought out all sorts of medicine and treatments, but nothing ever worked... My wife is such a good woman; she's stuck by me all these years. I opened this little bar and made some money, but what's the use? We just want a child of our own, and we can't even have that... It's agonizing..."

The baby in Lin Feng's arms fell fast asleep. He was so small, soft, and smelled sweet—the entire family's treasure.

The owner asked with a look of desperation, "Friend, you've had so many children. Do you have any secrets?"

Lin Feng shook his head. "We conceived them all naturally."

The owner let out a disappointed "Oh."

Lin Feng thought for a moment. "Sir, I know a little about medicine. Would you like me to take a look?"

The owner was ecstatic. "Yes, of course! That would be great!"

But when he saw Lin Feng taking his pulse, the owner's smile gradually vanished. This seems a little unreliable.

Lin Feng checked his pulse for over ten minutes before asking about the owner's diet and lifestyle habits, which the man answered one by one.

Lin Feng pursed his lips. "Your problem isn't actually that serious, but the treatment will require you to endure some hardship."

The owner's spirits lifted instantly. "I'm not afraid of hardship! As long as we can have a child, I'll do anything."

Lin Feng considered it. "Are you sure you can handle it?"

The owner nodded firmly. "No problem. I can do it."

"In that case, I'll come find you tonight."

The owner quickly gave Lin Feng his address. "This is my home address. Or, if that's not good, give me yours, and I can come to you."

Lin Feng thought about the baby's sleep schedule. "It's better if you come to my place."

On the way home, Zhang Yuxi saw the baby sleeping soundly and offered, "Honey, let me hold him for a while."

Lin Feng smiled. "He's not heavy, and I'm not tired."

As soon as they got home, the baby's internal radar went off, and he woke up. Lin Feng started preparing dinner while Zhang Yuxi took the crab out of the little bucket and let it crawl on the floor. Lying in his stroller, the baby watched, thrilled beyond belief.

Zhang Yuxi called the quadruplets, but no one answered. She then sent a message asking if they were coming home for dinner. Twenty minutes later, their third child called back to say they wouldn't be home for dinner and would be back later.

"What did the kids say?" Lin Feng asked.

"They're at the amusement park and will eat out."

"Mm."

With everything ready, Zhang Yuxi looked at the table. "This..." When was the last time we had a candlelit dinner? I can't even remember.

Lin Feng pulled out her chair.

Zhang Yuxi sat down. "Thank you, honey!"

There were red candles and a lavish dinner. All it was missing was some fine wine.

"I'll make some for you when you're done nursing," Lin Feng promised.

"Okay!"

Nearby, the baby played with his toy, his eyes fixed on the flickering flames...

「Meanwhile...」

Unbeknownst to their parents, the quadruplets had come home early. The dining room was directly opposite the entryway. The second oldest was the first to enter. He took one look and stopped short. Whoa, Mom and Dad are having a romantic evening. I'd better not disturb them.

He quickly backed out of the doorway.

The youngest, confused, asked from behind, "Why'd you back out?"

The second oldest chuckled and turned to the others. "It's not a good time for us to go in right now."

"Why not?"

"Because Mom and Dad are having a romantic candlelit dinner. Let's not crash their date."

Since that was the case, they would have to eat out. Some memories from the past came to mind. For instance, the seafood street stalls.

They went over to check one out. Wow, it had stayed in business all these years. Impressive!

The quadruplets sat down, ordered a set meal and drinks, and waited for their food to arrive.

The second oldest rested his chin in his hands. "This really brings back memories. I wonder when the last time we came here was."

The feast arrived amidst the quadruplets' chatter.
